We don’t think we will get many – if any – players through the door in this January transfer window – but if we do get players in – they are likely to be good up and coming young players , who can improve on Tyneside.
Dele Alli – 18 year-old MK Dons midfielder
And there is a report in Goal today that Newcastle are trying to bring MK Dons central midfielder Dele Alli into the club this month, and we have been linked with the youngster for about a year now.
The 18 year-old 6’2″ tall player looks like a great player in the making, so if Newcastle can get him to Newcastle, either this month or in the summer, it would be a coup for the club.
Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Manchester United are just three of some top clubs who are said to be after the youngster, and Dele has scored 10 goals in 28 appearances this season, and he was a star man in the MK Dons 4-0 humiliation of Manchester United in the Capital One Cup back in August.
The attacking midfielder has played a total of 71 times for his club with 18 goals, and there was news in early December that Newcastle United had beaten off other top clubs, and were expected to win the race to sign the youngster.
Alli looks set to leave the MK Dons, who are pushing for promotion from League One and are currently in 3rd position on 48 points from 24 games, and they are 6 points behind second top Bristol City and an automatic promotion spot.
But we would be very surprised if his club are willing to let their young star player leave this month, so Newcastle may have to wait until the summer.
Dele has played for England at the U17, U18 and U19 levels – and recently got a call-up for the England U21 side – and he is regarded as one of the best young talents in England and made his debut for MK Dons as a 16 year-old.
Alli seems to be one of a number of young English players Newcastle have been linked with over the last twelve months.
He would be a great signing for Newcastle if we can get him to Tyneside.

Comment #44Strangely enough statistically CMF`s are the most susceptible to yellow cards so you probably need more to cover for suspensions

Agree with letting Bigi have another shot as definitely saw potential from him as also in Abeid, Armstrong, Aarons,Good etc.
However losing Vukic, Ferguson, Williamson, Farreya & others could also go but it’s far easier said than done to move these players on.
Tiote could go for me too, not the player he once was & hopefully with with a continental head coach at the helm like De Boer not sure he would be missed if the plan is to play the European way with centre backs starting the attacks & players like Anita if used correctly would link defence to attack as he used to at Ajax.
This would need new Cb’s to implement though as are current ones can’t pass!!!!!!

Comment #50There is no need to pay off the coaches, just tell them not to turn up and pay them their regular wages for the next 5 years, or until they get a new full time job.

I assume you mean Carroll, Ba and Cabaye? Or do you mean more of the same in the future? You are right there is a possibility it could happen.

Comment #52We’re stuck with the likes of Wiliamson and our below average players simply because they haven’t enough sell on value and Mash wouldn’t want to spend to replace.

Comment #53The Toon hierarchy really have not got this communication thing worked out yet.
They begrudgingly set up the Fans Forum UEFA rule) however the forum members can only be contacted via a third party -the Fans Liason Officer -so he gets all their emails first. Not very modern or transparent means of operating.
Now shock and horror -Charnleys statement -appears not to have gone down too well with the majority -so as a PR exercise -they probably cocked it up again.

Comment #54The biggest factor that makes Newcastle United special, are the fans.

An exceptional USP that any worthy businessman would be able to harness and make the club progress.

Comment #55The Fans Forum Members should have an open pre-meeting in order to confirm an agenda between themselves. Exploit the opportunity to show that the club are only interested in using it for its own purposes.

Comment #58Does anyone else think his interview was actually at least trying to be honest with the fans although vague. I mean had pards been here we’d have already heard how we were planning on bringing in 5 players until ST deadline passed, yet he’s told us straight, unless we sell no one will come in. He’ll be on the dole next week if them half season tickets don’t go.

It was a very well written statement trying to say all the right things but maybe trying a bit too hard.
It was apparently given to the Chronicle in a 2 hour interview over coffee, it’s hardly Keegan coming out onto the steps to address the fans after selling Andy Cole.
If they were to answer clearly the real questions the fans have in an open forum allowing themselves to be more transparent then if honest or not we would at least give them a bit more respect for attending & involving us as fans.

Comment #65Not sure if i mentioned this before but i think Jonjo Shelvey would be a great signing for us. Still at a decent young age, i think he’s a good deep lying playmaker (english as well) possesses great ball control and passing, would be good for us i reckon.
Hopeful january window:
OUT:
Tiote
Cisse
IN:
Shawcross
Shelvey
Ings

Comment #68jesper – indeed basically all second rate types with no dynamism.
Lacking sadly is that Keegan type enthusiasm and optomism to inspire others.
We seem to be content with second rate mugs.

Comment #69Are we seriously not going to sign a centre back ? Even on loan ?
You just know Colo and Willo will get injured soon in saying that it might not be a bad option to have Dummett and say Streete or Good play a few games considering everyone else has been gash for a while now

Comment #70No way Ings leaves Burnley in jan! If they stay up its worth 80m. Hes their best chance of that and even with 10/15m he might sell for its doubtful a top replacement would be interested in signing for Burnley.

Comment #72I do think despite what Charnley says we’ll bring in 1 or 2 players in Jan. Even if its a loan. We actively persued a centreback before Taylors injury so its inconceivable we won’t persue one now hes out for the season.
Think they’ll try and get by without a striker tho till the summer when they’ll bring in Ings and Wickham on frees and sell Cisse.

Comment #73Damma99 – One thing I don’t think you can accuse NUFC of is being boring! What other club would sell its best players without replacing them, flirt with relegation almost every season, have wild runs of wins followed by catastrophic slumps, and then have its manager suspended for a headbutt? Frustrating – yes, underwhelming – yes. But boring – NEVER!
