Newcastle United winger Sammy Ameobi is in the last year of his contract at Newcastle, and he was in danger of leaving the club just one year after his older brother Shola left – but there is news today that the 22 year-old is in contract negotiations his gome town club.
Sammy Ameobi – news of a new contract
Sammy has played very well this season, and he has already made 13 appearances for the club with one superlative goal after 7 seconds of the second half at Tottenham – put through by a defense splitting pass from another local lad – Jack Colback.
We don’t know if the news being reported is true – since it would be a decent guess that Newcastle are now interested in signing the lad to a contract extension given his excellent form for the club.
Alan Pardew has challenged Sammy this season to produce the form that will get him a new contract at Newcastle, and to be fair to the lad – this is the best he’s ever played for Newcastle and fingers crossed – he’s also been free of injury so far.
We wouldn’t be at all surprised if Sammy does get a new contract, and if players like Mehdi Abeid, Rolando Aarons and Ayoze Perez keep playing like they’ve been playing, they could also get new improved contracts.
Sammy has now played 52 times with 3 goals for Newcastle, and he’s got a long way to go before equalling his brother’s record at the club.
Shola played 397 time for Newcastle United from 2000 through last year and scored 79 goals.

Yeah looks like De Jong might get back a bit ahead of schedule. That’s nothing but great news because he suppose to be the guy that will link up our play and release our strikers. Riviere in games we are dominated and Cisse in games we dominate. Of course, Perez have replaced Riviere as the pacy counter-attacking striker.

Comment #6cool sammy is a player to keep imo if only for impact sub and injury cover he’s worth having around.
theres been tons of praise for players improving tons imo in perez/armstrong/sissoko/colback/abied/dummett/saylor/cisse/sammy/rolando/callum/bigi/streete/ober.
and more that are seriously good players that have not been involved too much in siem/lescalles/darlow/cabella/santon
add to the already decent krull/tiote/colo and we have a something to get excited about.
i would like to end it on a negative though as river hasnt lived up to what i was hoping and goofy seems to be turning more and more into guti by the day.

Comment #7The lad is completely useless. I can’t understand the hype surrounding Sammy. He will never be a good premier league player. He is 22 and has two career league goals to his name. That is pathetic for an attacking player. Ship him off to Turkey with his brother.

sammy DESERVES a new contract. He has been fantastic all season! he’s only 22 and local lad to boot
in my humble opinion he and dummet are the best players to come through the reserves

Comment #9I think you will find I backed Saylor when everyone else was trying to shoehorn him out. The young guns have been great and I believe have helped the revival. When I first saw the team Pardew put out against City in the cup I thought he had thrown the towel in. The young locals put some fiore in the team and look at us now!
Please please Ashley sell no-one in Jan!
