Here are the results of the poll so far – and not too many readers have voted yet – and it’s still open – one vote per reader.

We held the poll when there was news yesterday that Steve McClaren was reported to be Newcastle’s first choice for the job in the summer, and would likely take the job unless Derby County are promoted to the Premier League.

In a similar poll for John Carver – the results are almost identical.

Are there any other English coaches that may be appointed as the new Newcastle head coach?

We need to get a top continental coach in – like Frank de Boer, Remi Garde or Thomas Tuchel – that’s what Newcastle really need.

Our Newcastle manager in the summer will be Steve Bruce

Out of contract , a geordie and would give his left nut for the job

Not my choice but I think it will be Ashleys

    Mclaren a poor 2nd choice

Why don’t you just leave the blog mate, if your here to chastise fellow fans and mock those who wanted pardew out then do the majority of us a favour and go and support Swansea!!

I don’t see why you’d find it humerus and now see why MR T has that troll image for you….I’m happy pardew has gone he was one of many issues at the club, next it’s time to get MA out.

Just for the record…I completely understand Ashley is the problem…and whoever he picks as our next manager all I want is football that doesn’t send me to sleep which is why I harranged the last manager as much as I did….he served up sh!te week after week after week and it was depressing.

A sh1t owner doesn’t always mean a sh!t manager…all I want is a manager who will get the team to play good football just to p!ss off the owner….not a lot ask if you ask me!

…and on the basis I don’t think it’s fair to harrang Carver just yet…all I was saying was it might be a convenient time to give Ashley a hard time whenever the mood takes me.

Just to set the record straight….hate the thought of you thinking I wasn’t right behind ya! 🙂

Jail, it is mate (all quiet). I know “people” who’d been in touch with the sackpardew lot and they said they would turn their attention to Ashley once Pardew had gone! You’re right though, they’ve gone very quiet.
I could never back them fully as like you, knew he wasn’t the real problem at NUFC but I did see it as a pain in the ass for Ashley. Unfortunately he’s just riding roughshod over it and everyone yet again.

and I wasn’t mocking the fans either, I don’t like pardew but if you going to try and get somebody out of a club you better hope that the club gets somebody in that’s much better and all they have done is getting carver to manage until the end of the season which for me spells trouble and it feels like we are going backwards instead of forwards.

So MASH creates a new company and shifts 10 million in cash into Rangers. I’d like to know where that 10 came from, if his interest in Newcastle and Rangers are under the same umbrella company. Are they?

Watching videos of that Deli Alli he looks a really good prospect actually looks like a version of Sissoko who can actually finish hope we do get him

If we do sign Alli , the forest boys and the 2 spanish youngsters we are supposed to be signing that would be 5 players already for next season …. all without premiership experience

So, voting no for Mclaren means Kim Jung Charnley’ll do his msster’s bidding and recruit him.

    Vote yes, and he’ll not.

    Simples.

Depends on the manager I suppose Perez has taken to the premiership no bother and if we played a bit more offensively he would score a fair whack of goals

Who knows some of these boys could flop some could be ready but I think with a good manager who could develop youngsters some of these could be great

Just a shame we wont get a manager that can develop them so pointless really !!!

It may appear that that is what’s happening but I would be very surprised if MA reads this or any other blog. Interesting theory and it would be nice to think we had the ability to manipulate the man but the reality is we don’t.
Not sure I want the SackPardew bunch back. Props to them for actively doing something but on the world stage without the back story they really just made us all look like a bunch of tossers.

Its absolutely shocking to me how dumb fans can be
We have seen “Continental” coaches like Santini, Villas Boas, Magath, Juande Ramos arrive in the Premier league with big reputations only to CRASH AND BURN

Pure unadulterated stupidity callling for a clown like Garde and a neophyte like Frank De Boer, when we can go after a seasoned performer like McClaren

    Aye, a far simpler summary.

This one’s interesting too and it refers to his contempt for NUFC fans.

    Canny,

There is a need for action from the NUFC support – as you say, not the PardewOut type bed-sheet protests but what would unseat him? God only knows.

Let’s hope the NUST begins dialogue with the Rangers fan groups. ‘Twa heeds are better than wan’ as they would say north of the border!

What makes you think relegation is the answer? We’ve been down that road before, all relegation will do is ensure MA spends more money to get us back up and the debt to him rises again. No way he sells the club at a cut price especially if we are down in championship, it’ll go 1 of 2 ways

    1) He spends another 60m like the last relegation and we come back up with the debt rising to 189m

    2) he asset strips the club selling most young and senior players of value and then jumps ship, meaning we end up like Blackpool who are struggling for players, or end up doing a wolves an getting double relegation.

“The simple fact of the matter is that our support lacks the gumption to get away from keyboards and to organise something that those who demand action say they want. They want somebody else to do it. I’ve read all kinds of ideas but little in the way of a plan to make any of them happen. Even when stuff is organised, far from mass numbers join with it. Marches are counted in their hundreds rather than in their thousands. Attendance at meetings, regardless of who is organising them is pitiful, embarrassing, no matter what day or time they are set up.”

    http://www.true-faith.co.uk/thru-black-white-eyes-deadline-day-25jan15/

“There is also an element of our support which is all too keen to put the knife into the backs of those who do want to do something, who cut no-one any slack and appear far more keen to turn their energies on fellow supporters rather than the real enemy. We’ve all winced at bad spellings on banners but those who have had visible protests have been nailed as the “bed-sheet brigade” and small numbers staging protests sneered at for their inability to draw bigger numbers. Someone doesn’t understand irony. I’ve even read the dress-sense of some marchers criticised as though to be active you have to be some uber-cool, clued-up terrace mannequin. It’s utterly depressing. I’ve no time for Wonga on our shirts but I’m not going to nit-pick a fellow supporter who is doing something positive if they are wearing one. We all have different levels of consciousness but I’ve also read sneers at those supporters from people who feel entitled to judge others before they have done a tap. We have a lot of people standing on the pavement when the march goes by, who should get over themselves and get on the back.”

    McClaren win %

    Boro 38
    England 50
    Twente 63
    Wolfsburg 29
    Forrest 23
    Twente 48
    Derby 60

Can only really say that he has a done well with twente in the Dutch league and Derby in championship. He did ok with boro in contest too but 50% with england is poor.

He’s hardly nailed on to succeed, very 50/50

    Win % doesn’t mean anything

It’s more to do with what should be achieved with that team, also you should consider draws, loses, league position (as if a win % of 50 gets you 4th one year it’s not that impressive the best season if it only gets you 7th).

What has he done to develop players. Would he suit the clubs structure and style. Would he football be good to watch, etc

Not saying mclaren is poor but putting win % into context.
