MK Dons Manager – Newcastle Signing Dele Alli Not Paper Talk

Newcastle have been interested in 18 year-old English central midfielder Deli Alli for about a year now,  and about two months ago there was news that Newcastle would in fact win the race to sign the MK Dons youngster.

We had an article out yesterday about Alli and there’s been some confirmation from the MK Dons manager Karl Robinson today that Newcastle’s interest is not just paper talk.

Karl was talking to BBC Three Counties Radio about his 18 year-old wonder-kid and this is what he said:

“Obviously there’s been a lot of talk about Dele Alli and Newcastle United.” “I don’t think it is just paper talk – I think it is a bit more than that, but it is nothing we have heard about yet.”

“I think Dele conducts himself wonderfully well and if his mentality was weak the speculation would worry me, but he’s a very strong character.” “He will go down as one of the greatest players we’ve had.”

That sounds a bit odd because if Robinson thinks it’s not paper talk, you would have thought that at least Newcastle would have contacted the manager – but maybe not – maybe Newcastle have contacted MK Dons officials higher up the chain.

The news  in the last few days is that Newcastle were trying to sign Dele in the January transfer window, but with MK Dons third top of League One, we’d be surprised if they would let him leave this month – but it could happen.

We watched this lad play against Manchester United in the League Cup in August, and he had a very good game, so his potential is enormous,  and in total he’s played 71 times with 18 goals for MK Dons since making his debut as a 16 year-old – and he’s just the kind of young player Newcastle should be signing.

But we can see MK Dons letting their star youngster leave if Newcastle come up with a good enough offer for him,  but a fee of £9M is way off the mark.

Mike Ashley would only pay that amount for an established player, but MK Dons could negotiate a fee that has various add-ons, and it could be a huge win-win for both clubs if Dele Alli became a big star at Newcastle – or more likely – we sell him for huge bucks to a bigger club.

For example MK Dons can negotiate a sell-on percentage for Alli – maybe as much as 25%.

Dele has played for England at the U17, U18 and U19 levels – and has had a call-up for the England U21 side.

The Milton Keynes born youngster is thought of as one of the best young talents in England, and we are hoping Newcastle can sign this lad – it would be a coup for Newcastle United – that’s for sure.

It’s only common sense that we will make no transfers this window considering we have no head coach now and probably have to wait till end of the season to bring one in, so it only makes sense if we did purchase young talent now we would send them back on loan till end of season.

    1 GK
    1 CB
out on loan from immediate purchase

now bring Dele in and a young striker and a winger and then send them back on loan until end of season – job done 🙂

Dele won’t be valued at 9 million especially from a league one side like MK Dons, most he will be will probably be at least 2-3 million max

I think young Hughes was valued around 7-9 million so no chance Dele will be that much

@black and white: He’s already signed, mate! Just waiting on the official word from the club. I’m sure Shola will “boost their attacking options” no end.
