Newcastle United Pip Chelsea In Form League

Even though Newcastle were beaten on Saturday at West Ham to break our six game winning streak – five in the Premier League – we still have 5 wins from our last six games and 15 points.

Alan Pardew – smile – we are top

So in the form table – which takes the results of the last 6 league games – that’s enough to put us at the very top, with Chelsea (slumping) having won only four and drawn two – at Manchester United (1-1) on October 26th and at Sunderland on Saturday (0-0).

The game at the Stadium of Light was the first time Chelsea had not scored in any game this season in all competitions, and they come to St. James’ Park this saturday.

Here are the standings of each of the Premier League sides with the points from the last six games with Leicester, Hull and Aston Villa slumping at the bottom.

Newcastle 15
Chelsea 14
Man City 13
Southampton 13
Man Utd 11
Everton 11
West Ham 11
Arsenal 10
Tottenham 9
Swansea 8
QPR 7
Liverpool 7
Burnley 7
Stoke 7
Sunderland 6
Crystal Palace 5
West Brom 5
Aston Villa 3
Hull 2
Leicester 1

Notice that Burnley have 7 points and that’s come form their last three games.

And we are also joint top of the PL Injury League with Arsenal with 11 injuries,  so that’s another table we are topping at the moment.

The only one we’re not at the top of right now is the only one that counts – the Premier League. 😀

    Janmaat out?

    Anita to right back then

We will be raiding the under 18s for the subs bench.

It is surprising how quietly ManU have been climbing the league. NUFC could be easily at the bottom of the form table by Xmas.

Without Colback, Abeid and Sissoko in midfield it will be difficult, but not impossible, to win at Burnley who have turned a corner now that they have their goal scorer back.

I assume our defence will include Janmaat, Dummitt and Haidara with a choice of Williamson, Saylor or Colo to join them.

I assume, because there is nobody else, that Tiote and Anita will be in midfield but who gets the third spot ? I would play Perez as he has pace, quick feet, can see a pass and has an eye for goal. He has shown that he can easily get out of trouble and is not afraid to get stuck in.

In attack I would play Riviere flanked by Ameobi and Cabella as I think Aarons may still be unavailable otherwise he would play in place of Cabella.

For wild cards I would choose Bigi for midfield and Callum Roberts for the wing.

    Slank,
According to Charlie, Janmaat and Colour out injured, so Anita or STaylor at RB, if Anita plays there it leaves the midfield empty, but let’s sell Tiote any way.

I would love to be proved wrong but I don’t think Cabella would work in midfield. He hasn’t shown enough to convince me that he can be the fulcrum of a three man midfield whereas Perez has demonstrated in almost every game so far that he has the skills required for that position.

I didn’t know Janmaat was out. I would play Anita in midfield and Saylor at right back. I didn’t know Aarons was available. He would certainly figure in my team but perhaps not the full 90 minutes. Interesting choice of Colo in midfield. He could certainly do the job.

    Elliot

    Saylor Williamson Dummet Haidara

    Tiote Anita Cabella

    Gouffron – Ayoze – Sammy

-Cabella to take the advance CM role
-Gouffron is still AP lover, hence the automatic selection
    – Can also try Ayoze-Cisse-Sammy

Didn’t know Riviere was out too. It’s bad enough getting injured when playing but when not its ridiculous. Suppose its a choice between Cisse and mystery man Ferreyra.

I was impressed with Bigi in the televised U21 match. Would he get a game or even be on the bench ?

I’m afraid I agree with you about Gouffran. Looks like he has replaced Shola as the player who always gets picked irrespective of recent performances.
