Newcastle Linked With Winger In French League

24 year-old Marseilles Ghanaian winger Andre Ayew will become a free agent in the summer, and in these types of situations clubs can move in  during the January to try to sign him for only a nominal fee.

Andre Ayew

24 year-old Andre Ayew – Marseilles and Ghana winger

The 24 year-old has been out with injury for four weeks, and he returned to the Marseilles first team at the weekend,

The Ghanaian international scored his club’s second goal after 59 minutes, in their 3-1 win at home to Metz, and the win keeps Marseilles one point ahead of PSG on 38 points after 17 games played.

Talk Sport is reporting that both Liverpool and Newcastle are interested in the player, but last summer Liverpool cooled their interest in the skillful wide man  – so we would be surprised if Liverpool are still interested – although Ayew has said moving to Liverpool would be his dream move.

And with some good  wingers coming through on Tyneside like Sammy Ameobi, Rolando Aarons, Gabby Obertan and Remy Cabella,  it could be that Newcastle’s interest in the player has also cooled, but Mike Ashley always like  a good deal too.

This is what Andre has said about his situation:

“What matters to me is to play, to have fun. After that, in football, you do not know what can happen,”  “The most important thing for me is to play and win matches with OM.”

With Liverpool slumping this season, it could be that they will become interested again in signing Andre,  who has played 178 games with 52 goals and 19 assists for his French club, since joining them back in 2007.

We’d be surprised if Newcastle make a move for him in January, since a striker is our main requirement, but if he’s available as a free agent in the summer, who knows?

Comments welcome.

He is the only signing I can see coming, the reason for that is fat boy can buy for pennies, sell for pounds.

Unless another jack colback comes along for free, no one else.

I think he has already developed into our main man. His contributions to the team this year are “touresque” in my opinion.

We dont need Ayew when we already have Aarons and Ameobi who can play that role.

The author of this blog has probably never seen him play but has written 53 articles about our apparent interest.

Oh, and he even bores himself – to the extent that he won’t commit to the player’s name in the headline.

A parasite of the worst kind.

Haidara should start against arsenal with Dummett at cb. Pitty willo will have to start as i doubt he can contain sanchez, giroud, podolski, ox, corzola and ramsey coming at him. Never no though, have been surprised by the scalps weve taken so far this season. . Would be nice to get a pt to keep up with the pack for 5th 6th and 7th position. Have not seen a decent result at the emirates for ages though

As much as I want, is a striker really our main requirement? Cisse hitting form, riviere, perez, Gouffran’s natural position plus Armstrong should be getting an occasional game or sub to continue progressing. Bringing in another one will really block perez and armstrong I feel, and the money would be better spent worrying about all our aging and underwhelming CB situation and a natural right winger (though I’d like to see santon tried there first)

expat – good shout about Bob Monkhouse – indeed a comic genius and was described as such by many of his peers. please check out these comments from the comedy uk web pages.
“All Round Bob Monkhouse includes classic clips and interviews with Bob himself from the BBC’s extensive archive collection. Contributors including Denis Norden, Bradley Walsh, Anita Harris, Ted Robbins, Sheila Steafel, Jimmy Cricket and Tom Edwards (Bob’s friend and voiceover man on Wipeout) are united by one word throughout – “genius”.

There we have it genius -however there may be folk who are out of step about many things in the world, such as comedy and football who may not think he was. Because a person is a fool does not make him funny, and an unfunny fool does not become funny because he is a King Percy acolyte.

Cisse wont be around for ever and I dont believe the other forwards mentioned are either experienced enough or good enough to take on the role of an out and out target man cum goalscorer.

Indeed, i feel we have an overload of support strikers/number 10s in De Jong Perez Cabella Gouffran and Armstrong. I class Riviere as a wide player and certainly not a main forward .
