Coloccini, Cisse And Perez All Start At Arsenal

arsenal-fc-crest1nufc emblem

Alan Pardew has just announced the Newcastle team for the Arsenal game,  and both Ayoze Perez and Papiss Cisse are in the starting line-up.

Here are the teams:

Arsenal (4-2-3-1): Wojciech Szczesny; Hector Bellerin, Mathieu Debuchy, Per Mertesacker, Kieran Gibbs; Mathieu Flamini, Santi Cazorla; Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Alexis Sanchez, Danny Welbeck; Olivier Giroud
Substitutes: Emiliano Martinez, Semi Ajayi, Francis Coquelin, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Joel Campbell, Lukas Podolski, Yaya Sanogo

Newcastle (4-2-3-1): Jak Alnwick; Daryl Janmaat, Mike Williamson, Fabricio Coloccini (c), Paul Dummett; Cheick Tiote, Jack Colback; Yoan Gouffran, Ayoze Perez, Sammy Ameobi; Papiss Cisse
Substitutes: Freddie Woodman, Massadio Haidara, Vurnon Anita, Haris Vuckic, Remy Cabella, Adam Armstrong, Emmanuel Riviere

Referee: Lee Mason (Lancashire)

Haris Vuckic and Adam Armstrong both make the bench today, and of course in the goalkeeper department, Jak Alnwick starts this game and 17 year-old Freddie Woodman is on the bench.

It’s a 4-2-3-1 formation with Papiss Cisse up front, and it’s also the team we thought would start today – sometimes you get lucky.

Ayoze Perez will play just behind Cisse up front in the withdrawn striker role,  so we have a couple of goalscorers in the middle of the park up front, and we saw last week against Chelsea that Ayoze can put a lot of work in to help out the defense.

Former Newcastle right-back Mathieu Debuchy starts at center-half today – and that had been rumored yesterday with Arsenal having only one fir center-half in Per Mertesacker.

How Newcastle fare today will depend a lot on how the defense plays, and it’s good to see Colo fit and in the side, and he’ll have big Mike Williamson partnering him today.

How we fare today will also depend on how Jak performs in goal – and we hope he has another good game for the club.

Almost as many fans think we can win this game as think we will lose it.

pardew is mismanaging both cabella and ayoze perez. playing perez deeper gives him no continuity. Cabella should be starting in attacking midfield

hopefully Colocinni doesn’t crack under pressure today asbhe usually does

we saw how ineffective perez was playing at CAM at burneley and williamson couldnt handle the pace of ings and poor gouffran is not a winger…

just think how williamson will fare against the speedy sanchez, chamberlain and welbeck…argh

Is that Perez in the middle or Gouffran in the middle where Sissoko normally is ?

Staying positive, we can win this with the injuries Arsenal have, but Gouffran starting again is disappointing. He doesn’t offer much of anything hasn’t seen anything out of him all season, perez should be there and cabella behind cisse.

King Percy obviously is going to get Gouffran to be an additional defender, run his socks off -then replace him with Cabella in the second half (injuries permitting).

I’d of preferred to see Haidara at LB with Colo and dummett playing CB.

However we have to remember Giroud is a big bloke and is quite good in the air and as much as i don’t really like Willo I think it’s a safe bet and i’d rather see him marking Giroud than watching Colo being outjumped all day long

Cabella is a CAM when Sissoko is out of the team it free’s up Cabella’s favoured position. Yet when Sissoko has been out of the team Cabella has been droped. I just don’t understand it..? hopefully i’m proved wrong and gouffran finds some form.

I hope Colback and Tiote are not going to be tripping over each other. Colback has been great pushed forward of the defensive midfielder, and it is more efficient. Tiote does not need a defensive midfield partner. There is no need to have 2 men doing the job that 1 man can do.

Without Abeid and Sissoko we’ll do well to get a point from this match.

4-5-1 it is then with cisse isolated up top. Goofy as a second fb and willo getting terrorised. Would of preferred Dummett at CB and hairdryer in at LB.

With Abeid and Sissoko we would do well to get anything!

I’m more nervous about this game than the chelsea one. Arsenl are our bogey team. They’ve been beating us comfortably for years now and our inability to play any kind of passing game against 1 of the best passing teams in the PL will result in a very long 90 mins of defending and hopeing for the best. Not looking forward to this one. Suprise me lads….

totally agree, gouffran hasn’t even been playing well, cabella needed to start this one for me, sissoko is a big miss a draw would be a good result.

Didn’t Perez play in the hole against burnley with little impact? Perfect time to play cabella there imo, ya know with debuchy in at CB n all that. Perfect time to have a go at em. Nar, like someone said reverting to type, old habits die hard for the king.

I can’t see this being a very fun game to watch for a Newcastle supporter. Chances will likely only come on counterattacking.

I hope Colback takes charge of this team early. He’s the only one who can consistently dictate possession.

My fear is that Tiote will try & with predictable hoofing results to an offside Cisse

Alright lads, reader for many years. First time poster. Thanks for keeping me occupied at work!

Looks a bit defensive today. Thought he’d treat this as a free game given our result against Chelsea and Arsenal’s current back 4. Hopefully Gouff has rediscovered some attacking form during his time out

WHY WHY WHY are Willo and Goofy back and we’re reverting to 4231 !!

Colo is fine with Dummet in the middle and Goofy offers us nothing in his wrong position.

Always 1 step forward, 2 back again

Arsenal are still very strong. Buoyed by the 4-1 thrashing. They’ll score more than they concede.

My prediction is arsenal 4 Newcastle 2. An exciting game. A game where we would be proud in defeat with our players giving their all.

Williamson = the tallest defender who will NEVER won any header

Gouffron = attacking mid/forward who FORGET how to move forward

If we get a bad result there, there will be only one person to blame. Alan pardew, for his square pegs in round holes.

Perez playin behind cisse, perez is a Winger who can play second role as a striker. He’s not a 2nd striker!!!

Yeah disagree with Williamson in and Dummett switching across if Haidara is fully fit. He’s on the bench which suggests he probably is fit enough..?
Fear for CB pairing now. But hope Willo pulls a special game out.

    Still dont get pardew.

No sissoko so need someone to provide a threat, surely haidara LB links up well with Sammy to attack their new RB. Plus Dummett hasnt put a foot wrong at CB at all.

Then we need a10 to replace Sissoko, Cabella is a 10, and played there vs Burnley. Why oh why pick Gouffran and put Perez at 10 when he was crap there against Burnley.

Surely Perez to RW, Cabella to 10, Dummett CB and Haidara LB.

But still, lets see what hapoens.

Every time we move forward, he still has his favourites who arent performing and still get in ahead of younger players.

But will be happy to be proved wrong by Pards and come away with a win.

3-0 to the Mags, Gouffran 2, Willo 1.
