Chelsea 2 Newcastle 0 – Video Highlights

Here are the video highlights of today’s game at Stamford Bridge where Newcastle looked a top side and outplayed Chelsea in that first half – but Chelsea came back well in the second half.

Maybe that was our best 45 minutes of football this season – we looked so good – so there’s still hope for the rest of the season. 😀

Ed there’s absolutely no chance of keeping up man!

I didn’t see enough of the game to ho for a MoM but I have to give credit to carver for starting Cabella. Should have started with Sammy maybe, and shame he still plays Willo at all, and Dummett at Lb. If he’d have pushed that boat out, might have been a better day who knows.

Sorry Willo, I must sound a bit like your personal toonbotherer

for the rest of this season i would say we stick with carver.

we all want to see FDB arrive and knowing he wont’ be able to arrive until the summer, the last thing we want to see appointed is manager/headcoach who can do great.

    so who better than carver?

yes he’s not the best but i’m sure he’ll provide better football now than he did last season, that time as assistant manager he probably was doing as pardew told him, now he will do as he wants, being a geordie, he should know attacking football is what we want.

if as expected he doesn’t perform well enough to guarentee us suvival over the course of a whole season we’ll see him leave during the summer and FDB appointed “hopefully.

but sadly not for us…that’s 5 away losses on the bounce apparently…but to be fair thats one of the most difficult games chelsea have had at home this year….we did well so no grouches from me…our main weakness has always been our defence and they let us down again today but the rest did very well indeed.

Decent first half but didn’t really expect anything at Stamford Bridge .

Cabella showing why he should be starting and needs a run of 4 or 5 games to get PL game time .

Anita was decent today although Willo again is not PL quality .

I’d be more than happy with that if FDB was DEFINITELY coming here, if not get someone asap.

I’m not great fan of willo and colo as a partnership, they both do ok when with others though, but our options are very limited, same as at left back, 3 players neither of which are much better than the other, so I have sympathy with any manager there.

Cabella was very very good today, first time I’ve seen him is his tricks to run at people at commit them, getting past a lot too, very impressive.

Gutted about the result today for us fans and player’s, especially after that first half display. What a shame we didn’t put away our chances whilst we were on top.

I mentioned earlier this morning that if we gave it a go and at least tried but lost then I wouldn’t be too disappointed. We tried, we failed and ultimately paid the price, albeit with a sucker punch which I’m sure many knew was coming or could envisage happening.

Did cabella finally come of age today? Looked much better.

Willo is not a premiership quality CB I’m afraid to say. Seems like a good guy and tries but it just isn’t good enough. Liability.

Much prefer to see dummett at CB as at LB he’s average at best. Who’d of thought we’d miss pumper eh lol.

All in all we gave a decent account of ourselves, away, at Chelsea.

De Boer has spoken again and described us as a sleeping giant once more, saying he is aware of the rumours but there will be no change until the summer.

Unless we get him signed up to join in the summer Id rather we get on and appoint a manager, who’s to say that come the summer there isn’t a more attractive job for him than us. Liverpool may be up for grabs, barca, arsenal, etc.

Also a commentator has just said pardew is encouraging his palace players to shoot more…enjoy the long shots for 90 minutes to boost stats.

We completely deserved something from that game.

2nd half they really came at us. All credit to the team for not letting their heads drop. We kept on trying.

If we play like that every game we’ll be fine.

It wasn’t the defence you’d take to Chelsea.

I don’t think it would be acceptable to risk the drop with carver, certainly not a risk I think Ashley would want to revisit after relegation season, and we arguably had a better team then.

Any guy who came in with the knowledge he could be bounced come season end would have a decent ho at trying to make the job his own. And I don’t think we should be holding our breath for a world class coach next season, or ever, under Mike’s rulership.

Two well worked goals, a sneaky first. Looks like they did not really deserve it on the balance of play but as we struggle to exert pressure and score, they got away with it. More encouragement than disappointment, if the attack keep going it will come and hopefully not too much longer. The ‘what f#ck’ defense need replacing but that will mean being worse before getting better.

    Come on ye Spurs.
Please let me have SOMETHING to SMILE about today – wipe the smile from the mug of Percy Parsnip and his worshippers at Palace.

why the hell are you not bloody happy with this game?

even Catchy and RH have spoken positively about the game and not bothered to talk about pardew’s game.

basically enough is enough, we’ve seen him leave now it’s time to show managers we will support them so who ever comes in knows we will get behind him whilst he puts up with the awful owner.

I could take such ill-founded moods of relief and joy over us being well-beaten, but not humiliated, if I didn’t know that it will be followed by an equally ill-founded storm of depression the next time we play a little bit WORSE than was expected.

Toonking: Do you really think FDB would want to move to a Championship side? Which if going by today a Championship side we certainly are not! My dream scenario would be two players bought, Carver till Seasons end with a Mid table finnish, and FDB taking over just before Pre-Season in July? Oh and NO Players out this Month! But then. again: It is only a Dream!

We need a manager now not in the summer!
