Freddy Shepherd Wants This Man In As New Head Coach

When Sir Bobby Robson was managing the club, Freddy Shepherd was the Newcastle Chairman and John Carver was Bobby’s assistant manager, and the team did very well over five years from 1999.

Freddy Shepherd – former Newcastle Chairman

The only poor year was in Bobby’s second season, when we had a lot of injuries including striker Alan Shearer being out for most of the season – but in the next season we finished in 4th place in the Premier League with 71 points.

The Former Newcastle United Chairman has today called on Newcastle owner Mike Ashley to give Geordie John Carver the head coach’s position on a full-time basis.

This is what Freddie ha said this morning on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show:

“I just hope John gets the job. I think he is worth giving him the chance.” “He is an experienced guy, he is a Geordie, and I think he should be given the chance.”

“It would be good for the club and good for the country, because we are getting too many European managers in.”

Not many Newcastle fans want John in as the new head coach – maybe because he’s untested at the highest levels and it would be a big risk?

Should John Carver Be The Head Coach At Newcastle?

But whoever is appointed as the new head coach he will need the support from the fans, because whoever it is he will want to do very well in the job – and that’s what the fans also want.

Now we know who put all the money on Carver!!

TS – on the debate you’ve been having with a couple on here about carver at southampton. I think Carver us in the wrong mate. The fans pay good money to see the team play and they have every right to be critical of King and his staff

With public discussion about the freedom of speech, we all have the right to complain, we all have the right to be annoyed, we all have the right to state how we feel and we all have the right to verbally defend our position. It is nonsense to not expect verbal reciprication but at no poont is there a justification for even the threat of violence.

Looking through the posts, we have really had some crappy managers here since KK – besides SBR I think most choices have been appalling!

Jesper, exactly. Where the person comes from is completely irrelevant. The job should go to the best applicant.
As for NUFC being “my life” what a load of patronising piffle.
It’s no wonder the rest of the country think were all backward.

IF it’s true that Charnley & Carr are doing due diligence in order to get the right head coach , does that mean we’ve already spoken to the people involved & they’ve agreed to come? I just wonder how many they are scrutinizing because it’s taking a long long time & pointless wasting time looking into people who aren’t interested in the job.Does that sound right or is it me having a senior moment?

deep down were looking for a change from this appointment a man the club will back, transfers done properly, competing in the cups and a more entertaining style of play

    I am braced for disappointment

    Who cares?

The club has no ambition and is disrespectful to the fans and to the game.

Can’t risk trying to win because Ashley’s scared of relegation.

Stop buying season tickets … wave white tissues/hankies in silent protest.

Its no wonder people think Newcastle fans are xenophobic when you have former chairmen like this making stupid comments

Hes a Geordie he should get the job too many foreign managers bla bla bla never heard so much crap in my life

The best managers are foreign because they have taken the time to learn their skills , will play young players and can deliver technical football who was the last English manager to do that?

As fans we see the installation of a new head coach as an investment, whatever the cost. However most of us are intelligent enough to understand that a summertime enrolment may have practical benefits. But we need definite assurance that there is actual and strong statements of interest from potential candidates that will improve the current expectations of the club itself.

Newcastle have made an approach for striker, representative confirms

    http://www.nufcfans.co.uk/2015/01/newcastle-made-approach-striker-representative-confirms/?

This is exactly what I expected, A player we never intend to sign, will not meet his wage demands, and will not pay over the odds for. But now the club can say, we tried to bring in a striker.

on the fans vs carver debate !

theres reasons on both sides the fans needed to voice there anger at pards but unfortunatly got too angry in doing so and there was swearing ect from the fans also so we have no right to take the moral ground here tbh ! but in angry times we did what we thought was best at the time with our emotions flowing.

carver could see it was getting to the players which in fairness wasnt aimed at them and carver himself with him being “one of us” an all lost it just like we all did tbh.

so who’s right and who’s wrong ? imo we was all wrong fans and carver but if we are being picky carver more so as he’s paid to do a job and we was paying to be entertained.

i’m no saint myself though so i’m not gonna pretend i am just cos someone threatened me ! angry words spoken at angry times ! i’m guilty of doing it myself so its easy for me to forgive.

Let AP reimburse Swansea the signing on fee for Gomis, with Perez and Cabella we need another quick forward that can control the ball. A sharp eye for a goal, with the confidence to try a shot and good strong ability is what we need.

I’d love the new manager to be a local lad, same as I would with the players.

However that is a bonus, not essential criteria. He needs to be a good manager, respected in the game, with the ability to develop players and take the team forward.

So here’s a thing, If Penfold comes out at the end of the window and says something like we had our targets but January is a difficult month for transfers, we just couldn’t get them over the line.

We worked hard on several potential candidates for the position of head coach and after doing due diligence, and several of our targets ruling themselves out, we have decided that for the time being John Carve-up and the woodstones will remain in charge.

The surly that MD is not fit for purpose.

Due Diligence is the term the club use instead of “stalling”, I thought everyone knew that 😀

It should read, “We are STALLING on several candidates until we are to late to bring in any players”.

I honestly think the choice was made a while ago.

It would be great if there was some form of dissent tomorrow and there were several thousand missing, there’ll be a load handed out tonight to NHS etc, to make up the numbers though, a show of dissent might be contagious.
