Williamson, Gouffran And Cisse All Start – Santon On Bench

nufc emblemeverton fc

Alan Pardew has just announced the team got the game at home to Everton today and Papiss Cisse makes a start, and as we expected, Mike Williamson comes in for Steven Taylor at center-back.

Newcastle United (4-2-3-1): Jak Alnwick; Daryl Janmaat, Mike Williamson, Fabricio Coloccini (c), Paul Dummett; Cheick Tiote, Jack Colback; Ayoze Perez, Moussa Sissoko, Yoan Gouffran; Papiss Cisse
Substitutes: Freddie Woodman, Davide Santon, Steven Taylor, Vurnon Anita, Remy Cabella, Adam Armstrong, Emmanuel Riviere

It looks like it’s a 4-2-3-1 formation today and still no Sammy Ameobi.

But the central midfield is strong with Cheick Tiote back and Moussa Sissoko and Jack Colback also in there.

And it’s good to see Davide Santon finally back and he’s on the bench today for the first time this season.

In fact it’s quite a strong bench today, and it looks like Vurnon Anita is OK, after he limped off in the game at Old Trafford.

Both Remy Cabella and Adam Armstrong could see some playing time today, and Alan Pardew again gives Yoan Gouffran another start, which is a little surprising given his form of late.

More fans think we will lose this game than think we will win it.

Joel, Coleman, Distin, Alcaraz, Garbutt, Baines, Barry (C), McCarthy, McGeady, Eto’o, Kone.

substitutes: Griffiths, Oviedo, Lukaku, Mirallas, Besic, Barkley, Browning

Kone plays, there is hope for us yet.

Honestly Gouffran and Williamson starting again ?

This would have been an ideal game for Cabella to start as Everton are not great at marking players so he will get time on the ball

Not overly happy with our selection, but Everton’s team isn’t one that strikes fear into me. No Barkley, no Lukaku, no Mirrallas, no Jagielka, no Howard.

    Toonking,
    Perez is starting mate.

Are you kidding me? Pardew has shoehorned Santon onto the subs bench after a decade out in front of Haidara, who has hardly put a foot wrong and eclipsed Dummett in every performance? Come on……!! This guy is winding us all up surely? And if Saylor is fit enough for the bench. hes fit enough to replace Willo, with or without a head. Cabella on th bench and Gouffran starting out of position…AGAIN?

dont worry, cabella will get a run in the 75th down 1-0. generate a couple of decent chances before everton go up 2-0 on the counter. weve seen this play out before. pardew=gutless.

If Cisse is in danger of injury, this is a crazy game to play him in.

Everton had 56% possession away at Southampton, so you can imagine what they will do to Cisse running around on his own. Very busy day for our number 9 on the horizon.

holy shit willo and colo together we will defo concede more than 1 but will that be enough for everton win .. ofcourse cos gouffran ffers nothing and neither does cisse in gameplay. willo, tiote and gouffran same team with pardew in charge is 99.9% defeat trust me

I just cant see how we can create enough chances in this game with that team only Janmaat , Sissoko and Perez look like they can do anything offensively

Sissoko has only looked good in the middle when we have had Sammy/Aarons and Obertan playing and none of them are fit so he gets crowded out in the middle its games like this we need a Cabaye pulling the strings with Sissoko taking advantage of the space created out wide on the wing which he was excellent on the wing before Cabaye left

Fear a 3 nil defeat today and this could get the crowd back angry again

We’ve done our homework and I thought this was the game for Williamson to come in, for sure. But Eto’o and Kone were a real threat for them today, 100%. Williamson’s been terrific for us when called upon, definite, so it was unexpected at the way they cut us open, a little bit, if I’m honest.

What a terrible line-up. Dummett is not great at LB because he isnt comfortable on the ball, as soon as he is closed down regardless of how far out the person is he just smacks it down the pitch. Him and Williamson do this which means we get absolutely no possession. To me its the most frustrating thing about us. At least Steven Taylor can choose a pass and not just hoof it. Haidara not there is frustrating also because santon can play RB so he can cover for Janmaat. Gouffran again is a p*ss take. Our best player in perez out wide. Great stuff Pardew. Back to picking favourites. W**ker!
