Magpies’ Star Player Could Be Leaving Soon – He’s Been Superb

Moussa Sissoko has been just great for Newcastle this season, and the 25 year-old powerful midfielder has improved a lot since he arrived on Tyneside form Toulouse for around £2M almost two years ago, with only six months left on his contract before he became a free agent.

Newcastle United's French midfielder Mou

Moussa Sissoko – vastly improved Newcastle midfielder

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is supposed to be keen on signing the French International, so we’ll have to wait and see if a bid comes in during January.

And then see we’ll have to see how big the bid is, and whether owner Mike Ashley will sell our best player in January – for the second year in succession.

It will give Newcastle fans a clue as to whether the owner has learned from his previous mistakes, or that money does remain king on Tyneside, under his ownership.

Alan Pardew talked about Moussa during his press conference today:

“We have not had contact from anybody else or heard from anybody else, but I take the point – he could be a target for others.”

“‘He is playing for a club where big clubs have come before and taken players away. I understand that so therefore, I guess, he is a player they will be looking at.”

“That’s all I can say because he has been terrific for us.” ‘I think he does owe the team a little bit if I am honest. “”

“That sending off was needless and he would possibly be the first to admit that.” “But he has been absolutely superb for us and I am looking for a big game from him.”

“He is only a young player, 25, and he has already got 27 national caps for France. This is a guy who could win 50, 60 or 70 caps for France.”

“He is a powerful player and he is better player now than he was back then.” “Don’t get me wrong, he had a great day then against Chelsea – but he is better now .”

“And that is because he has more experience and has a better knowledge of the Premier League.”

We hope Newcastle don’t sell any of our players this January, but we said the same thing a year ago,  and it didn’t happen.

Newcastle will never be able to build a top side if we keep selling our best players,  when they become too good for us.

That seems to be what’s been happening at Newcastle,  as we have sold Demba Ba, Yohan Cabaye and Mathieu Debuchy.

What do you think?

do we take the for sale signs down inbetween windows or do leave it up and just occasionally stick a 50% off sticker on it

tiote first then it will be sissoko the following window

big risk this window though we not clear of the bottom scrap yet and we got a tough month head

Yeah why don’t you just let the world know we are looking for bids, no approach yet but I tell you what he’s only 25…could win loads more caps….kind of touting him out!! Ready made excuse for a poor showing in 2nd half of the season coming up!!

Wish he’d just say, it would take one he’ll of a big bid to prise him away!!

    OP

I want good attractive football, however I give up with the tools we have at the club, I’m not going to be fickle and pretend all is rosey now after this run of wins….Top 8 minimum was my prediction before the season started as I believe we have the 8th best squad.

Pardew is at it again. Putting our best players in the shop window eight before a transfer window. Openly discussing it mire than any other manager. He’s trying to build hype to sell our players, it must be a clause in the ridiculous contract he has.

It’s so obvious that this lot are not interested in our team climbing the ladder or getting any honours whatsoever.
We’d be holding on to our good players otherwise and building a team around them. Logic people!!

I wouldnt sell him for a penny less than 30 million pounds……..cash up front.

Wenger wont pay that and Jose doesnt need him. I see him as the perfect replacement for Yaya Toure at City.

It would be astonishing if that were to happen. How could Ashley hope to get away with it. Part of me perversely would like to see him try, as a sort of social experiment. I take heart when the crowd fights back. But I tend to think Ashley might rather the player than the cash at this stage, to advance his own ends and also the clubs, which are not at all two separate entities, it should be remembered. The player may want the move also though, if the offer eventuates, but the club should not put a players wishes before the sides needs, mid campaign. A contract is a contract.

    .depends on the contract.

I was under the impression he was on a 6 year deal but I read somewhere during the week that his agent said he only had 18 months left which means he only signed a 3 year deal.

On 21 January 2013, English side Newcastle United confirmed they had Sissoko on a six-and-a-half-year deal for an undisclosed fee.[36] It was rumoured that Sissoko waived any signing on fee from his new club in order to push the move through after Toulouse were unwilling to let him leave until the summer, when his contract expired

Oh yeah, cos the A league is fab, not!

That said, if Canberra does get this team they’ve been on about for years I will start going. Be nice to watch live stuff again. Don’t think the terrace atmosphere will be anything like an English game like but then that kinda disappeared with the arrival of seats.

Newcastle, I believe offer these long term contracts now to I suppose encourage talent to come in the first place and also so once they do, they will remain a valuable asset for longer. It only really works though if the side is competitive and the player of sufficient quality and character to contribute. That again is another reason to perhaps feel a guarded optimism about the clubs future under Ashley. That it might well be a better one, although probably not a great one, you wouldn’t bet on that at this stage.

Players can be unhappy for a few months if needs be. I think most players would accept that anyway. It’s just the odd prima donna or willful opportunist. Again character.

    from the clubs website

Newcastle United have completed the signing of French international Moussa Sissoko from Toulouse for an undisclosed fee.

The 23-year-old midfielder has put pen-to-paper on a six-and-a-half year deal at St. James’ Park and will wear the number seven shirt.

Please get with the program. You state under Ashley that “money does remain king on Tyneside “.
Howay man! There are two Kings on Tyneside.
One picks the team every week and the other “is in his counting house counting out his money”.
Question…. Can you get an abacus with enough balls to display Ashleys worth?
HWTL if we don’t sell them all in January.

Canberra Utd Women, in the National League, Canny.

The A league is alright. Saw the Roar play Sydney City at Lang Park a couple of seasons back, including Del Piero, and it was a very open and exciting game played in front of a boisterous crowd of over twenty thousand in a world class ground all for about twenty bucks. It was great.

“It didnt happen. As soon as we saw his lot rock up outside the house, we made a mad rush to lock all the doors and close the windows”.

You are getting mixed up here -the occasion when you rushed to lock all the doors and windows was when the Vice Squad turned up to seize your porn collection.
