Dele Alli To Have Medical At Spurs Today

It’s looking like Newcastle will miss out on signing Dele Alli of MK Dons today, after we had been in the driver’s seat to sign him since early December.

Dele Alli

Dele Alli – having medical at Spurs

Dele has been compared to a young Steven Gerrard,  and there is news coming through that he will have a medical at White Hart Lane today.

And if that news is accurate he has not chosen Newcastle of the three Premier League clubs interested in him, with the other one being Aston Villa.

The Telegraph is reporting that Alli will choose Tottenham over  Villa and Newcastle, and is due to be arriving at White Hart Lane today to take his medical.

Maybe the uncertainty over who will be the head coach at Newcastle was part of the reason Alli has turned away from Newcastle at the last moment.

But the news over the last couple of days was that Tottenham were moving in and reports had been that they were now the favorites to sign the 18 year-old wonder kid.

That was always going to be bad news for Newcastle when a bigger clubs like Spurs moved in, since Newcastle always refuse to be in a bidding war, so maybe Spurs offered £1M more for Dele tto the Dons and sealed  the deal.

That’s more than likely what happened and there are at least seven – maybe more – clubs in England who have more ambition than Newcastle have, and are willing to pay slightly over the odds to get the deal done.

If this news is true it will be very disappointing for Newcastle fans, that we have missed out on a top England youngster, but the real truth is that the name of Newcastle United is no longer as big a draw to players as it was before Mike Ashley bought the club almost eight years ago.

We are now known as a frugal club which is run on a shoestring, with the finances being much more important than the quality of the team, and that’s almost  the exact opposite when Freddy Shepherd was running the club.

There has to be a better balance somewhere in between those two extremes – and if we were willing to spend more money (and it’s certainly available) we could become a top side again.

But it’s looking more and more like Dele Alli will become a  Spurs player today, and will be loaned back to MK Dons for the rest of the season.

Newcastle seem to have lost out on a really top young Englishman.

🙁

Yes if the club feels that someone can step up then no need to buy RB understudy but money for Santon should be re-invested. Otherwise why sell him now and weaken the squad until a understudy have proven himself in PL?

I know is club is like a prime example of “stupid is was stupid does”, but haven’t they learned anything from the Mbiwa incident?

…I’ll believe it when I see Santon leaving on loan.

    Smart decision by Alli.

How can we expect any decent player, or top youngster to sign for us when we don’t even have a permanent Head coach.

Good luck to the lad, he’ll be given plenty opportunity at an ambitious club like Tottenham.

    Reyan,
I think you will have to explain what a ‘mushroom club’ is. I have no idea what it could mean, not even sure I could hazard a guess.

In more bad news, Jerome Champagne has failed to receive the backing of 5 National Associations. Far and away the best qualified candidate for the role, but too many FA’s drawn in by the glamour of Figo, the money of Prince Ali, or the fear of upsetting Blatter. Absolute joke.

So with santon leaving, we will have no defenders on the bench against Stoke.

Looking at that league table there is absolutely nothing to look forward to for the rest of this season, no new players to look forward to coming in, eighth place looks out of our reach with a summer of frustration at the end of it all. A top ten finish so that JC and the boys get their bonuses.

Sooooo, we are short of defenders and let a CB and LB leave in January. Excellent business that. I can see the slugs really pushing us on.

Oh and sky are a bunch of wankers. The real coup for Newcastle would be if we manage to keep hold of sissoko they say. How is keeping a player a coup?

Message from the club of how low our expectations should be more like- look how lucky you are. F*****g absolute bollox.

when you touch a mushroom in your hand,it gets fragile. If papers are to be trusted and if we do tried to sign Dele Alli and get fraggled by lesser teams and just hand over a player, then we are fragile like mushroom!!

The worst bit is that we know JC will be getting the job if he limps us in to 22/14th another four years of third and fourth round cup exits and being told that weakening the squad is pushing us on, plus four years of Carver denying he knows anything about incomings or outgoings.

No surprise that Alli is going to Spurs. Local Premiership club, easy commute from Milton Keynes. More successful club than us or Villa. Can’t criticize the kid. Good luck to him.

    Reyan,
Okay. Well the club have in the past said that they won’t get involved in bidding wars either on fees or wages, so I guess in that sense we are a ‘mushroom club’. That is why the club try and keep their business under wraps, rather then alerting others to potential transfers.

Santon gone and Dele Alli off to Spurs, as I said he’d never come here….All speculation to keep the masses happy. Shocking decision to allow Santon to leave, especially considering MYM was sold last week, yet dummett, raylor and Williamson Are Still here

the only reason to ship santon out is to get rid of his wages
the lads come back from long term injury if this loan was for a month it would be a good idea

so who is going to be our back up right back then
saylor is out raylor also and not got the pace and I would think is just fragile also raylor is out of contract at the end of the season

You don’t keep Santon on just to be a backup right back.

There were three players (Santon, Haidara and Dummitt) competing for the one spot. Arguably that’s one too many.

The regular right back for the Under 21s / Reserves should be the understudy as why else have a Under 21/Reserve squad ?

So if santon goes then we’re left with 2 left backs, 1 right back and 2 centre backs fit at the club.
The way the club is run is a disgrace!!
