10 Man Newcastle With Substitute Goalkeeper Beat Chelsea 2-1

In what was an unbelievable performance by Newcastle, especially in that second half, we inflicted the first defeat on Chelsea today at St, James’ Park and our third successive win in this fixture – and that was in spite of Rob Elliot having to leave the game and Steven Taylor managing to get himself sent off after 0 minutes.

Newcastle players at the end of an incredible win
Newcastle had to bring on 21 year-old Jak Alnwick for his first appearance for Newcastle and he did quite well although was a bit at fault for Drogba’s goal after 82 minutes.

But by that time Newcastle were two goals up through – well who else – Cisse who had been brough on as a substitute after 57 minutes and 78 minutes – and the referee added a full six minutes of stoppage time – to try to allow Chelsea to at least draw the game and save their unbeaten record.

But our lads held out and given the adversities the side had to endure today it was unbelievable.

This is what we said in one of our articles this morning:

That comment about playing friendlies should only help our players – and tremendous determination and a never say die attitude can get some shock results.

We’ll have a report of the game out soon – we think Mourinho’s comments before the game didn’t help his side.

Newcastle move up to 7th place as the other games are now underway.

Did I say it was unbelievable?

Howay The Lads!!

    @Our Toon

Yeah what a difference it makes having direct wingers like Sammy the moment he gets the ball his sole mission is to get the ball into the box for the strikers unlike when we had the likes of Gouffran or HBA on the wings who would try to score first and then lose the ball 2nd

I love watching Sammy on our wing more than HBA because he can beat men , works hard and is actually a team player he must have about 4 or 5 assists already this season

Steady. It might just be a 24 hour bug (or until Pardew starts being negative again) 😀

We need swansea to lose and Liverpool to drop a couple of points and we will stay seventh.

Jose with a serious case of sour grapes there, he spent about 2 mins blaming the ball boys for not getting the ball back in play quickly enough. What?!?

how did Sunderland lose Colback for free and he was barely good with them?

he’s playing like one the best central midfielders in the league at the moment.

What a game! Everyone man played a blinder, even Taylor before his red.
MOTM is so difficult. Colback, Perez, Colo were all outstanding. I’ve gone for Sissoko though for his first half performance, was driving into the Chelsea defence non-stop.

    Amazing turn around.

    Get in!

Excellent performance. Still not sure on Sammy think he could be upgraded and we could be better there. See how he goes?

Exciting times. If we had of changed managers would we have went on this run? Very debatable.

Think I’ll go with Colback for MOTM on this one. That tackle to lead to the 2nd goal was perfect and he did his usual all game.

Colback and Perez signed for free and the other under 2 million ? Thats insane scouting and value !

I remember people saying at the start of the season saying Colback was a Pardew signing and will be terrible ….

@Toon-Prodigy Still not sure about Sammy who has benched Gouffran and Cabella this season but you’re sure about Colback?
    Talk about double standards!
Sammy has been SUPERB this season in terms of Tracking back, Providiing Assists & scoring Goals
Thats why he has started 6 games in a row!
In my view he has been the revelation of the season

    Another great scalp for Pardew

We have a great record against the top teams under Pardew why can’t we just replicate that against the rest of the league!!!

3 points in the bag and we have a rough and tough set of fixtures coming up so a great win all round

Our defending against set plays is still shocking though. Amateur stuff. Why do we keep getting Our smallest men marking the biggest opposition players? Collocini marking Drogba? Dummett marking Drogba? Ar you kidding me

Every corner we concieded today i was shitting myself tbh.

    Toon-brother.

Im not convinced even now. Im not a fan of the lazy persona of the Ameobi’s. It irk’s me.

Put someone in who can really shift and I think we could do better there. He’s done alright but I feel we could do better. As a club we should be looking to always upgrade and I think that area ticks the box.
