Huge Majority Of Fans Don’t Want John Carver Either Way

88% of our readers don’t want to see John Carver appointed as the permanent head coach, with over 9,500 fans voting, and John doesn’t get much better results about being head coach through the end of the season.

The Newcastle caretaker head coach, John Carver, applauds the away fans

John Carver – fans don’t want him as head coach – either way

To be fair to Newcastle, we are assuming this appointment is only through the end of the season, and that will enable the club to appoint a top coach at the end of the season, when a lot more coaches of quality will be available.

And we are also assuming that Lee Charnley will have done his homework and already have a coach lined up in case John cannot get the results for Newcastle and we drift too close to the relegation zone – it’s called planning for things that may happen in the future – in other works – planning 101.

Here are the two polls we put out on John – the first one was put out January 2nd.

Should John Carver Be The Head Coach At Newcastle?

Loading ... Loading ...

And here is the poll we put out on 13th January – unlucky for some – asking whether you wanted John as the caretaker manager through the end of the season.

Do You Want John Carver To Take Over Newcastle Through End Of The Season?

Loading ... Loading ...

There still to vote in both polls if you haven’t already done so – one vote per reader.

Since John has the job through the end of the season (assuming we don’t get into any trouble with relegation), we hope Newcastle fans will support him as the head coach.

Things are not good at the moment at Newcastle, we know that, but we just have to hope we’ll make a stellar appointment in the summer.

And a win at Hull on Saturday would certainly help.

Somebody just tweeted this which sums it up “The 13th largest club in Europe by attendance and 19th by revenue managed by John Carver. Read that back to yourself. Then open the whiskey”

Santon – the cheap stuff. It will cost you a fortune to drown that out with a decent single malt.

Ed, you really need to change these yes/no polls and add an additional option or 2.

    The obvious one here is…

It depends on who we appoint in the summer…

Funny buy there’s a distinct vibe that jc isn’t regarded as the man for the future. I just sense it. it’s a gift I have.

I suspect the minority of people who said yes, did so because they anticipate that this facilitates someone they would prefer to wait for like De Boer or Gaulthier.

Who do you think they are going to appoint in the summer? Are you really optimistic that a big name is coming in?

Everyone I know thinks Carver is the only option if the clubs target (because of contractual obligations ) has to wait until Summer-Bruce Galtier Franky the Farmer McClaren etc etc – lot of girly hysteria if you ask me

Carver till the summer? Kind of damned if we do, damned if we don’t…. I suspect if we stay up he’ll get a 12-18 month contract and if we go down we’ll never attract the quality of manager we could in the PL!

    OT – hmm

    I have no idea.

The message from the club is clearly that they are waiting for the right guy which does fit in with some of the most interesting and plausible candidates (not De Boer, but some of the others mooted).

That said, I do think you have to be skeptical as far the regime is concerned – not necessarily filled with suspicious hatred but, certainly a degree of skepticism with a dash of cynicism.

That said id take Carver over Pardew! Carver looks like he sets up to have a go (albeit a bit niaively) and hes honest in defeat. Personally think despite his palace form under pardew we would have still lost to leicester, southampton and chelsea and probably would have got a kick in playing containment against southampton and chelsea!
Also couldn’t bear any more of his smug interviews or excuses

My opinion is that we thought we could get Pulis or Sherwood through the door but once they said no we decided to leave the vacancy with Carver. Nothing about this regime screams FDB, or Garde!! We’ve been down this type of road so many times!!

At least We know the crack now as do the players and staff. We could be sold in the summer and this is the best platform for a takeover, or they could just know who they want but not be able to get them till the summer, or they could want to give carver a shot. Shepherd said He would give Him a shot, so why not? Get behind the lads and see how we go. Honest? I’m expecting a signing or two late in this window, cos now that there’s clarity it gives Carved a voice

A protest against the regime or fans discontent doesn’t mean they aren’t supporting the team, it means they actually give a $hit about what is happening.

I actually think Carver gets how a newcastle team should set up and play: he needs a centre forward and centreback to have a chance but he seems much more tactically adventurous than pardew. Might mean some high scoring entertainment….
I also fancy a derby win, wouldn’t fancy being a player with JC as manager if we lose again to sunderland.
I’ll back the guy for 16 games. If he earns a fulltime shot coz we’re winning lots playing swashbuckling footie then all good and well. Be livid if he stinks up tge place and still gets it tho

Tbo the board are totally lost, they’re trying to run a football club and don’t really have a clue what the hell they’re doing. All they see is the with profits side of the business and the best possible way to save and make the most amount of money.
MA relied upon P45 to explain every dumb decision and make out MA was making the correct decisions.
Finding a Clone of P45 might be harder than they think.

Sets uip to have a go…

Then we’ll ship goals. Under AP we were heading for low 50’s, maybe mid. Under JC, low 40’s? Take risks, and that could become borderline relegation. Looking down the fixtures, Spurs, Swansea and West Ham are potential banana skins. We may bring no points home from Merseyside. Be very afraid…

Palace’s record under Pardew- played four, won four, just beaten Southampton away in the FA Cup.

Newcastle’s record under Carver- played four, won none, drawn
one, lost to Southampton at home in the League.

I wonder if all those fans calling for Pardew to be sacked have
any regrets that he chose to leave. After the second half of last
season many fans gave up on Pardew. Was it Pardew or was
Ashley the one to have been blamed. Who, knows.

We should finish the league at Christmas in the North East.
At least we made some money last season and are back in
the Deloitte money top league- something to brag about –
    that’s what really matters right?

That said, I am really shocked that that Ashley didn’t leave
Carver’s inevitable appointment until after the season ticket
    cancelation deadline on Saturday.
    deadline on Saturday –

I don’t want JC as manager anymore than the next fan, but ive seen enough to suggest it at least be better than watching Pardews nufc.

Pardews record whilst being toon manager against Southampton over 12 months. at Saint Marys played 2 won 0 scored 0 conceded 8.

It’s the honeymoon period mate like all managers have when they first take over a club. Carver isn’t even a manager, let’s see how well palace do when pardew buts his stamp on them

Why are people suggesting that some of us are regretting Pardew leaving, what ever happens good or bad at least something will have happened, were people really satisfied to see us stumble from half season to half season throwing cups and having a smarmy apologist tell us everything was great and hey, sorry we can’t compete with Swansea and Soton, at least now the media have picked up on it and another long term appointment in the mould of Pardew won’t be afforded anywhere near the amount of time he was. A lot of people still thought Mashley had something up his sleeve when Pardew was appointed, Jam tomorrow they’re calling it now, but the difference is now and then is Mashley has been well and truly sussed, bring it on !!

Carver has been at the club for many years he’s not in the honeymoon period, the players know him they have worked with him for many years.

Pardew is at a new club, players are playing to impress the manager, they are happy to play anywhere or any role.

I sincerely hope you can make the distinction of what is what when it comes to both scenarios.

We will pick up with some players back fit. I always think we look much stronger with Aarons playing.

You know what, iv followed this club for 45 years now, I can honestly say for the first time in those years i hope we never win another game this season, that is seriously the only way we can move on from this never ending nightmare, with this horibble fat piece of s%#t who owns this club, if carver dose well, no sorry if he just keeps nufc up, he will get the job permenantly, the man is that desperate and self absorbed that he will lick the fat mans ass every night to stay in the job,,,, this my friend is what the club has come to, its criminal and disgusting the greed and the sheer arrogance of Ashley, please please stop giving this man your money and lets get this c¥nt out of our club! We must get relegated, we can make this happen, with all these pemadona egotistic so called footballers using us as a stepping stone, get on their backs and they will jump ship immediately, the club is rotton to the core.
