Well would you believe it , we just checked on the odds for the Newcastle head coach position and we were expecting to see Remi Garde as the odds on favorite – as talks have reportedly began between him and Newcastle, but he’s not even the favorite at the moment.
Tim Sherwood – the new favorite
There must have been an awful lot of money come in for Tim Sherwood because he’s listed at evens on SkyBet, and his odds have shortened on all the betting sites.
Here is the latest betting on SkyBet for the Newcastle head coach position:
Tim Sherwood 1/1
Remi Garde 5/2
John Carver 13/2
Frank de Boer 10/1
One thing Tim has in his favor is that he’s available and if offered the job, he would probably take it.
It would be interesting to know if he’s on the short list for Newcastle, and we suppose if he is, there’s no harm in talking to Tim, although he doesn’t tend to take any BS.
And he may not accept all the restrictions placed on the head coach at Newcastle by Mike Ashley.
Tim did very well when he took over at Tottenham last season from mid December of 2013, through the end of the season, when his win rate was exactly 50%.
His record at Spurs was played 28, won 14, drew 4 and lost 10 for a win rate of 50% and a loss rate of 36%.
Tim plays attacking football and has worked with the youngsters at Spurs, and he is currently waiting in the wings for a suitable coaching appointment to come along.
He was appointed Spurs head coach just before Xmas in 2013, when he got an 18-month contract until the end of this season, but the 45 year-old was sacked by Chairman Daniel Levy on 13th May 2014 – unlucky for some.
What do you think?

Comment #82Let’s get a few things straight, we’re a big club as far support goes, but that’s it.
We’re run on a very tight budget, so it won’t matter who our future manager is, he won’t be able to get a top team together. We’ll aways just get to watch budget football as long as MA owns the club.

Comment #83Blanc rules out PSG move for Sissoko. He does not fit their profile or the rules of FFP qualification, he says.

why do you never answer when we spent nearly 50M on 6 players in the summer who don’t even start.
Ash is many things but it is pardew ”spinning” it something chronic that he has never been backed. ”Alan Pardew it’s never your fault, it’s never your fault.”

thats about it in a nutshell all the decent candidates were quick to rule themselves out from the managerial vacancy
however poor pardew was relagation was never really likely to happen

Comment #86BandB (or anyone who can answer),
What exactly are the “rules of financial fair play” mentioned by Blanc which prevents Sissoko signing with PSG in this window?

In simple terms a club cannot spend more than it can generate.

Just to add what you correctly say:
If Newcastle United was bought by an extremely rich person it doesn’t follow that they could lavish ‘unlimited’ amounts on the club.
The days of Abramovich and Mansour are gone. Both Chelsea and Man City have had to reign in their spending. ManU can spend huge amounts as their revenues could possibly be greater than that of Chelsea and Man City combined.

Comment #91wolfs..If some how some players start to perform well under the new mgr,a guy like Rotonda still blame pardew by saying pardew did this, pardew did that.He cannot give it a rest.I’m sure he won’t give the new guy a day by this awful standard. For the record, Pard is gone in good time!

Comment #92I make it at most 30 mill
But that isn’t the point we sell our best players as soon as there’s a decent profit to be had usually half way through a season and if and that’s a big if we replace them there usually with cheaper imports that might come good
Who would you rather have?
Ba Remy or rivi?

are you blind to the regime? Most of the players brought in were chancers, with future resale in mind, unfortunately some are injured or simply not good enough.
perez is a class player, but you can guarantee he’ll be cashed in by MA when the price is right, weakening a future managers squad.

Comment #95not Sherwood , anyone that has the ability to change a game when the chips are down, and that’s not him.
