While we don’t want to over-react to the poor display and poor result today against Southampton at home, we are on a very poor run and that is our seventh defeat in the last nine games and we have conceded 22 goals in the process.
We’ve taken only 4 points from the last 21 points available, and we have no head coach, and we’re in the bottom half of the table 4 points above Crystal Palace but with a worse goal difference. 🙁
These two need to get busy and do their jobs
So at best it’s a bad spell we are going through – again – and at worst it’s another slump in the new year as happened last year.
Newcastle are like a ship adrift in the ocean at the moment with no direction and it showed today, and it must be very difficult for the players in these times of uncertainty – they know they will be getting a new boss – but don’t know when and don’t know who it is.
Some leadership is needed from those at the top – namely Mike Ashley and Lee Charnley and they cannot stay silent and say nothing in the current situation.
We think the players have been put into a bad situation, and it’s the management of the club at the top where the problem lies.
Mike Ashley and Lee Charnley need to show some leadership – and start communicating with both the players and the fans.
It’s becoming obvious we need a new coach brought in and while we have every respect for John Carver – he’s a good assistant manager but not head coach material for Newcastle United.
And if Newcastle cannot appoint the coach they want in until the end of the season, it may be good to get somebody in over the rest of the season – like Tim Sherwood or Glenn Hoddle or some other experienced coach who can take over the reigns through the end of the season.
While we are still around 8 points above the drop zone – after what happened last season – we cannot be sure and we need to start picking up some points very soon.
Leaving the Newcastle ship adrift in the ocean any longer than one or two weeks could be suicidal, and some coach needs to be brought in.
It’s up to owner Mike Ashley and particularly Managing Director Lee Charnley – to start doing their jobs.

Yes the owner is an obstacle but a half decent manager would have us mid table at least. Pardew isn’t a half decent manager and neither is carver.
I know this regime well mate…i got out 2 years ago and won’t go back until they go

Thank you soo much, but I’ve got to ask have the girls on here heard themselves!!!!!!!!!!!! since I posted, bitching on about Carver and who might be fit!!!!!!!! WTF, GIRLS the common enemy is MA.
Really,,,,,,,,,,, ask yourselves, HOW much time does MA spend reading this blog!!!!!!!!!!, my uneducated guess is ZERO, THE same as we’ll spend this month FFS.
Instead of debating who should be playing and who’s fit, would your time not be better spent organising a concerted effort in having a EMPTY STJ at the next home game?, that would send a real message to MA and Penfold, that you/we as lifelong fan’s of our beloved NUFC, WILL NOT put up with anymore of THEIR b@llshit, WE want investment in the squad and a top rate head coach / manager and WE want it now, NOT the 1st of Feb.
Ladies, please discuss, but don’t bitch about snapped finger nails!!!!!!!!!FFS

Comment #43The worrying thing is who is going to want to come in on the back of these results and work under Ashley’s regime. Anybody can see where we need to bring in improvements, surely even Ashley himself. He just won’t put up the cash to back up whoever it is. Until we have a new owner, things are only going one way – unless MA suddenly decides to show the ambition this club deserves by investing heavily in some much needed quality CB’s and ST

Comment #44The club is an utter disgrace. We have an owner who uses any excuse under the sun to save himself from bringing in new blood. We have a coach in Carver who couldn’t lead an under 10s team to a win and we have players who could give a sh1t whether we win, lose or draw. The club is rotten. Bringing a new coach in will make NO difference what so ever. The coach has no say in who comes in and an owner who only brings in players on the cheap to sell for MASSIVE profit. Nothing will improve until Mr Ashley sells the club. We are on an endless cycle of misery. I hate MA with a passion.

They were missing schenierderlin, Wanayama, Alderwierld, Mane, rodriguez and others.
Yes we have injuries but how many of our injured lot have me or you seen this season, Aarons has played 3 games at best, Abeid only a few so they can’t be used as excuses we were shite

Comment #46Ashley will feel like in previous years we have done enough in first half of season to stay.up so won’t spend on a new coach, won’t spend on strengthening the squad despite selling Sissoko & hope we finish 16th.
Let’s face it we could have had Alderwield & Bony this season if there was any ambition shown.
Perhaps the Dutch Celtic CB is worth a punt, he can score goals as well but may not be too good defensively. Can’t be worse than Willo or Saylor can he?

pardew himself has managed to see us finish mid table in two of his 3 whole seasons, he would more than likely have finished mid table this season too.
it’s top 6 that i expect a quality manager to achieve with the CURRENT team, NOT 10th place.
if we do still finish in 10th place with decent managers it proves this team was just a totally sh1t team to start with.
their is 3 managers who this year prove the correct support is a big part of what will happen, RODGERS, MARTINEZ and BIG FAT SAM.
of course koeman is able to do it by selling players but them types are few and far between, already we know FDB a simpular type of manager to koeman has refused to come.
bad to my point sam was sh1t here but at west ham he seems to have got himself the chance to qualify for europe!
rodgers and martinez were getting so much great stories last year but now they doing no better than pardew.
the fact i’m making is NO decent manager will be appointed.
if ashleys aim is to sell, then why the fcuk will he want to appoint someone who is great?
secondly what manager in the world can win games when the team has got NO goal scorer availible and CHAMPIONSHIP CBs?
why oh why

And give the job to carver we will be in a relegation battle simple as that
This just is not god enough for a club of our size

Why ?
Because we are SHIT!

Comment #52How come a club like Southamton can attract a world class coach like Koeman when they were nearly broke a few seasons ago. Can only surmise that they have a progressive board. They sold their so called top players to L’pool & Man U & bought wisely. The players they have bought have hit the ground running. Also have a fantastic Academy from which Walcott & Oxlade Chamberlain came through & had two starting today & a further 4 on the bench.
Are they a bigger club than us or just better organized, have an insight into good fooball & above all are ambitous & progressive. They knock NUFC into a cocked hat. Deservedly 3rd in the league – good luck to them. Very envious

Comment #56This Carver who said quote: I’m going to put out my strongest side at Liecester in FA Cup. What did he do – made 7 changes saying he had injury problems. All came back against Chelsea. He was told to do this by Ashley, that’s why he is no better than the previous Pinochio

I’d be interested to know how this boycott of the next home match would work.
Would all those planning to attend be contacted via this blog ? I don’t think so. There might be a few dozen subscribers – no more.
Were you thinking of a picket line outside the ground ?
These are not facetious questions. I’m genuinely interested to know.

Comment #61manx…Carver seems to want to distance himself from the “not so special one”, but his football about looks the same.
…Carver is probably a good man, but he is part of the problem and he seem to have the same defects when it comes to style and tactics.
…but not everything was bad (or maybe SOTON was just crap as well)
What do you think?

Comment #62I agree with Our Toon, Magpie6699 those two CBs were THEIR 2nd string behind Alderwield & Schniederlin & still snuffed out any “threat” we posed & Pelle is a total different player to Perez. Difference is world class manager who has got them organized compact & excellent with new Dutch lad on the break & Pelle to hold it up AND all those players to come back.
Ashley needs to try to mirror that but sadly won’t
Sad becuuse we are only about 3 players short as of now.

Comment #65jesper the problem with great football is that doesn’ t always win games.
last week at chelsea we played stuning football and lost, today we had far more chances than southampton and lost, the most important thing in a managers eyes is wins, decent football comes second.
if we had a team such as city, barcalona or mardrid we could play decent football as we’d have them quality players to get the goals but unfortunely we don’t.
take for example liverpool, had scored a total of 101 goals last season, something they’ll never do this season, they have the same manager but they don’t have a suaez and have been without sturridge. to make it even clearer, west ham have scored more goals than liverpool, so therefore it’s clear you need quality forwards as well if you are to get decent entertaining football, something we have not got

Comment #66jesper well it was the same old shocking defensive frailties and some good but not great attacking parts
but for me that says more about the squad that has been built on the cheap and places not bought at the right time
a top manager wouldn’t get much better out of this team i feel
a strong defence is paramount to every top team and we havent had 1 for decades

Comment #73All this boycott talk is all well and good but doesn’t help the team. Can the Head of the Supporters Club not demand dialogue with Cashley & the Board . I can’t beleive a man who has pumped so much money into our club remains so insular. I remember meeting him on the terraces at the Britannia Stadium in a cup match against Stoke when he first started and sat with the fans. We need to get back to these times, although I would fear for his safety. He would probably be safer sitting (sorry standing) with the opposition fans

Comment #75toonking…I’ll give you a quote from the great Jock Stein:
“it’s not just about winning, but in the manner of how you win”.
Football is about so much more than winning – it’s about the bigger picture and it’s about being entertained.
Don’t forget that just because you are a Geordie and Newcastle is something you have been brought up with. Don’t take it for granted and don’t take the enjoyment of it for granted.
manx…I think it will be easier to judge if we get the kind of manager we all want.

Comment #80Pardew’s left a massive tactical turd and Carver was part of it. Players won’t instantly be able to play well as a unit, it has to be developed and organised. What you are seeing is months/years of no cohesion. Carver was part of the problem, and he won’t be radically changing much.
Ashley is a joke.
Those players are better than they’ve been mismanaged to look, and it’s a shame.
