Newcastle Snatch Draw Out Of The Jaws Of Victory

John Carver’s chances of getting the head coach job in the summer took a blow today after 90 minutes, when Peter Crouch headed the equalizer to get Stoke a point, but we thought on the basis of the play today, Newcastle were the better side, and when you go 1-0 up at home with only 16 minutes to play, you have to be able to see the game out.

peter croach scores

Peter Crouch broke Newcastle’s hearts with this late equalizer

But Newcastle couldn’t do that today and it’s basically 2 points thrown away.

We should have probably been 3-0 by the time Crouch scored after Gabby Obertan and Ayoze Perez both missed guilt-edged opportunities to put the game away.

We cannot think that John Carver is happy with what happened after we had gone 1-0 ahead today – we basically threw the win away.

We suppose the good news is that we at least got a point. 🙁

Carver doing himself no favours if he wants the job long term .

Sammy should have came off, not Cabella and our all round play was poor.

Draw a fair result in the end .

Who’s voting for colback? That is the percentage of cluelessness on the blog right there. Dear oh dear he scored a goal.

There wasn’t any standout players / performances.

But I thought that Haidara was excellent going forward and with Santon off to Italy I think the left back spot is his to lose.

To be fair Stoke are a horrible team
If you were to judge Arsene Wenger as a manager from his record against Stoke you wouldn’t give him Blyth Spartans

Could someone fill me in? I missed the last 10 minutes –

Did Perez miss a late chance or something? I will say Janmaat had a pretty poor game today. Sissoko was a little off as well. I thought Obertan did great as a sub but I see apparently he messed up late in the game?

Colback wasnt the best player today fgs
Sammy Ameobi was easily the player who had the most impact
Also Carver didnt get it wrong taking off cabella for obertan
Obertan had a direct hand in the goal!

If anything taking Sammy off was a bit of a mistake (although i understand his desire to bring in Abeid)

As soon as Sammy came off Stoke started delivering better quality crosses from the right side including the one that ultimately resulted in the goal

Can we really call that a game of Football? Come on, it was SHOCKING. From Williamson unable to defend to Janmaat unable to throw a ball in at pro level to Perez and Parsnip blowing open goals. SHOCKING!

Perez cut in from the left past two / three players with only the keeper to beat but elected to hit row z. Very UnPerez like to be fair.

Its hard to pick a man of the match from a poor performance, no one actually stood out, maybe Colo, the match picked up after Obertan came on.

Sissoko has been poor for a while people will slate but he is not a no 10 and sometimes would be better on the wing when there is more space he was great with Cabaye in the no 10 who would then release him he seems to have stopped working as hard now he thinks he is a play makers

Cabella should be the no 10 not on the right wing

Obertan looked half decent but bottled the chance when he should have smashed it

Colback was terrible as well could have seen red and apart from the goal done nothing he needs to do more in terms of getting into the box

Perez would be better wide or in the free role looked much better when given space although Cisse done nothing at all when he came on which is a danger as we need him to start playing well

He missed a great opportunity -one he created himself out of nothing – at the end
Could have given us 3 points but these things happen
He was fantastic again overall today

Wenger has always finished in the CL spots so defeat to Stoke can be forgiven and normally they lose to Stoke away from home. We were at home bud and they were missing Arnautovic, Bojan and Shawcross there 3 best players

Collo for me didn’t put a foot or head wrong and very nearly stopped there goal but very very slim pickings to choose from

If we. Don’t get 3 points at palace our next run of 5 or 6 games is horrid and we could be stuck on 31 points for a while

And just imagine if we get injuries upfront or at the back!?

Ashley deserves to go down not the club or fans but his gambles are costing us again fuskin fat flappy faced turd!

Colo did okay today (by his Wretched standards ) but lest we forget, his attempt at a goal line clearance was as pathetic as they come.
Overall we have to give Stoke and Crouch in particular credit for taking a point today
There’s a reason they are where they are on the table

Fully agree about Cabella. I think Ameobi and – when he’s in form- Janmaat do fine on the wings. Put Cabella on the ball in center and let him run at the defense. With Sissoko and Perez as his targets I feel we’d be much more threatening

I’m not mate but I’ve known the lads deficiencies when all others praised. CM is a place where we are strong so for me Colback doesn’t deserve a starting place. Abeid is better or play sissoko there and move Cabella centrally. I just know shite when I see it.

Colback was god awful today and shouldnt have been on the pitch after making that daft challenge. I call it as I see it, judging by a few opinions on here it does seem as though the tide is turning against young jack colback. I assume you voted for him?

As for toon brother I get his annoyance at Colo but we don’t really have anyone to replace him or the others.
