Shock – English Coach Is New Favorite At Newcastle

Well would you believe it , we just checked on the odds for the Newcastle head coach position and we were expecting to see Remi Garde as the odds on favorite – as talks have reportedly began between him and Newcastle, but he’s not even the favorite at the moment.

tim sherwood

Tim Sherwood – the new favorite

There must have been an awful lot of money come in for Tim Sherwood because he’s listed at evens on SkyBet, and his odds have shortened on all the betting sites.

Here is the latest betting on SkyBet for the Newcastle head coach position:

Tim Sherwood 1/1
Remi Garde 5/2
John Carver 13/2
Frank de Boer 10/1

One thing Tim has in his favor is that he’s available and if offered the job, he would probably take it.

It would be interesting to know if he’s on the short list for Newcastle, and we suppose if he is, there’s no harm in talking to Tim, although he doesn’t tend to take any BS.

And he may not accept all the restrictions placed on the head coach at Newcastle by Mike Ashley.

Tim did very well when he took over at Tottenham last season from mid December of 2013, through the end of the season, when his win rate was exactly 50%.

His record at Spurs was played 28, won 14, drew 4 and lost 10 for a win rate of 50% and a loss rate of 36%.

Tim plays attacking football and has worked with the youngsters at Spurs, and he is currently waiting in the wings for a suitable coaching appointment to come along.

He was appointed Spurs head coach just before Xmas in 2013, when he got an 18-month contract until the end of this season, but the 45 year-old was sacked by Chairman Daniel Levy on 13th May 2014 – unlucky for some.

What do you think?

Whoever Ashley appoints he’ll be a puppet.

Carver has already showed he’s prepared to toe the line, field weakened teams and then lie to the fans.

Does he think we’re that stupid we’ll buy that six top players were all conveniently injured for a couple of days?

    Not me!
What a sell out. Shame on you!

Barca feilded a stronger team last night than they did in last weekends league match (which they lost). All with a ton of off feild turmoil. Just shows that proper clubs take all comps seriously regardless of circumstance. Ashley needs to take note of these things. I am not sayong we should be playing like Barca or owt stupid like that, but lessons can still be learned

It wouldn’t surprise me if Jabba appointed Ricky Tomlinson because he did a great job in Mike Basset.

I hope not, would rather keep JC than change it for someone who, apparently if the rumours at the time were true, upset a lot of players and lost the dressing room in a short space of time after he took over at Spurs, but he does fit MA’s main qualification for the job, he’ll come cheap

Asian cup kicked off in Melbourne tonight with Australia playing Kuwait. Just before hslf time and Australia winning 2-1 Cahill and Luongo after going a goal down after 9 minutes. Best player on the park……James Troisi….former NUFC reserve

If the story about Facundo Ferreyra is true and Newcastle will not cancel his loan until the new manager has had the chance to look him over, then that points to someone coming in before the end of January.

If it is garde, wonder if he will the cash to go and get grenier and lacazette.

Still hoping it’s de boer in the summer but that would please the fans so Ashley will make sure he’s not on the list.

No mate. Attacking midfielder with a decent left foot on him. He is owned by Juventus/Atlanta but loaned out to Waregem in Belgium at present

So MA selected the cup team? Or did he tell Carver to throw the game? Or…?

Lads, plenty of ammunition out there already. No need to make stuff up.

I am inclined to agree with you, I seem to remember he scored a hatrick for the reserves, I think it was him. But yes if he is still here he must be showing something.

big step backward if Sherwood got it, he was shown up at Spurs to be tactically poor and a hot head … we’ve already had one of them ..

3 big pluses about Remi Garde is his man management, attacking football and youth progression.
On the Ashley side of things when he was at Lyon the purse strings were just as tight.

I’d be DEVESTATED if we appointed this clown.

The only saving grace would be that he’d almost certainly bin off the likes of Carver and Stone and get his own team in.

But the dishonourable Sherwood of Londonshire? PLEASE GOD NO.

Just ask any Spuds fan. The man’s a liability.

Last year, he was loaned to Melbourne Victory for the season and he was outstanding. Scored 12 goals from midfield and won player of the year. He is still young but I think Italy is above him. He is doing really well in Belgium this year though.

    3-1 Australia….Jedinak with a penalty

What happened to Michael laudrop at one point there was talk of him becoming next Real Madrid manager and now he’s managing some Qatar club called Lekhwiya Sports Club. I would have him at Newcastle in a heart beat! Anyone else views on him ?
