Newcastle Could Miss Out On Danny Ings

There is news in the Mail today that Tottenham Hotspur are considering making a £5M bid for 22 year-old Burnley striker Danny Ings in the coming week.

danny ings

Danny Ings – 22 year-old Burnley striker

Ings has been followed by Newcastle since he was at Bournemouth way back in 2009, and his contract is set to run out in the summer, although Burnley are doing their best to get him to pen a new deal before then.

Danny has had a good season at the Turf Moor club, and he has proven he can score goals in the Premier League with 7 goals in 19 Premier League appearances so far this season.

Mauricio Pochettino is said to be keen on the England U21 striker, and a bid of £5M may be enough to convince Burnley to sell – since Danny will become a free agent in the summer.

However, because he is still under 24, Burnley will be due a compensation fee for the youngster.

And if they keep him through the end of the season and his goals manage to keep Burnley up, it will have been a good deal for Burnley.

That’s because of all the money PL clubs get these days every May from the world’s most popular sports league.

So we’d be surprised if Burnley accept the bid – but there’s no way Newcastle would bid that much for a player who becomes a free agent this summer – even though Danny could become a great signing for us.

Newcastle don’t have the ambition that Tottenham Hotspur still have to become a top four club in England.

What do you think?

No surprise there then. How long have we supposedly looking at Ings?

Why do they spend so much time pi$$ing about instead of snapping these guys up?

Ah but Pyongyang United doesn’t do things simply does it!

Ings will be at Burnley till the summer. If he keeps Burnley up he is worth far more than a paltry £5million to them. Plus if he does, and is out of contract in the summer he will be able to command far more in wages and a signing on fee from whoever approaches him.

He’s also got 3 assists and 4 of those appearances were as a sub. Not bad.

Like Lil mentioned though, burnley stand to lose more if they sell him now rather than lose him for free in the summer. I’d love him here but it ain’t gonna happen. Same goes for Austin too.

Lilongwe Geordie, how you doing out there? All well I trust?

If Ings’ (as with all potential signings, if any) wages could be an issue, then forget ’em.

Our great leader, Comrade Ashleyski seems determined to lead Pyongyang United through an age of endless austerity.

Could we be looking forward to a Tyneside version of the Arab Spring or more likely, a Tiananmen Square type event?

Toon + baloteli? It surely doesn’t mean we’re being linked does it? Could just mean they are going to discuss us then him but all the rest of topics are listed separate. Even being linked with him is sickening. He’s shite lol.

    Lesh,
All is good where I am, but Malawi has had serious flooding issues over the past few weeks with over 200,000 people losing their homes and crops. Going to be a tough year out here for a lot of people unfortunately.

I’d say more likely is that we see nothing at all. Too many divisions, ego’s and a lack of anyone with the intelligence, wit and charisma prepared to step up and galvanise the populace into doing anything.

They won’t sell him this window unless silly money comes in. Although his contract is up this summer, the fee will go to a tribunal which is reprted would be about 4m.
Why sell him for 5m now?
I think they’d only sell for 10m+ this window.

    Lilongwe.

You missed the point in my previous post about Sanogo, the point being that in our dysfunctional club it has taken over a year to get a CF, whereas at Palace they have got hold of a pretty good one on loan within a month.
As far as AP is concerned, I reserve the right to mention any manager of any club in my blogs, including Alan Pardew if appropriate.

    MAg52,
Sanogo is far from proven as a pretty good striker at the moment. Yung raw and has potential. So Palace have managed to get a player on loan who is of a similar level to Perez in the summer, in terms of experience and record. Hardly a massive step forward. I remember we were linked with Sanogo at one point and there was virtually nobody who wanted him here.

As for AP, feel free to mention him, as I said your fascination with justifying your stance seems to be more important than matters at NUFC.

I do wonder at times who decide at our club that we need a player – I mean neither the Fat one or Penfold have football credentials!

…imagine the Fat one being head chef at a restaurant and Penfold doing the shopping!

    Lil,
I think when you compare the latest ‘interview’ with others they have set out this time to say absolutely nothing that is accountable as I said the other day. This in their mindset is giving the perfect statement, one in which for the first time they can’t be accused of lying. I’d like to say it back fired spectacularly but some people took positives from it, even your initial post before you explained your thoughts seemed as though you thought it a good interview.

we all despise ashley for a number of reasons but did he force pardew to play mindnumbing ultra negative, defensive containing football for 4 years.

ironically ap did finally hit on the idea of using pace but brought back aarons too early and god knows what he was doing in training sessions to have so many injured players to implement the pace needed.

    Lesh @ 7 ,
Great post love the Pyongyang United one.PMSL
and i did conjure up an image of our glorious leader ordering Tanks into Eldon square and C.N.N covering the moment some little charva stands alone facing some soviet built rolling hardware armed with nothing more than his sports direct carrier bag and a badly spelt bed sheet.
wonted be long before the chronicle toes the line to avoid another ban and reports our great leader Ashlinsky yesterday scored 18 holes in one single round.
Have to say its getting tiresome saying we are tracking this guy and that guy and we have tracked this one since 2009 yet we are never even close to actually signing them .
I mean we must have tracked P.E.A (remember him?)for 3 years
I expect to see more of this as bishop and co start more spin.

I was out with my mate on Friday, he has season tickets for him and his daughter, he’s hoping something will change and doesn’t want to give them up, there are thousands like him. Mashley couldn’t have chose a better club to do this to as far as stretching peoples loyalty goes.

i know pards has won 4/4 since he returned to palace, but the fact that they have never been in the lead untill the winning goal tells me pards has got his 4 wins now , now comes the losses . his tactics havnt changed , its odd that the opposition seek the first goal while he is quite happy to contain instead of seeking the initiative.
It will end in tears .

Must say I tend to be doubtful about Charnley’s statement.

Can anyone identify anything he’s said that’s measurable?

By that, I mean I can’t see any statement of intent (a mission-type statement) stated aims or objectives nor can I see anything that’s unambiguous.

You would love to strengthen the squad and say there should be money in the bank. I think you must have misunderstood Penfolds recent speech. It isn’t the clubs money and the club doesn’t belong to the fans. The club and the profits belong to Mikey. We might own the debt, not crystal clear on that one.

    lesh,
As I said absolutely nothing that can be used against them in the future. I just can’t fathom how people have taken positives from a statement that tells us nothing is going to change whatsoever, no mention of aiming for top six, cups no mention of goals at all. Surely now this talk of us having no right to call our selves a top six can be put to bed now that this rich list has been published.
