Magpies Keen On Signing Frenchman In January

Newcastle have been tracking 20 year-old M’Baye Niang for a number of years now – and it seems the French U21 International is available to move from AC Milan this month – but only on a permanent basis.

m'baye niang

20 year-old M’Baye Niang – keen to join Newcastle

Newcastle had a loan bid turned down by the Italian giants only last week, but discussions with Newcastle have been continuing since then, with the possibility of Newcastle making the deal permanent this month.

Niang has made it clear that his preference is to move to Newcastle United, where he will find a number of other French players, and he puts Newcastle ahead of Arsenal, Chelsea and Udinese.

Another thing that Niang will have seen,  is that Newcastle give their players a chance in the first team with Perez, just one year older than Niang,  having done so well over these last six months.

Niang is a skilful player with speed, and he is exactly the type of young player we should be signing – and who knows he may even emulate Ayoze Perez,  if  Niang arrives on Tyneside.

We wish!

Niang’s three year contract at the Italian club runs out in June, and it’s thought that Milan’s preference is to have him move on a permanent basis this month – and from what we can tell – Newcastle are in prime position to sign this youngster this month.

The Frenchman went out on loan to Montpellier a year ago and was impressive, and scored 5 goals in 22 total appearances for the French club.

The news is that Newcastle were willing to offer Davide Santon in a swap deal to get Niang through the door, but we’d be very surprised if that has any truth in it.

What do you think?

Wasn’t the offer only an extra 2M this time? (I say only, but its not really much in footy terms).

I still get the impression that they don’t really want to sell to anyone.

Think it is agamble as he has talent but hasnt shown it consistently yet. But for under 4m id say its a gamble worth taking, especially considering his age. Very few players are consistently top class by 20 so would be happy to see him come in.

This article explains that the delay is because some of the backroom staff that Garde would like to join him still work for Hubert Fournier the current Lyon manager – Garde will visit Benton tomorrow http://www.footmercato.net/premier-league/transferts/newcastle-veut-il-vraiment-remi-garde_145944

we’re definitely in need of a new quality striker, but we’re a business and spending big isn’t how the regime works.
After all MA knows SJP will still be full if he spends or not.

Well ashley is offski in 2016 if not sooner if he panic buys rangers or so it’s looking increasingly likely. Would it not be beneficial to offer players their contracts sooner thus increasing the assets / value of the business?

Ref the Rangers situation -Sky were saying it was a 20 million bid -which I think includes a lesser amount as an immediate emergency loan.
Tubbs is still well and truly in the game up there.
If Tubbs is putting that much effort into Rangers -my guess is that they will be cheaper to run and cause a lot less aggro than the Toon. Hence he will sell us.
Eventually Rangers fans (totally) will realise what his real intentions are and start an anti -campaign. However you’ll not see the southern press and biased pundits slagging off the Rangers fans as they did to our fans.

Would it not be a much better idea to sort out who is going to be Head Coach before they go spending Money on New Players?

    Just a thought, like!

I thought this was an interesting article yesterday:
    http://www.themag.co.uk/the-mag-articles/newcastle-united-wages-bill-hasnt-gone-8-years/?

“It’s a system designed to position Newcastle United as nothing more than a feeder club to other teams. One that would never see the club compete in any meaningful way. It may be a system that was deemed necessary if the club were to become self-financing, but now that this modest goal has been achieved, the question is whether it’s one that can evolve, so the club begin to keep more talent and discard more of the garbage.”

We all hope that now MA will invest the money that the club is making into to the first team squad, but all suspect that things will remain the same.

It was a £6.5m loan to get them them through this week, effectively. But the shareholders had to agree to the £20m takeover offer to get their hands on it. It needed 75 per cent of shareholders to agree. The board has told him this won’t happen and it’s not even worth putting it to a vote.

Niang signed a contract extension and his new deal is due to run out June 2017. This is the 3rd time you have reported his deal ends in June, if that was the case we would be able to sign him on a pre-contract now.

And also Milan have used his as a winger but he is a striker by trade! He just has better strikers ahead of him

“So as a manager, thinking about Ben Arfa, what has he done for Newcastle in the recent months?

“Nothing much. He’s costing a lot of money.

“But do you get rid of him? No.

“He’s a great talent. I would make sure that he will give me 100 per cent of his ability and talent in the future.

“I would not get rid of talent, because he’s probably one of the most talented players around.

“That’s for sure, and I know that.

“But it seems that people at Newcastle are not getting the best out of him, at all.”

Santon, Armstrong, Jonas and Sammy Ameobi all playing for #nufc reserves tonight against Bolton at Whitley Park (7pm)

Will be interesting to see which position Santon plays, however he is most likely to play in his more natural full back position to gain match fitness.

HBA is a complete head case, man. He was a tw@ before pardew, and will continue to be after until someone fixes his crappy attitude. He has all the ability in the world, but he is not interested in anything but himself and his own glory.

Pardew is no good, most accept that, but he is so clearly not to blame for HBA’s failing career. HBA only has himself to blame

    PLEASE,
Somebody explain to me what’s in owning Rangers for Mikle Ashley as there must be something he’s after. Shirt soponsorship would cost him 1.5M only so that’s not it, he can’t advertise SD in CL, PL is shown in just about every country in the world SPL isn’t. PL money is MORE than Scottish clubs get in CL. What then ?

    JFA,

We don’t know he does want to own Rangers outright.
At the moment Llambias and Leach are there to ensure his merchandising rights are protected from the club going bust. Rangers have 600 fan clubs around the world. The Glasgow diaspora dwarfs ours. His money will be in merchandising. Its US that is the wee club by comparison. He could get control of a champions league side for £30m. The Henry’s paid TEN TIMES that for Liverpool.

The reason Ashley will be so interested in buying Rangers is so he can use them as a worldwide brand to promote SD via the Champions League with minimal transfer funds required, it would cost him £50m+ to get Newcastle anywhere near the top 6, with Rangers he could fill and team with cheap French or Championship players and pretty much guarantee and top 2 finish in the SPL.

Look at players like Gary Hooper cost Celtics what £2m scored 30 goals a season up there. Couldnt get a game for Norwich in the EPL

Some say that French football is all about individual flair and less about team organisation, which explains why some are a double edged sword in the PL. If this is the case, what will a French coach be like organising and instilling a system of play at NUFC?

    List of PL French managers:
    Jacques Santini Spurs 2004
    Alain Perrin Portsmouth 2005
    Gérard Houllier Liverpool 2001 / Villa 2011
    Jean Tigana Fulham 2003
    Arsène Wenger Arsenal present

20% possibility of being a success?
