Two Top Chelsea Players To Miss Newcastle Game

Chelsea maintained their unbeaten record tonight with a rather easy 3-0 win over Tottenham at Stamford Bridge, with substitute Loic Remy getting a good opportunist goal just after he came on as a substitute for Didier Drogba in the second half,  and Chelsea continue at the top of the league,  having won eleven and drawn three of their 14 league games so far this season.

Nemanja Matic – suspended for Newcastle game with 5 yellow cards

Serbian International defensive midfielder Nemanja Matic picked up his 5th yellow card of the season early in the second half, and therefore will miss the game against Newcastle on Saturday, and it will be the first Premier League game this season he has not started for Chelsea.

And England International Tim Cahill suffered a concussion in the first half,  and did not appear after the break, with 20 year-old former St Etienne youngster and Newcastle target Kurt Zuma deputizing in the second half.

So if Tim cannot make it, at least Chelsea will not be at their strongest, and it was interesting that Mourinho took Cesc Fabregas off after 75 minutes, so that he didn’t pick up a 5th yellow card.

Cesc will likely start at St, James Park on Saturday.

And the 3-0 defeat of Tottenham moves Newcastle into 9th place in the PL table, and ahead of Tottenham on goal difference.

Sunderland were 1-0 ahead – which is the score of the last four of the fixtures at the Stadium of Light with a lucky goal from Conor Wickham – as the ball ricocheted off him into the goal.

But four unanswered goals for City gave them an easy 4-1 win and they remain 6 points behind Chelsea and seem to be starting a surge in the last few games.

Hull City got a good point at Everton in their 1-1 draw – and go above Burnley,  who drop back down to 3rd bottom.

It will be a difficult game for our lads at St. James’ Park on Saturday – but they already know that – and we hope to see Newcastle at or near their best in that game – and then you never know what may happen.

Certainly we have nothing to lose – with Chelsea expected to win.

Howay The Lads!!

Hey guys, going to travel to newcastle from Ireland for my first ever newcastle game. Looking to get tickets to the Burnely (H) game. How do I get them? when do they go on general sale? I tried via the nufc.co.uk website but it says you need to be a member buy a ticket. How do i go around that?

I think well have a few back for the derby Canny, and hopefully a few more like Cabella, Cisse and Rivierre a bit more up to speed, and no suspensions unless there’s a sending off, of which we’ve had only the one so far, and was fairly ludicrous.

    Tim Cahill at centre-half, madness.
Won’t make a difference, they’ll just bring in two with fresh legs.

Gerrard should consider a swan song season at Chelsea, Man City or Real Madrid. A really fine player, at the end of a career spent at a club that has struggled at the same time, relatively speaking, to their own immense standards. What’s he got? A solitary Champions League medal, and an uncertain spot in a tentative side. He deserves a final run, in a greener paddock.

I was thinking more of a supporting role at a club that might give him a genuine chance at a major honor, like Lampard at City. Not being flogged on his last legs, at Benton during the week and then again every weekend, at St James’ and grounds up and down the country, so Ashley can wring every last ounce out of him, at modest compensation, on the outside chance of finishing sixth. Not quite what I had in mind for the great man, Canny.

Yeah, I know he’s won some domestic cups and the UEFA cup too, but a league title is the one I’m sure he wants, or another Champions League, lesser players have far more and it seems to be petering out a little for him, is all, and of course that slip last season, Jesus.

THE GAME (A Blogger’s Tale from the Trenches)

Christmas Eve. 1914. And the guns have faallen silent.
From the Gorman trenches, the haunting lilt of a carol we’d nivva hord before.
“Stillen Nacht.” drifts on the breeze of No Mans’ Land.
    It was sh*te.
So we aarll borst out with a chorus of “Colocinni you can shag wor lass.”
Which was belta, til aard bills-son tried to get a roond of “There’s aarnly one Mike Ashley” gannin.
Then someone says why not hev a game of footy?
    “Whaat? Against the Gormans?!!!”
“Norrr man!…summit to keep the PEACE”.
“Worraboot Pardew Lovaas v Neggaz?” sez little Willie Welsh, who joined up when he was 12 and has been responsible for starting more fights than the Red Baron.

So we got BandB to be the ref, as sha’s got the biggest gob and naa’s nowt aboot footbaal.
That and she’s a right munta and nee one wants to kiss hor if they score.

To be continued…..though you can write yourself into the next bit if you like.

Canny, we haven’t been Champions of England since 1927 and we haven’t won anything approaching a major honor since the Fairs Cup victory in 1969. It is arguably the most woeful record in the history of English Sport, all things considered.
