This Is The Coach Newcastle Fans Want – Poll Results

German coach Thomas Tuchel is leading our poll of nine candidates, who could become the next Newcastle United head coach.

thomas tuchel

Thomas Tuchel – 41 year-old former Mainz head coach

Tuchel is taking a year off from coaching and is still under contract at Mainz until the end of June,  although he has said he doesn’t want to work again until the summer.

Thomas has 30% of the vote and he’s followed by former Lyon coach Remi Garde with 21%, and another Frenchman, St Etienne coach Christophe Galtier,  is in third place on 13%.

Then comes the first British coach with Steve McClaren in fourth place on 9%, and Steve us rebuilding his reputation with some great work at Derby County.

It’s interesting that John Carver is bottom of the poll with only 2% and you’ve got to think that the performances and results of the two games he’s been in charge of as the caretaker manager. have hurt his chances of getting the job at Newcastle.

There’s still time to vote if you haven’t already done so.

One vote per reader.

Seems a small poll considering the number of managers who have been linked with the job

Its John Carver for me. He offers continuity and knows the Toon inside out. Getting knocked out of the Cup will also help his case. I can see Mashers rubbing his hands thinking about better Premiership survival chances. Lets keep faith in Carver and the old guard.

i know it was unlikely stone and carver would follow pardew south but it seems we are stuck with them and wodman and the analyst guy so wonder how much it would cost to get rid of them too

I reckon Carver is harder than Pards and can stick a better nut on. Perfect for the job.

The problem with Ashley is he shows no ambition .

Most NUFC fans would accept the trade off having Sports Direct plastered everywhere so long as we showed ambition in cups, and we replaced players sold immediately with the full amount received.

If you look at the team we could have had in his time here it would be some force in the PL, especially with a decent manager :

    —————————Krul——————————

    –Janmaat——–Collo——-M’biwa———Enrique–

    ————Sissoko———————-Cabaye———–

    —Cabella————–De Jong—————-Aarons—

    —————————–Ba——————————–

Also he needs to stop getting in managers he knows and bring someone talented in .

Carver would be a disaster. He’s a f’ing idiot. Need him and Stone gone.
Know we scored from a corner against Burnley but if you look at our set pieces over the last few years they’ve been the worst in the league (2 years without a goal from a corner ffs).
That is as much down to the coaches as Pardew, more so even.

Can’t see Ashley clearing them all out but I strongly believe with a better setup (manager and coaches), getting the basics sorted, we’d be much healthier.
We’ve had no identity in our play under Pardew. Relying on individuals far too much – Ba, Cisse, Remy, now Perez.
A decent setup, with the right players would easily get top half.

We will end up with a washed up desperado as our head coach.
In the time Ashley has been here he has systematically sucked the life blood out of our great club. I would love to be proved wrong but time and again he has continually let’s us down. Expect Curbishley or O’leary. Klop, Benitez, De boer? More chance of a rocking horse having a shit.

These polls leave a nasty taste in the mouth after the “hitzfeld for the toon” campaign a number of years ago.
Freddy Shepherd thought it was someone attempting stimulate betting trends and completely discounted as possible and great candidate.
I think this is the same, all we can do is sit back and wait for the process to pan out in front of us.

One day I hope someone can explain what this infatuation with Hoddle is all about?

…has it something to do with going down memory lane. You know sometimes it’s better leaving certain things in the past – you might spoil it!

    Just saying 😉

Carver is nailed on. He offers continuity and will cost nowt. He will also do as he is told. Sell to buy and always state that the sun shines out of the big man’s hint end. Perfect for the job.

I find it laughable that Carver has said he is a “fan” and wants the best for the club, yet he has been a big part of the problem for the last few years and blatantly dropped players for yesterdays game after orders from upstairs .

If we keep him its just Pardew mk2 except with a different accent .
