Newcastle Surprisingly Linked With Danish Winger

We don’t know how true the story is that Newcastle and West Ham are both after Celta Vigo winger Michael Krohn-Dehli  – maybe the Hammers are but we find it hard to believe the Magpies would be interested.

Michael Krohn Dehli -Denmark_2770297

Michael Krohn-Dehli – Celta Vigo and Denmark winger

But there is one thing that would suggest this story is inaccurate and that is the Denmark winger is 31 years old, and Newcastle like to sign players 26 years old or younger and certainly not over 30.

With young wingers like Sammy Ameobi, Rolando Aarons and Callum Roberts coming through the ranks, why would we want a 31 year-old winger brought into the club?

The high priority in January is for a striker and a center-back – simply because we are very short of talent in those two specific positions.

Michael has 47 caps for Denmark – and he is a free agent in the summer,  so he could be brought in for a nominal fee this month – but we are almost 100% certain there’s no way this player will be arriving on Tyneside.

A much better option for Newcastle would be AC Milan’s M’Baye Niang, who is also a free agent in the summer, and we have already been linked with an interest in buying the 20 year-old this month.

There will be a number of stories in January linking Newcastle with players we are just not interested in – this is one of them.

What do you think?

If we’ve learned anything from recent years, it’s that the regime will afford the new coach time and couldn’t give a toss what the fans think. So I believe they will have the time to do what they want/need to do.

As you say though it is results dependant to a certain degree, however we have the squad now to be able to see out this season so I shouldn’t see it being much of an issue.

One thing that they do need to do though is come in and do a proper and thorough internal investigation into how the hell we record so many injuries. That is a priority for me. It’s killing our seasons dead year after year.

Thanks for coming back to me.

I live in a foreign country so I am definitely not xenophobic.

But unless my eyes and ears have deceived me haven’t there been chants and banners about Cockneys ? Irrespective of the merits or otherwise of people like Hoddle a few on this blog have mentioned that he is from the South.

I agree with you about not enough British managers being technically progressive. I think this is less to do with the individuals and more to do with English clubs being obsessed with the short term primarily because of money and fan pressure for immediate results. Is David Moyes, after yesterday, going to be another Brit to add to that very short list ?

I disagree with you about the Dutch in that they are very argumentative amongst themselves. I didn’t know about the racial angle you mentioned.

Would love to think we’d go in for Reid, he fits our blueprint to the T. However you have to assume that if he’s leaving West Ham it’s because he’s on his way to a top club. We would be a sidestep.

It would be great to think that a good Head Coach is given the same amount of time as Pardew but with different and better results !!

If he’s in contact with Man U already there’s no chance he would consider us. A more realistic option would be to offer 500K to Forest to release Lascellas to us early. He’s been mostly on the bench but for us he would be useful to slot in alongside Colo. I can’t take Williamson for too much longer, has absolutely no mobility or agility.

    You’re quite right you know.
Any coach/manager who comes from the London area will very quickly be known as a !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cockney !!!!!!!!!!!!! by a number on here just as soon as he hits a poor run of results.

On Lee Ryder’s shortlist – He’s just written:
“Newcastle – like every other football club – would never go public with a list of managers they wanted and they wouldn’t release a statement on such a story. The material you read on ChronicleLive comes from trusted club sources.”

blimey the blog has fast forwarded a few threads since my last participation.

We’ve had my granddaughter around so entertaining her has taken precedence.

Played UNO, she won fairly and squarely thrashed us in fact.

Also did some colouring in, she did a beautiful country scene I did Fred Flintstone. As I did I was wondering if he would be a good manager.

This led me into deeper realms of fantasy and the thought of us having a having a CGI manager sprang to mind, perhaps a holographic image of Klopp if we can’t have the real thing. Can’t be any worse than some of the real ones we’ve had or some of the speculative ones being put forward.

We could do with a few top experienced players, but hes to old with no resale value for Mikey.

on a manager there will be a lot of disappointed fans it’s MA and his regime who’ll pick someone willing to work as a yes man, that’s more important to MA than what goes on the pitch.

I think the new guy will be some one who 1/ Does’t need to bring other staff with him. 2/ Has experience of the head coach system.3 / Will be available now. 4/ Has the proven coaching skills to bring on younger players .5/ Last but not least has experience with working with top class players. That’s from thr chronny list only. IMHO gents

See The Mirror is now linking Perez with a move to Arsenal or Man Utd this January. With all due respect to the idiots who make this up but why would a young player like Perez, who is rumoured to have turned down bigger clubs than us, leave us when he’s playing week in week out to join a club where he’ll struggle to make the bench? Only way it will happen is if they buy him off us and then loan him back for the rest of the season but I don’t see that happening either.

it will have to be a progressive young coach, preferably French who can develop in a small club like the toon before progressing on to a Crystal Palace type Giant.
I would give him an 8 year contact in the hope he will not be tempted by the huge salaries on offer at the Palace’s in the Premiership or Championship.
The key to the magic trick is to make sure he is really PROGRESSIVE.

There may a tiny minority of slack jawed witless hair chewers who bring up the controversy of a ‘southern’ manager but I don’t think that’s mainstream thinking by a long long way. Many fans are clamouring for a foreign manager above all else so I don’t think it’s southern per se, just dull English managers. I suppose there is merit in trying to get a more ‘local’ man in who would perhaps have more empathy and understanding of the regional ideology, you know, work ethic and such like. But I don’t know of such an animal.

Apart from George Burley if course 🙂

I would be very surprised if there is much transfer in activity this window, what with the hunt for a new ‘coach’ and preparing portfolios, classified ads etc, for our more valuable players
