Anita, Cabella And Ameobi All Start At Hull – Cisse On Bench

Hull City Crest 2014.svgnufc emblem

John Carver has named his team for the vital game at Hull City today, and Vurnon Anita, Remy Cabella and Sammy Ameobi all start and there are two changes from the side that lost at home to the Saints – with Sammy Ameobi and centre-back Mike Williamson coming into the side in place of Yoan Gouffran, who drops to the subs bench, and the injured Paul Dummett.

Newcastle are playing in a 4-3-3 formation today.

Teams:

Hull (4-3-1-2): Allan McGregor; Ahmed Elmohamady, Michael Dawson, Curtis Davies (c), Andrew Robertson; David Meyler, Tom Huddlestone, Jake Livermore; Gaston Ramirez; Abel Hernandez, Nikica Jelavic
Substitutes: Steve Harper, Alex Bruce, Paul McShane, Stephen Quinn, Robbie Brady, Tom Ince, Sone Aluko

Newcastle: (4-3-3): Tim Krul; Daryl Janmaat, Mike Williamson, Fabricio Coloccini (c), Massadio Haidara; Moussa Sissoko, Vurnon Anita, Jack Colback; Remy Cabella, Ayoze Perez, Sammy Ameobi
Substitutes: Jak Alnwick, Davide Santon, Mehdi Abeid, Gabriel Obertan, Yoan Gouffran, Emmanuel Riviere, Papiss Cisse

Referee: Phil Dowd (Staffordshire)

We expected Mehdi Abeid to get the nod over Vurnon Anita but John is staying with the Dutchman, and Haidara is preferred to Santon at left back with Paul Dummett being out injured.

Mike Williamson as expected comes in at center-back, and we are just hoping that Colo and Willo can have good games today for the Magpies.

And it’s good to see Gabby Obertan back on the bench and goalkeeper Jak Alnwick has returned and makes the subs bench in place of 17 year-old Freddie Woodman.

We must start picking up some points today – and Hull City manager Steve Bruce has warned that Newcastle could be “fragile” today after losing seven of our last nine games, and the Geordie also says we could be dragged into a relegation fight.

Hull will start all out today to try to get an early goal.

This is what caretaker manager John Carver has said about the game today:

“Why can’t we go on a run? Why can’t we go and win games?” “I’ve seen enough in the last three league games (we’ve lost all three of them) to suggest we can go on a run.”

“We’ve got a group of three games now which are very, very important. The most important thing is getting that first one and it has to come soon.” “I want the same performance as last season at Hull, because it was definitely one of our best performances away from home.”

“That was really encouraging, so a similar performance and a similar result would put a smile back on my face again.” “They are at home and the pressure is going to be on them,” “The one thing I do know is that they are getting one or two players back, and so it is very difficult to predict what team and what system they will play.”

“But we will play on their home record, yes. We know what it’s like when you’re under pressure at home and not winning games – you can turn the crowd.” “It can be dangerous when you are under pressure – we saw that at the start of the season. But we’ve got to be careful of not slipping up.”

This is how Newcastle fans think the game will go today.

gouffran himself might be on the bench but TBH, we still will see the same old game.

    where is the pace?
    where is the goal scorers?
    where is the width?
finally where is the decent CB?

Stupid, stupid selection. Not the team itself but the fact that he’s opted to not put a CB on the bench. Completely unbalanced. Should have chosen either Gouffran or Obertan, not both.

next week is the week we must win our game,

team next week needs to be this

    ____krul
    jan_colo_willo_dummett
    ___abeid__colback_sissoko
    obatan__cisse___perez

of course we’ll still have the same sh1t defensively but we will have the goal scorer and the pace.

It’s a decent line up and bench, expected good to be on the bench though.

Are Good and Street not around the club right now? Big risk considering our luck with injuries to have to go with, i assume, janmaat, as reserve CB.

Anyway team is ok, only change i would have made was Abeid/Anita, eventually Cisse in for Ameobi and move Perez wider left of a front 3 for me.

    Lets see how it goes.

    Double repost.

So because you find things repetitive and boring, that gives you the right to suggest what other people post or to not bother posting then tell them to support a real club.

How about, and I know it might sound like a revolutionary theory, people put what they want on a blog solely set up for that purpose. We don’t need blog police. Ed does that.

Jeffrey is a well known multiple poster and troll. He posts one line statements in order to get through ed’s mediation. Once he’s allowed to post without the restrictions the vile insults begin. Again another well known fact so before you get on your high horse I suggest you look at the history of the blog, particularly where Jeffrey is concerned. Well done though.

    no CB on the bench!

carver might be telling ashley to bring us the quality CB, think about it good or streete on the bench and what happens “no we’ve got 5 CBs already at the club i’m not bringing a 6th CB.

Very strange there is no CB on the bench its just asking for trouble !! I know Janmaat has played CB but its not ideal !

Good pace on the left hand side with Haidara and Ameobi both deserve a little run on the left

We need Cabella and Sissoko breaking their necks to get into the box to support Perez though

Pretty much the same team most expected. Nothing much more to choose from although I do find it odd there’s no CB on the bench. Anita over Abeid is understandable too, don’t want to rush the kid back to quickly as happened under the king so yeah not a bad team. Just hope we go for it.

Well we know the player now, the team sheet is out so it’s all down to what Carver has taught them that’s going to change the way they play and get us a result.

Carver wanted this chance, so let’s give to him. I want to see more passing and moving, more passion, more team cohesion…… Oh who am I kidding. Lets just hope we get lucky.

Think its more about attitude and desire now with the team we have out. Player for player i think we have more talent but they need to show that on the pitch.

Think JC will get us to attack more and be more entertaining, still see soooooooo many holes in the back though.

would like to see a Lascelles/Saylor – Dummett CB pairing next year if no new CBs come in , realise that depends on Lascelles progressing and being ready for the PL and Saylor lasting more than a month without frigging himself but nowt like dreaming.

Happy with that team. It’s a decent lineup.

Defence is what it is, no real options there.

Midfield is fine, don’t know how fit abeid and obertan are so that’s fine.

Only change would be cisse through the middle with perez pushed wider. Other than that as good as we can get. But again don’t know cisse’s fitness/tiredness just coming back from Africa.

Glad we arent rushing Abeid and Obertan back. Pleased with the line-up, Anita- I thought- had a good game against Southampton and a run in the first team will only do him good. At last, we have a strong bench.

Like Sage, im going for a 3-1 win. Ther is always the chance of conceding a goal with that defence but that is the same as hull. Cabella picking up some form with hints of a good understanding with perez can only help us with Anita (hopefully) dictating the play and showing why we spent a lot of money for him. Fingers crossed.

Probably the strongest team he could have put out. That’s saying something with Willo in the starting 11. See how we go until half time. If we’re not in front, deploy Cisse down the middle and hopefully he can get a hat-trick. These are the games where Cabella should shine, the only issue I have with that is we have no target man in the middle if he makes a good run down the wing to cross to. I’d probably give Riviere a run out too. He needs some more playing time to build his confidence up.

Perhaps Carver has started Anita because he had a great game there last season. Im sure he scored his first goal there aswell. This must be a likely theory since Carver keeps going on about how great we were there last season.

Yeah Anita was great in that game in fact the whole team was great with Remy and De Jong linking well although Remy and Sissoko then got injured , Pardew lost the plot so we never seen that team out again for the rest of the season

Anita in a fast pass and move team would be excellent we have the players who could do this its just never really been coached so lets get behind Carver now hes not going anywhere till the end of the season so might as well back him even though hes no ones choice !

He could bring on Santon and move Janmaat in , Daryl has played centrally quite a few times.

Ok, fresh start JC. I don’t particularly like your persona and think time will prove you’re not up to scratch as a manager, but I wish you the best will in the world and would love to be proved wrong. It’s only fair we see this as his first proper game in charge, he’s had time to pause over the break, take it all in, hopefully get a handle on things and begin to shape the team his way, the matches before the break would’ve been difficult for any person given the maelstrom like circumstances he was thrust into.
