Newcastle must have a decent enough chance of getting all 3 points tomorrow if we can play as well as we did in our 3-0 win at Hull last week, and if we can tighten up on defense a bit.
Papiss Cisse – will he start tomorrow?
We’d like to somehow have both Papiss Cisse and Ayoze Perez start up front for Newcastle, so we have more of a goal-scoring threat – especially at home.
This is a possible side John Carver could start, if he was to play in a 4-4-2 attacking formation:
Krul
Janmaat Williamson Coloccini (c) Haidara
Cabella Sissoko Colback Ameobi
Cisse Perez
That would mean Vurnon Anita would have to drop down to the bench, after having a goods game last week, and somehow we don’t think John Carver will start that side.
While that’s the side we’d like to see starting tomorrow, this is the side we think John will actually start:
Krul
Janmaat Williamson Coloccini (c) Haidara
Cabella Anita Colback Sissoko Ameobi
Perez
That’s the same side that started at Hull last week and played quite well.
We would normally have expected that Paul Dummett would come back into the side at center-back, but with 6’7″ Peter Crouch likely to start, we think Mike Williamson will stay at center back to counteract Peter’s heading ability.
It could be that John Carver starts Paul at left-back, but especially after he said yesterday that players who play well will keep their place – we don’t think he will leave Massadio out of the side after a very good performance last week.
What would your team be for tomorrow – and what formation would you start and why?
And fans seem fairly confident we can win this game tomorrow.
A win would be simply terrific.

actually i think myself cisse will come in for anita.
why would any manager want to drop our top scorer when he’s only been out due to ACON. Also this game is a home game, the midweek game is away. Carver will need to get some wins if he is to get a chance of becoming permanent manager.

Comment #4I think 442 with Perez floating behind Cisse
I also think Cabella and Cisse could link up well because Cisse is always looking for the early pass and Cabella is capable
Also Sammy seems to be able to set Cisse up for goals think he has set up 3 goals for him already this season
Only thing would maybe being outnumbered in midfield
There is a good claim for Colback to be getting dropped for a few games but I think he will start this one

Nope
Goal! David Meyler (Hull City) was in the right place at the right time to get to the rebound inside the box, and he fires the ball into the left side of the goal. It is 0:1.

Here’s another:
Brilliant finish! Jermain Defoe (Sunderland) perfectly collected a pass on the edge of the penalty area, which came from Liam Bridcutt (Sunderland), and he produced a nice strike into the bottom left corner. The score is 0:1.

Poor Welshie, he will still be lying under that bridge wrapped in his Welsh flag where he cried himself to sleep last night.

The funniest thing about last night, is that the Welsh were convinced ther would destroy us no matter who we put out, and we ended up beating them with what were essentially our reserves. They have ALL gone very quiet, not just our resident swans/nufc fan 😀

True enough mate, Welshie did make a short appearance last night, before grabbing his flag and heading for his bridge.

Comment #30Matt Targett (Southampton) is not able to continue due to his injury and will be replaced by Florin Gardo? (Southampton).
19′
The game is interrupted now, Matt Targett (Southampton) picks up a knock and the physio has to come.
We have been witnesses to an ordinary game without many breathtaking situations, but there is still space for improvement in the second half. It has been a tight contest so far. Players of the home team present themselves with possession football, while the away team tries to find the weakness in the opposition’s defence especially with rapid counter-attacks.
