Newcastle Make Bid For Striker – Two Other PL Clubs Interested

Dame N’Doye has played in both of Senegal’s two games at the African Cup of Nations – a 2-1 win against Ghana and a 1-1 draw yesterday with South Africa, and Newcastle striker Papiss Cisse has not played in either of those group  games.

Dame N’Doye – 29 year-old Senegal striker

Senegal top their group with 4 points and are likely to qualify for the knockout rounds, with their final game in Group C being a tough one against Algeria on Tuesday.

And the news in Senegal is that Newcastle United have bid around £3M for Dame N’Doye – who plays for Lokomotiv Moscow and will become a free agent in the summer, when his contract runs out.

The 6′ tall striker has been at Moscow since the summer of 2012, when he joined from Copenhagen, and in 67 appearances he’s scored 27 goals in Russia.

And while in Denmark for four years he scored 93 goals in 154 appearances, and he made his debut for Senegal  four years ago against Guinea, and has scored 8 International goals in 24 appearances for his country.

But he also turns 30 next month, so we’d be very surprised if this news has much truth to it, since Mike Ashley doesn’t like to sign players past their best.

And would you believe two of the three bottom clubs in the Premier League – Hull and Leicester City – are the other two clubs trying to make a cut price deal to get the striker in this month.

So that gives you some measure of the ambitions of Newcastle these days.

Maybe Newcastle are looking for a striker to replace Papiss Cisse, who may still leave this January, but that would be very dangerous for Newcastle.

We already have to rely on caretaker manager John Carver for the last 16 games of the season, and to let our top striker leave would be extremely risky.

But you never know with Newcastle.

Looking at our archives, Newcastle were first interested in this striker in the summer of 2012 – and he was 27 years old at that time.

On the positive side, this player can certainly score the goals, but if he is signed it would signal a change in transfer policy by Newcastle.

One last note – if you believe Wikipedia he’s already a Hull City player.

‘I think we may end up with Garde or FDB.’
That has to be one of the most unintentionally optimistic statements seen on here for a very long time.

Mag52 – Ya I think so too. Both Fdb and Garde were untested in other leagues. we don’t know what difference they will make but the positive thing to notice on them is that they both have an eye for good player signings.who ‘d u prefer to be our permanent head coach?

No game today, due to lack of interest… while many normal fans will be soaking up the romance of the cup. I’m off to see Consett v Penrith then.

I’d snap up either of them, Garde or FDB.
Problem always will be, would either of them really come to work with NUFC, knowing what pretty well everyone in football knows about the way things are run here, the lack of ambition being the killer for most decent managers.
