Who Was Newcastle’s Best Player Against Burnley?

Newcastle got a point against Burnley with a 3-3 draw today, but we should really be winning these games and at 2-1 up at half time it looked like we could get all 3 points, but just as they had done at Manchester City last week, Burnley came storming back in that second half and they will even think themselves unlucky not to take all 3 points.

Jack Colback shoots home today in the first half

Our defense looked very poor and all at sea this afternoon, and if we don’t improve in the next 9 days we could be taken to the cleaners at Chelsea a week on Saturday.

All three goals conceded today could have been prevented, and in case John Carver doesn’t know what the priority is before Saturday it’s to sort out the defense.

But first things first – and we play at Leicester City on Saturday in the FA Cup 3rd round.

Steven Taylor picked up an injury and he left the ground on crutches. 🙁

I’m angry. We’ve thrown away yet more points in games we should be winning.

Perez. No real contest for what must be the 5th consecutive match!

    colwell

sadly plenty like willo seem to make the grade in english football where having any technical ability is a premium and lumps like him seem to be favoured over ball players.

Saylor is made of glass and shoudn’t really keep getting contracts for his 11 games a season.

Although toonbrother is over the top with Colo, he was extremely poor and shaky today

Basically 3 dodgy CBs and a very poor 3rd choice keeper and it showed.

Aww haha, stopped posting as I got depressed by all the negativity aha. Hoping everyone can be less hostile to each other now that everyone wants the same thing!

Hate to say it but Alnwick isn’t going to make it in the prem. He is young for a keeper, but at his age all the top keepers were competent, even Krul was class at that age. Feel bad though, he’s just a young kid and this will have crushed his confidence 🙁

Seriously need Tim Krul back. Young lad just isint good enough well not yet anyway as everyone knows keepers get better with age. I must say if Tim Krul was in nets today there is no way in a million them 3 goals would not have went in. Jack Alnwick and Mike Williamson is a perfect blend for disaster. Championship players we need to address that situation.

People need to stop saying Mike is a good guy he comes in and does the job, because he doesn’t he is poor gets out paced by everyone and the times he has came on we have conceded ie Chelsea/ Today. He has played one good game this season and thats it.

bright first half 2 goals in 30 mins things were looking up

second half was dire riviere should have stayed on and taylor getting crocked didn’t help

don’t think any1 at the back had a good game jaanmatt going forward was ok

how willo get into the back line in front of dummett is beyond me

2 points lost but carver has only had the players a couple of days and I should think its been a bit of a whirlwind for all concerned players and coaches,

big plus is no more pardew

perez for me how good can he get

    perez AGAIN!

proves what i was saying all along, we have got a team that is packed with sh1t

the same player getting MOTM every single game only happens when he is much better quality that the rest of the them.

recent weeks the desperation to see
OBATAN (a sh1t player prior to this season) and ARRONs (a youngster not known before now) proves how crap we are.

a defender as sh1t as willo still get himself chances.

a team can only really bring 1 sub that is good enough to change the game (cabbella).

We should start a petition to FREE TRANSFER / Terminate Alwicks contract. He is totally useless. Get a proper keeper in January, the defence is not looking steady because they are unsure of their last line, which is ALWICK.

    First goal was his fault

    Second goal was positioning

Third goal – wow, his hand to the ball was so soft, it was like he just jacked off during half time team talk in the shower and was lacking strength after that

Ye,a Perez again, Burnley deserved the three today imo, our so called defence were all over the gaff, no protection from midfield either, Gouffy total anonymous, Dummet had a stinker, I still like young Arma but nothing at all happened for the lad, willy was well “willy” mmmm not good enough, I did think Riviere was doing ok to be fair and wasn’t expecting him coming off, Perz again very good, Sissoko good n bad, Young Alnwick though just is not going to make it I think, just not at this level im afraid, so yea Burnley who have been playing well of late deserve a point at the very least.

I don’t understand why fans think Mcclaren is the way forward. Such a boring person, and has been known to play dire football (apart from derby) second rate manager, would rather stick with carver and get a klopp/de boer/galtier

Agreed, was never too fussed about forcing him out due to lack of alternatives, but I’m glad he’s gone. Wonder if he’ll write a thank you letter to the fans 😉

The only manager I can realistically see Big Mike going for that wouldn’t be a car crash is McClaren. With the exception of England, which makes all managers look terrible, he’s had a pretty successful career. No chance managers like Pardew, Bruce or Pulis would ever succeed in European leagues.

agree re mcclaren. derby fans are worried he might go. I think that says enough

and to call him a failure is incredibly hyperbolic. England was his only real “failure” and that’s simply down to the fact that the England team has and is vastly overrated

As for Pards I will be amazed if he doesn’t make some public statement towards us fans but he won’t say a word against Ashley

Personally, I can see the next manager of the club being right under our noses in Fabricio Colocinni,

He has consistently proven himself loyal to Alan Pardew, which means that he is, by association, loyal to Ashley’s plan for the club (given how Pardew’s management was solely to enact MA’s method of running the club) so I’d be amazed if MA goes for anyone outside of his ‘circle of trust’ of which there are:

    Dennis Wise (too toxic)
    Joe Kinnear (ditto)
Terry Venables (out of the game too long)
Glenn Hoddle (already has a decent job)
Alan Pardew (departing the sinking ship)

He’ll most likely recruit from within I reckon, just depends who that person may be.

There is no doubt at all that the defence is very poor.
We should have replaced Willo in the summer gone; replaced Saylor this month and then Collo next summer. We introduce some quality and some pace, mobility yet retain some continuity.

    Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

I can not believe some of the comments here on this site. Carver out, he can’t even hold on to a lead, his team selection was terrible.

Ok I agree haidara for gouffy was not a clever change. But he’s gettin judged on one performance. It’s not even like lost the game. This is fickle.

I remember one time when I was young, Fergie was attending a funeral and couldn’t manage the team, left it to his assistant, & his assistant lost the game. And I’m sure Fergie assistant was a much bigger name back then than carver.

There was a point long time ago man united fans were calling for Fergie head near the start. He certainly didn’t build his legacy over night.

Overall today, it wasn’t great, they hit the woodwork 3 times yes, but we took a point. It could have been worse. We could have lost.

Plus how good did we start off the first ten minutes. It’s about progression, let’s take the positives, and try to build on them

apart from england steve mclarean has been known to play great football.

    A) won boro a league cup
    B) took then to a UEFA cup final
    C) won the league with FC twenty

the worst thing he has done is missed out on euro 2008 but even fabo cappello can’t do well and his club record is great.

So Taylor has his customary season ending injury. Shame as he was getting some good form. We desperately need a CB now, Willo and Colo will see us get battered for the rest of the season.

Hoping Mclaren is true, an excellent coach which is what we need. Has actually won something and has experience and connections in Holland and Germany which has widened his acumen.

In mitigation, Carver isn’t responsible for the own goal and the appalling goal keeper. On the other hand, he should have given a chance to a creative player like Cabella. This was a typical good half/horror half from Newcastle.
