It seems that one player, Sammy Ameobi, could return to the team that takes on Burnley at home tomorrow in the first game of 2015, and the first game in the post Pardew era at Newcastle.
John Carver – in charge tomorrow
Sammy will have a late fitness test to decide whether he starts the game against Burnley.
Burnley are second bottom of the league, and we should really be beating teams like this at home, but we are catching Burnley when their confidence is high, after getting a great 2-2 draw at Manchester City on Sunday, when they came back from 2-0 down.
And the woes of Newcastle continue with top scorer Papiss Cisse being banned for three games for violent conduct, so we will not see Papiss until late February, after he has played at the African Cup of Nations with Senegal
Davide Santon and Jonas Gutierrez played a practice game yesterday, but we don’ know what the status of Davide is at the moment since he seems to have picked up an ankle injury – we’ll assume he ‘s not available.
We think Jonas could well be on the bench tomorrow.
This could be the team that John Carver starts tomorrow:
Alnwick
Janmaat Williamson Coloccini Dummett
Tiote Sissoko Colback
Perez Armstrong Ameobi
Subs: Woodman Taylor (S) Gouffran Anita Cabella Gutierrez Riviere
As usual, and especially with Papiss being out, it will be difficult for us to score goals, and that’s why we are starting local lad Adam Armstrong up front, with Perez out on the right – where he will still be dangerous.
This will also be Cheick’s last game until he’s off to the African Cup of Nations with the Ivory Coast.
We need the win tomorrow after all that’s happened since Sunday.
What would your team be for tomorrow?
Fans seem fairly confident we can get the win tomorrow.

Comment #1Can’t see Perez being pushed out wide or Armstrong starting. Cabella needs a run out under Carver.

Comment #3Look what you’ve gone and done, he’s left us, what we going to do now, who we going to get, it’s the end of the world. What on earth makes anyone think Frank Worthington would want to come here and be the mouthpiece for Mike Ashley anyway after seeing Pardew bottle it and pack his bags, two quits and a heart attack will not have gone unnoticed in the managerial world, for all the doom mongers looking forward to 12th place finish with at least three more hidings this season and a fifth derby defeat, this chapter might seriously force Mashley to rethink his ways.

—–socks tiote cobba

No true striker in there so pez as a false 9
Pace and movement from the front 3
Solid MF 3 which also has some passing ability and power.

Comment #10I’m not even considering JC as a manager, all assistants takeover for a few games or until the end of the season, I don’t think beingba Geordie will grant him any special favours, his fall outs with the fans, especially the more vocal away fans, have shed him in the light as very much one of Ashleys men, the crowd would initially get behind him but tge same sh1t football as his predecessor would see the crowd give him worse than I ever think they gave Pardew.

I would be keeping away from 4231. Pardews favoured system and mostly meant defeat. All our available forwards are the type who need support, so not really worth having one as a lone striker.

Comment #14No idea who Carver likes so I think its pretty impossible to know how hes going to line up. He may like people who arent starting under Pardew. I just hope he doesnt drop perez!

Comment #15The 433 or the diamond would be nice, though.

Comment #16That’s the team I’d pick too mark. Possibly swap sammy with rivvy to start as I’d like to see what he can do as part of an attacking front three plus sammy has far more impact off the bench, very lacksadaisical for me when starting. Head in the clouds, oh yeah I’m playing I er best run.

Comment #17Burnley will fancy this one under the circumstances.
Just shows us how unnattractive the Newcastle job is when even Bruce and Pullis dont want it.
Ide give it to Howe, he,s used to working with no money and has done a superb job at Bournemouth.
