Our Man Of The Match Is A Big Surprise

One of the few positive things to come out of yesterday’s 2-1 defeat against a weakened Southampton side was the form of left Back Massadio Haidara, who come into the side  at left back, when Paul Dummett moved to the center of defense and Mike Williamson was benched.

massadio haidara saints

Massadio Haidara in action yesterday against Southampton

The 22 year-old Frenchman had a good game especially in the second half,  and made some good runs down the Newcastle left wing.

In fact after 61 minutes he made one such run and found Yoan Gouffran with an excellent  cross,  but Yoan fluffed the chance and within a minute Eljero Elia had scored his second goal to put Southampton 2-1 ahead and it was the first time the Saints had won at St. James’ Park.

Massadio is our Man of the Match with 37% of the vote, and he’s followed by Remy Cabella who had another good game for Newcastle, but is still to score his first goal for the club.

Remy has 20% of the vote and in third place is young Ayoze Perez, who had a great attempt on goal in the first half when his shot was only inches wide of a post.

There’s still time to vote if you haven’t yet done so.

Expat…I believe M’Biwa had played 17 games before his appearance yesterday – 20 games is believed to trigger the clause!

…looking at the voting from last night’s game it does look a bit random or some have just gone with their heart instead of their head.

But then again I wouldn’t know to to vote for beside Haidara…maybe Anita.

Hairdryer was poor first half decent second, seemed on edge early on, lad has ability though for sure.

Thought we played OK actually, two bad goals, terrible goalkeeping for the first, awful schoolboy defending for the second. Starting to think Collo is finished. Doesn’t defend with any purpose or intent at all, just good on the ball, might as well play Santon there, similar soft attitude to defending.

New name on Betfair Frederic Hantz, down to 12s from being nowhere, available, French, worked under a frugal regime, desperate for a job, keeps teams in the top division, perfect for our no ambition club…..

I went for Haidara, he’s starting to fill out now as well. I like Dummett but think he is better at centre back.

The more I think about a new manager, the more pointless it seems. Nobody good will come if he can’t make his signings. I always said, I bet we would have done better if Pardew had been able to have more of an influence on signings. Some of the players he was after years back are now top class prem players / internationals e.g. Clyne, Lularna, Bony.
We have got worse since Pardew’s exit. I didn’t mind Pardew at all, thought he did well with what he had.

I’ve always thought Anita was poor. He does pointless things, can’t tackle, to weak, no real pace, great at passing 5-15 yards, after that poor, can’t dribble, can’t head, can’t take set pieces.
Yes, other players were bad as well, but Anita is consistently bad. When I say bad, I man he doesn’t contribute much. Colback is the same type of player but is so much better.

Dummet has plenty of heart but I don’t think he has the ball skills to be a LB. Haidara creates a lot more down the left flank. I thought Anita played well against Chelsea, but he was quiet yesterday. I really think we need Abeid back. He links up well with Colback and we tend to be more attacking when he plays. Hopefully the break will give us a chance to get some of our injured guys back onto the park.

Nico…the point of voting is to look at games separately and cast a objective vote…

…it’s clear to everyone that doesn’t happen (whether on agree with you or not)
