Sky Sports and other news outlet have reported that as many as six of Newcastle’s fringe players – Gael Bigirimana, Shane Ferguson, Kevin Mbabu, Remie Streete and Haris Vuckic. will be sent on loan to Rangers FC – in an effort to help Rangers get promoted to the Scottish Premier League, via the four club playoff format.
And Newcastle have just confirmed this news.
Mike Ashley – deals between his two clubs
Mike Ashley is in control of both Newcastle and Rangers, so we suppose he can basically do what he likes, especially because SFA rules have no restriction on cross-border loan deals.
That will give those players some first team football, and the previous news was that Curtis Good could have been one of the players – but that hasn’t happened and that’s good.
We have already lost Steven Taylor so we are a bit short of central defenders – and we have only two experienced center-backs in Colo and Willo.
So we are short of back four players and especially central defenders – which is why it’s good we have kept Curtis at the club.
We have been one center-back short all this season, after we sent Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa to Roma, and that deal was made permanent earlier in the week.
And Steven Taylor picked up his Achilles injury and now out for the rest of the season.
The news has been coming in all night that a mega-loan deal was being negotiated between Ashley’s two clubs, to send Newcastle players north of the border.
This deal will mean we have let back four players – Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, Davide Santon and Remie Streete – all leave the club, and we lost Steven Taylor to injury in early January – so that’s four back four players we have lost in the last five weeks.
When we initially wrote this article, we thought Curtis Good would be one of them, so it’s good (excuse the pun) that he was not allowed to go out on loan.

Comment #41i think ffp has started to do its purpose. This transfer window has been more balanced compared to previous transfer windows… Roma has been the most impressive club in this window.
Reg Newcastle: The worrying part was lack of interest in any defenders considering Schar and Reid has only 6 months left in their contract…
Good Part: All the major players have stayed..

Comment #42Quite shockng if the”board” (Tubbs) has input into team selection – believable though.
Funny thing Beardsley doing a PR job this morning about de Jong .strange timing.
I certainly think thant sending several players to Rangers has not just been decided – probably weeks in the making.
Suggests Penfold highlighting our squad was maxed out -had a purpose – nobody coming in – when he knew sme were going out.
Exodus only reported on the last day of the window.
Puts into perspective Tubbs adjourment of proceedings with the SFA – allows him to continue his Rangers dealings. If he had appeared and SFA banned him -todays moves would not have been possible.
Shocking if Santon forced out -on the last day.
Santons missus probably the only one speaking the truth today. Similar conduct when Caroll was sold.
What a joke of a club – and there are still some supporting this lot.
Hang your heads in shame.

Dual ownership can not be against UEFA rules as there are already numerous cases that already exist; their rules only apply to playing in the Champions or Europa Leagues.
The SFA ruling on dual ownership appears to be quite general and could be understood to be only in connection with clubs under their authority. Hence the likelihood of potential court action, or at least the threat as both parties will not want to get into an expensive trial.
MA is basically going to ignore the SFA until they actually force him to appear in court; he knows they will try every alternative before they make that decision.

Comment #46A bit disappointed we didn’t make a play for Ings even though I rated that story only slightly better than the ‘de Boer to manage Toon’ one.
After cutting short Streete’s stay at Port Vale to only 2 matches, I’m surprised to see he’#s been loaned out. I only hope this means Goode is ready to play or that Satka has overtaken Streete in the pecking order. Otherwise, we’ll be worse off for competent centre-backs than we were for first team goalkeepers earlier this season.

Comment #47Saying that a mid-Premiership status amounts to destruction of the club is a bit disrepectful to half the Prem and another 72 clubs for that matter. We are – like many other clubs – as good as we can afford to be. Chelsea have debts of nearly a billion, losses of 50+ million and a wage bill of around 180 million. Does that make any sense? City have a smaller debt, but similar losses and a wage bill of over 230 million. Liverpool have similar losses, and a wage bill of over 130 million, more than twice Newcastle’s. QPR have even higher losses, Man U have a 295 million debt with very high interest payments and a bigger wage bill than Chelsea’s… Villa has nearly 3 times our wage bill and a debt of around £190. Should our debt be doubled, and should we be saddled with double the wage bill (making it virtually impossible to reduce the debt)? It wouldn’t be enough – we could never win the title.
Shame we didn’t sign Dele Alli, but if he watches MOTD no wonder he chose the bench at Spurs instead of more likely starts here – too much pointless unpleasantness in the stadium about financial attitudes which are actually prudent. If you want to take out a mortgage on your house to back an outsider in the Grand National, go ahead – but don’t expect a successful entrepreneur to join in your fantasy.

When has anyone on here said they wish to emulate Chelsea or Man utd in what they spend?
Your correct in saying that we should be as good as we can afford to be. Only we can afford to be a lot better than our current level.
90% on here if asked would use Southampton Swansea (how did it come to this?)as something of a business model to follow rather than Chelsea as we all realise that without Mr roubles its not sustainable.
Why do you think most on here want a manager such as frank de boar over Mourino ?
Maybe its because we realise he can get the best out of squad as whole without needing to blow budgets out the water ala Mourino.
Sorry if the atmosphere at times is unpleasant for you.
I prefer to call that passion and I,d be more worried if the place was full of simple polite applause as it would further demonstrate how much more has been ripped from this proud club.
Off the field I think we are run to a reasonable standard.
I ask only that profits are invested back in to the club (player sales and TV revenue for example)
We sell a player(s) every January and all the club statements and scripted interviews cannot hide the fact that once we are at 40 pts that’s where the season ends .
Name me one club anywhere who is so terrified of playing in Europe that they effectively derail a season if it looks remotely likely?
Please do not bring up the debt to Ashley which stands at the same level every year and is held up to quell a revolt by the restless natives.
That can never be paid back due to the fact that he has cut every revenue stream we had including advertising (not happy with plastering it on every area of the stadia he has even erected a minty looking screen that looks like he got from Argos to show even more) so how much is that worth a season to company building a global brand ?
Have a look at how much more sports direct and Ashley are now worth since he bought us.
Being prudent is one thing but an owner/D.O.F with a view of the big picture and a real grasp on modern day football would maybe have looked’ for example at Bony ,realised the potential and not gone in with such insulting opening bids and packages.
Please feel free to work out how much Swansea got him for and how much he has just made them.
Look also what a club like Swansea will do with that extra revenue .
That could be why they enjoy a stadium with less “pointless unpleasantness”
Be interested who you’d like to see as our next coach/manager.
If you want to back an outsider in the Grand National …mate we’ve been there already .. his name was Kinnear and yes as with all wide of the mark bets it fell at the first jump.

Comment #49Everyone here seems to think that club profits are just trousered by Ashley. That’s not legal nor could it be concealed. The auditor’s published accounts state that excess funds are in club reserves.
Southampton is a good model, but their current squad is largely paid for by the profits from products of the youth system there (Shaw and Lallana), and they have been excellently managed (coached). And they make losses of several million. Fans want Newcastle to be an exceptional club, too, but it’s not easy. Look at “the Bank of England Club” down the road – they’re worse than Newcastle most seasons, they cry in their beer about their past glories… The glory days have gone.
Anyway, I’m one of the ones that votes for Garde in Ed’s polls, precisely because he is an expert in finding talent and in working under a selling chairman, i.e. he is a clever and flexible strategist.

Comment #52I dont know about you but these are fantastic moves in my opinion
All of those players including Ferguson who ive criticised in the past could do with regular football.
I hope they thrive in glasgow and come back better players

Totally agree. These lads arent gonna be involved in the first team this season so give them some competitive games in front of a vocal crowd at Ibrox. It can only make them better.
