Which Of These Three Top Strikers Should Newcastle Sign?

Newcastle are presumably in prime position to sign Danny Ings, who is out of contract next June at Burnley, and Newcastle will try to sign the 22 year-old in January.

Danny Ings – 22 year-old Burnley striker

That’s the news being reported today in the Star and they call it an exclusive – which is rather strange since for almost every Sunday over the last several weeks – Danny Ings is one of the strikers we are linked with.

The question is whether Newcastle will go in for him during the January transfer window, since we could do with a striker for the second half of the season.

And Danny did himself no harm at all playing for Burnley against Newcastle in th e1-1- draw about 11 days ago, and he was easily Burnley’s best player on the night.

Serbian International Aleksandar Mitrovic

Newcastle have also been linked strongly with Anderlecht’s 20 year-old Serbian International striker Aleksandar Mitrovic, who is only 20 years old and in great demand by a number of top clubs, but could cost something north of £10M.

That’s a lot of money for Newcastle owner Mike Ashley to even think about spending on one player. 😀

German International striker Max Kruse

Newcastle have also been linked with a January move for 26 year-old German International striker Max Kruse, who plays for Borussia Monchengladbach, and is currently starting for the German National side.

Max would cost around £7M – according to reports – so of these three strikers Danny Ings would probably be the cheapest at around £3M – given he has only seven months of his Burnley contract to run, and will become a free agent in the summer.

Given those approximate transfer fees – which striker would you want  Newcastle to sign in January?

I think we clearly need a focal point, a genuine presence up front that can hold the ball up and bring players into the game as well as score goals. They had Giroud, we had Papiss and I’m afraid they had the better player. Cisse is a goalscorer, who offers little else, and without service offers basically nothing. I think we’d actually be better off nurturing Sammi as a centre forward, with DeJong or Sissoko in behind, and Cisse off the bench to finish sides off, out of what we have now.

Ed – Knowing how NUFC operate in transfer windows, coupled with little ambition other than avoiding relegation, how about a box that says “There will be no signings in January”!!

    C’mon Ed, keep up.

The owner of the Star (Desmond) has recently given £300k to Ukip.

Now if the Star’s owner’s living in a fantasy world, then whatever that red-top prints is fantasy too.

How about we sign..ALL OF THEM! We’re toothless upfront and only Ayoze Perez seems to know what he’s doing in front of goal.

    Mitrovic and Ings’d do nicely.

Personally think Ings’d be a really good fit for us, no way back for Riviere or even a start in sight for Ferreyra IMOA.
