Newcastle Reported Interested In Bosnia Defensive Midfielder

Newcastle were linked with 25 year-old Bosnia and Herzegovina international Anel Hadzic quite a bit last summer, and he  plays in defensive midfield for SK Sturm Graz in the Austrian Bundesliga, and the 6’1″ player can also play at center-back.

anel hadzic

Anal Hadzic – free agent in the summer

Hadzic wants a move to England to play in the Premier League, and there was news about three weeks ago that West Ham had been offered the player.

The Times is reporting that West Ham and Newcastle United are the two clubs who are interested in signing the player for €5M – which is around £3.7M.

Newcastle may be interested in the player because his contract runs out in the summer, although the club have a one year option on that, but he could be available as a free agent in the summer, and that’s always attractive to a Mike Ashley owned Newcastle – because they are cheap – the free agents that  is. 😀

We may be interested in the player, but we doubt Newcastle would bring him in this month, and maybe the defensive midfielder is a target if Cheick Tiote is sold in the summer, which may even be likely with young Mehdi Abeid playing well when he’s in the Newcastle first team, and the 22 year-old can still improve a lot.

Hadzic is a defensive midfielder and if we were to sell Cheick Tiote in January, this player could be a potential replacement – but with time running out and Cheick’s Ivory Coast now in the quarter finals of the African Cup of Nations after beating Cameroon 1-0 tonight – that looks very doubtful.

Cheick was left out of the team tonight after picking up two yellow cards in his first two games – sound familiar?

Hadzic played for the Austria U21 side twice, but then opted to play for Bosnia and Herzegovina at full International level, and he was in the 23 man squad at the World Cup in Brazil and currently has six full caps for his country, which is part of the old Yugoslavia.

Last season he played 36 games for SK Sturm Graz in all competitions and scored 4 goals and had 2 assists and he’s made 17 appearances with 5 assists this season.

He’s been at SK Sturm Graz since the summer of 2013, and previously he was at SV Reid, another Austrian club where he played 190 games with 25 goals and 12 assists, and joined them back in 2007, when he was just 17.

Anyone else get the sneaky suspicion that the club have mistaken bosnian for bosman? I can understand as they do sound similar, if said at speed in a southern accent. Mystery solved.

Actually scrap my last theory regarding the bosman v Bosnian. He plays in the centre of midfield so it’s a cert as we are woefully short in that position.

Time for a bit of wishful day dreaming – I remember whan SBR was managing the Toon he tried to buy Luis Enrique from Barcelona , he said he was one of his favourite players who unbelievably has played every positon at the highst level apart from goalie and central defender – Now here’s the thing LE doesn’t get on with Messi and there is big talk about him leaving in the summer to be replaced buy FdB which would leave LE looking for a club .Come on Mr Charnley keep this situation monitored.

Luis Enrique’s already lined up for SJP. Don’t underestimate Kim Un Charnley, he’s just been toying with FdB.

If Enrique has a change of heart, no worries, all’s in hand, he has a fall-back option – Carver!

    Lesh,

So what could this disciplinary action extend to in terms of consequences? Can we hope to see the big man ran out of football. I do think there should be some sort of Psych test for football club owners to ensure a predisposition for actually intending to do a good job.

I dont think anyone will run the twat out of football. Not even the government.

The SFA will back down as they cannot afford to lose another high profile club from their PL. Hearts will be back next season. Hibs or Rangers possibly too.

Does anyone think about when we bring in a new head coach, there might be a thought within Charnley and Carr that they could bring a player or two thats on our scouting radar to SJP?
Just rattling off a few possibilities here:

McLaren = Will Hughes, Mason Bennett
    Garde = Grenier, Lacazette
    De Boer = Fischer
Schuster = Marko Marin (from Werder Bremen Days)
    Tuchel = Okazaki

Those 5 would be my shortlist. And when you look at the fact that 3 out of the 5 are not available till the summer and they would be top of the list it seems, it makes sense why Charnley has taken the Carver option.

It does also help that we are close to bringing 2 more young spanish starlets and Delli Alli who from what I have read about, is the next Lampard or Gerrard, depending on what you read. With no real official talk of any activity towards our squad, it appears keeping them together under Carver is a cautious option. Then with a young squad, the possible release of Colo, we can have a fresh start to next season, with I believe still a top 10 finish in sight. Im excited to see where De Jong fits back into the squad, along with Cisse and Tiote coming back, there is every chance a Top 10 finish is on the cards.
    HWTL!

Fraid Lacazette is out of our league now, will be playing CL footy next year, either with Lyon or somewhere else. Plus his price will have doubled since last summer.

Very keen to see Alli come in, will be interesting pre-season to see where him, Lascelles and Darlow are at, plus Perez should be another year stronger.

Still just need fatty out and right coach appointed.

So then, match day is approaching, ooh I felt nervous, it’s gonna be long nervous 16 weeks ahead.Obviously no easy games week in week out.Interesting to see how the players fight and respond. The positive is we have almost full strength squad.Disappointing to see Aarons progress cut short by injuries. He is one of two players I expect to be a game changers, the other is Rtaylor.I am sure they are available in the next two weeks to steer us to victories.Hope we don’t force to sell any player from now on,that is very important. Can’t wait for the Hull game hoping to see sdj and obertan on the bench.Hwtl!!

Somehow I can’t see UK law being able to force Ashley out of football – we can’t be inhibiting business success and wealth creation can we.

I like the idea of psychometrics to assess sincerity being mandatory but would greed-supporting governments enable it? No chance!

Maybe a lobotomy might stifle his psychopathic tendencies!!

Is Ed seriously suggesting that this guy would be a suitable replacement for Tiote, if he left?

I know that the player valuations on the Transfermarkt website aren’t always the most reliable but on there Hadzic is only valued at €1M, so goodness knows where that figure of €5M has come from. If he really was worth that sort of money do you really think that clubs like Leeds and Bournemouth would be chasing him?

Carver right now is fighting to build good cv just in case the new head coach wants entirely new staffs.
