One of our readers has pointed out that the French Football site Foot-7 is reporting today that the problem with Remi Garde joining Newcastle United as their new head coach, is that Remi wants to bring in his own coaching team.
Remi Garde – wants his own coaching staff at Newcastle
It’s been reported before that Remi would want to bring in his own coaches that he had when he was the head coach at Lyon for three years from 2011 – but it seems that Newcastle want to keep their current coaching staff of John Carver, Steve Stone and Andy Woodman in place.
This could well be a legitimate sticking point with the Garde appointment, and we had wondered whether Newcastle would want to keep John Carver and others at the club.
Certainly it would help in the transition over to Remi Garde as head coach having John and his team in place.
That would also explain why another rumor could be true – that Remi wants to start in the summer and not immediately.
Some of his former coaching staff are still at Lyon under new manager Hubert Fournier, and since Lyon are currently top of the French League, there’s just no way those coaches would be allowed to leave before the summer.
That could certainly be a good reason why Garde does not want to start at Newcastle until the summer.
While we don’t know if this report is accurate, it does seem to make sense, and maybe Newcastle should have thought more about this before they let Alan Pardew leave the club in early January?

Comment #162A carefully staged interview that suggests to me we aren’t going to find a coach, he wants someone to come on and trust them to do the right thing, games up Mikey, everyone in the footballing world knows you’re a cnut !

being scuppered by carver, stone and woodman in getting a new coach and his own staff is yet another almighty kick in the proverbials. it’s just never ending.
which self respecting credible coach would ever entertain having to take on the 3 stooges.

Comment #167Actually if Colo is going to be manager – staying apart from the team these few days makes perfect sense

Comment #168I know that being so small Penfold doesn’t get very far very quickly. But 4 weeks is BANANAS and still not able to make an appointment. I knew he would say we made to many purchases in the summer and could not afford/fit in any one now; BONKERS! Alan played a big part; that is a turn up for the books.

Comment #169A couple of comments off the chronicle website. Have a biscuit lol. The last comment got it spot on for me though.
“…the approach for Alan from Crystal Palace came as a surprise to us…. People have asked us whether – because of the way the second part of last season went and the way we started this season – we had a contingency plan in the background. We didn’t…… when we feel we have the right person in that position, indeed any position, our focus is on supporting them”
“I would re-iterate the quote I issued at the time of his departure in that we moved on significantly as a club during his four years, on and off the field, and Alan played a big part in that”
I don’t know about the rest of you, but I find the above genuinely terrifying.
Alan Pardew took over a mid-table PL club, and 4 years later he left a mid-table PL club.
Well done Alan, have a biscuit.

He’s got to say that.
He can hardly say “Pardew was rubbish, we couldn’t believe a club would come in for him, we completely mugged them”. Now could he?

I don’t expect him to slate Pardew, but he could quite easily say nothing. Even if asked directly, he could politely say “We thank Alan for his time but we’re looking forward now to a new era and don’t want to discuss the past”. East.
It’s very worrying that he’s chosen instead to make such an effort to praise Pardew when he could easily have not done so. That, to me, says that either this regime is so fundamentally lacking in ambition that they were genuinely pleased that Pardew met their horrifically low expectations and therefore didn’t care about the bad he brought, or else they know so little about football that they actually think he was a good manager.
Either option is equally worrying.

Comment #171Sooooo the roster is still full eh? Making up the numbers with the likes of guti and chucky knowing full well they wouldn’t play. Oh and benny’s gone (was he on the list?) Marvellous.
Can’t the squad list be re-submitted to the F.A in January? I’m sure it can because of clubs signing new players. Can you omit a previous occupant from the original list because of injuries like staylor for instance?

What is the fat controller getting out of having full control of rangers
In all honesty the only thing I can think of is he hopes to own ibrox and Murray park. Then hopes rangers goes t#ts up and he can sell them off for a profit.
Why would he sell nufc to own rangers

Comment #174Given the shambles surely everyone sees by now, I reckon it is more evident than ever that taking over 4 years ago at 11th and leaving now with the club still in …11th is looking like one hell of an achievement.
Chinless Charnley is one yes man too many. I hope ‘Must be able to cope with season(s) in the Championship’ is part of the job description,. because if we wait until summer, that’s where we’ll be and with a thoroughly demoralised squad. And does our 25 include the 2 Nottingham Forest lads? Clearly, those two were down to a stroke of Carr’s genius and not ;looking like such good business now.
