Newcastle Will Not Be Signing This 31 Year-Old In January

We’ve seen the reports in Denmark that Newcastle United are interested in signing Michael Krohn-Dehli of Celta Vigo, whose contract will run out in the summer, and at that time he will  become a free agent.

Danish newspaper BT are reporting that Newcastle are ready to offer Krohn-Dehli the highest wages of any other interested club to join them – but in five words – we do not believe it.

If Newcastle were to bring in a player who turns 32 in June, it would mean Mike Ashley is willing to pay big wages to players who are way past their best, and their worth will decline while at Newcastle.

That’s the opposite of the way the Newcastle owner has operated at Newcastle over the last almost eight years, and we heard from Lee Charnley last night that Newcastle’s way of operating will not change one iota when a new head coach comes in – probably in the summer.

La Liga side Villarreal are currently the favourites to land the player, with Sevilla are also showing some interest in him – so the 47 times capped Danish International will probably stay in Spain.

There are lots of stories about Newcastle buying players in these transfer windows that just make no sense.

This is one of them.

I find it very sad that people are impressed with the honesty of that staged interview that outlines that nothing will change and that there is no plans for success other than profit margin. Another good but depressingly frank article on Nufc.com about it all.

He won’t be coming to Newcastle, along with no other player. We’re a business not a football club.

re post….toon kk ……..my understanding is we have less then 35000 season tickets this season and that should fall next season the walk ups on match account for 13ooo with very cheap tickets the other 4000 are away fans the income on the gate is going down year on year the sky money is what keeps this club going

Jail, i to think the statement by LC was just a smokescreen, it has took him 21 days to come out with this, and as he mentioned the probably no signings in this window, it looks very much like we have been duped, i hate all this cloak and dagger stuff that goes on, they could have made this statement from the get go.

The season for me will be the good the bad and the ugly so ups and downs until the end of the season and imo we will be safe but its hardly anything to look forward to, ive mentioned many times we are financially secure as a club, which suites MA of course but we are probably the most frustrating club on the planet on and off the pitch. we simply do not deserve the HORSESHIT.
