Sissoko Happy On Tyneside – To Sign New Deal At Newcastle?

You can excuse Newcastle fans who think that Moussa Sissoko will be the next player to leave Newcastle for big money after we’ve seen Yohan Cabaye, Demba Ba and Andy Carroll leave th club in three of the last four January transfer markets – and not be replaced.

Moussa Sissoko – happy at Newcastle

However there was a reaction to the story in Eurosport France yesterday, that said Newcastle were in advanced negotiations for Sissoko’s transfer to PSG.

A source within the club said it was basically nonsense, and Goal has a report out where they quote a Newcastle source.

This is what their source said:

“There are no talks at all, indeed Moussa has never been happier, he loved captaining the side recently and is very settled in the area,”

Indeed the news today is that Newcastle United have put a whopping price of £25K on the French International’s head – and it’s unlikely many clubs will pay that much for the powerful 25 year-old who has 27 caps for France.

We hope that’s true.

Moussa has been one of our best players this season, and if we are to build a top side again, we have to stop selling our best player every season.

The source also told Goal that Moussa, rather than wanting to leave the club, is in talks with Newcastle on a new deal.

We hope this particular report is accurate. 😀

Moussa joined Newcastle from Toulouse two years ago for £2M and he has made 78 appearances with nine goals for the Magpies.

25k think I might bid on him at that price and then loan him to the club for 2 mill a season plus his wages

Good post by 9 on the previous thread, and I doubt too many would argue with it. But the sticking point is simply how ordinary we have been on the pitch under Ashley’s ownership, not how well we have done in the balance ledger, and the contention being will the latter be reflected in a better side in the future or a we destined to plod on evermore.

Depends, if we got De Boer and show a bit of ambition – Sissoko will stay.

If we keep on struggling and only aim for top 10, he will leave.

No chance of this lad signing a new deal, we got him in the first place as his contract was running out, hence how we got him and how he was so cheap, he was always going to use us as a stepping stone.

At best he will stay the rest of the season, at worst gone on January 31st with as usual no replacement brought in.

I dont think De Boer would be a good fit at the club, he has had fall outs with people at Ajax and is quite pig headed about doing things his way (which under any other owner would be a good thing as he would stick up for himself and take no crap), however that kind of thinking while working with Ashley is not going to work at all (I still remember Keegan nearly lost his job for saying we couldnt compete with the top 4, things are worse now as the bottom 4 are out spending us).

Garde would fit in well at the club, he would be quite happy to coach who he has and Lyon over the last few years have sold some decent players Briand, Gomis, Lovren, Martial. So he would have been used to losing his better players during the season.

I personally never fancied McClaren but he is doing a decent job at derby and he is more than likely a good yes man, I would be interested to see if he did come could he persuade Carr and Charney to buy that Will Hughes who is so highly rated and you would expect jump at the chance to play in prem
