Newcastle will take a good look at 22 year-old Danny Ings, who Newcastle have been interested in for at least four years, with a possible January bid for the Hampshire=born striker, who has refused to sign a new deal at Burnley, and whose contract runs out next June.
Danny Ings – Newcastle interested in Burnley striker
And Danny has finally hit the goals trail in Burnley’s mini revival of 7 points from their last three games, and Ings now has 4 goals in just 10 Premier League appearances this season.
Newcastle manager Alan Pardew is said to be keen on getting the 5’10” striker to Newcastle, and it wouldn’t surprise us if Newcastle make a bid for the player in early January.
Newcastle failed to bring in a striker in the summer to replace Loic Remy, and we have already been linked with an interest in a number of strikers for the January transfer window.
This is what Alan Pardew has said about the player:
“I didn’t say no to being interested, I said in the past we’ve not made any inquiries or anything substantial.”
“He is a player who is impressing at the moment. I know that Eddie Howe took him to Burnley and he was always praising him, so he’s someone I’ve always kept my eye on.”
“We get linked with all sorts of players, I don’t know if he’s been linked with us, but we certainly haven’t bid or made an offer for him in a previous window.”
“He’s a Burnley player and I think they would find it disrespectful that you would ask that question.”
Newcastle first registered an interest in Ings when we were in the Championship and he was on loan from Bournemouth to Dorchester Town back in early 2010.
He scored 7 goals in 13 appearances for Dorchester Town, and we’ve been linked with an interest in the player ever since.
Since signing for Burnley in the summer of 2011 for £1M from Bournemouth, Danny has scored 36 goals in 104 appearances for the Clarets.
Burnley will have a decision to make next month on whether to sell him in January and get something for him, or else lose him for nothing as a free agent in the summer.
It could well be decided by where Burnley are in the league come January.
Alan Pardew has said he wants more British players in his squad, so here’s a chance to sign a good young striker for what should be a fairly low transfer fee of maybe only £3M.
And we know owner Mike Ashley always likes good deals like this one.
Danny has played 7 times for the England U21 side with four goals.
