Let us know who you think was Newcastle’s best player in the dismal 1-0 defeat at Leicester City that eliminated Newcastle from the FA Cup at the first attempt – the fourth time in the last five years that has happened.
Jak Alnwick brilliantly saving from a Chris Woods header

Comment #81Looking at the team today, it is clear the cup is still not a priority. To be fair perhaps it should not be when you have no manager.
On the plus side, if we had of won that today it may have given carver some claim to the job permanently and that is just delaying the inevitable.
Carp day of course but to be honest there is a bigger fish to fry and that is premier league survival and a new progressive manager.

To say obertan looked only slightly better than his past performances makes no sense to me as he has had some shockers. You mention montero yet he is very inconsistent, has had a couple good games which get highlighted on match of the day and lots of people join the bandwagon saying he’s great etc but he’s also had some anonymous and average games too in a team that actually plays to his strengths. I’m not saying obertan is brilliant but his performances for us this year suggests he is improving and actually learning and worth keeping hold of whilst also buying another winger.
For me, I judge a players performances yearly, what’s happened in the past is the past. When pre season starts it’s a new slate so yeah, I would have obertan over Ben arfa on this seasons performances, at least obertan works for the team whereas Ben arfa only runs when he has the ball.

Mick Harford. He was going to be in charge of UK recruitment. At the time he was assistant manager at Millwall. He has since become their Chief Scout/Head of Recruitment.

i would actually prefer obatan!
HBA might have all the skill but as i said before it’s the pace of obatan that i like more than anything, now he’s got a RB which can get forward, before it was simpson, a RB who rarely seemed effective going forward. HBA himself is far too ball greedy and we might as well do hoofball to him whilst all the opposition are in our half.
the reason he’s so vital is we’ve no longer got that CF who will need lots of players surrounding, cisse is a poacher and perez is a week but fast one, therefore we can allow more players to close down the CAT and wingers, speed is the best thing to solve the problm as they can find lots of space and like strong phsical CFs, a fast winger himself will need lots to close down on him therefore we allow more space for the CAM and strikers.
he’s not a great great winger but at the minute he’s the 2nd best after arrons.

Comment #90Another point regarding obertan, you keep saying how he was so bad in the past that makes him look better now. I could say the same about the people who because of his past bad performances don’t give him the credit he deserves for any good performances he gives now.

Comment #93Why do you always pose this stupid question especially after a defeat.
What does it matter.
