Jose Mourinho has been whining about Newcastle’s time-wasting after Newcastle’s shock 2-1 win that inflicted the first defeat on Chelsea since last April.
Jose Mourinho – how can I beat this lot?
He wasn’t in a good mood during the game either
One of his gripes was that the ball-boys didn’t return the match ball to the players quickly enough and then there was one time when the Newcastle crowd took their time – on purpose – in giving the ball back to the players from the stands.
So that’s the reason Chelsea lost?
The Premier League gets £3B for TV rights – and the games are watched around the world live in many countries – and it’s a little ridiculous in this day and age that the game can be held up by the crowd.
In the US for example NBC Sports ensures every single PL game of the season can be watched live, either on a TV channel (NBC Sports Network) or by having the game streamed to a pP (or tablet or phone) and they are then available for two or three days after the game so fans can watch them again.
This is very useful when your team has a great result – like Newcastle on Saturday. 😀
One simple, easy and cheap way to solve the problem of the football not being available, is to have a number of footballs available to the 4th official to keep the game moving.
Maybe the referee checks a number of footballs before the game to make sure they are at the right pressure etc, and has them available so if there is any undue hold-up in the game because the ball disappears – then another football can be used.
That seems to be one easy way to solve the problem.
But teams who go down to 10 men while winning with 10 minutes left in the game, are not going out of their way to speed things up.
If Chelsea were in the same position as Newcastle on Saturday – they would have done exactly the same thing.

Comment #1Easy to solve. Have away team ball boys. Also anyone found to hold a match ball for more than 3 seconds (cameras required) banned for one game, like a red card offence.
There you go.
Where’s Ketsy these days?

Comment #3Jose is a bloody numpty sometimes.
I think on this occasion, he was his own worst enemy because before the game, there was a lot of talk about this record and I think psychologically, it had an adverse effect on him and his players as well as boosting the confidence of our players.

I am pretty sure the 6 and a half minutes added on time more than made up for the few se conds ball boys and the crowd held on to the ball.
Jose has made himself a laughing stock in the national press over these comments.

Agreed, he won’t have done his own team any favours either putting that in their heads.

Was fuming over those 6 mins. Heard the crowds reaction too. Not impressed. Thought when Taylor went off we were done for but over the moon with the way we held on. Good boost going into Arsenal.

Comment #14expat – excellent fool trapping tonight – excellent stuff. Really not that difficult to expose “ya shyte and scumbags” -they eventually fall into the self capture net and then squeal just like a piglet.
As I said earlier “ya shyte and scumbags” revert to type -they just cannot help themselves.
