Newcastle Could Have De Jong Starting At Palace

Siem de Jong could return to the match-day 18 for the game against Crystal Palace tonight and it’s likely he could start on the bench, although John Carver could surprise us all with starting Siem in the number 10 position.

Siem de Jong – it will be great to have him back in the side

Siem has made only three appearances this season after joining us form Ajax in the summer, but he badly tore a thigh muscle in training, and it’s over five months now since he was first injured.

Siem is included in the provisional squad for the game at Selhurst Park tomorrow, night, and that’s a game we just cannot lose against Alan Pardew’s new club.

This is the Newcastle squad that John Carver has named for the game:

Krul, Alnwick, Janmaat, Dummett, Williamson, Coloccini, Haidara, R. Taylor, Anita, Abeid, Sissoko, Cabella, Colback, De Jong, Gouffran, Ameobi, Obertan, Cisse, Riviere, Perez.

Cheick Tiote is due back from the African Nations Cup sometime tomorrow, but he has an ankle injury which kept him out of the Ivory Coast’s side for their last four games of the African Cup of Nations.

Ivory Coast won the final on Sunday on penalties against Ghana after extra time, and that was their first win since back in 1992, when they beat Senegal on penalties.

After just missing out against Stoke on Sunday afternoon with a second win in a row, it would raise the spirits on Tyneside if Newcastle can beat Crystal Palace tomorrow night – and that would put us on 34 points from 25 games.

Most fans think we will lose this game tomorrow, maybe because Alan Pardew knows too much about our players and the way we play?

Ed, I would suggest that most fans think we will lose this game because the defence is poor, the form is poorer and there seems to be absolutely no urgency to turn it around.
If you then add in that we have little in the way of attack, it starts to look just a little grim against a Palace side that P45DUE will be absolutely deparate to give us a spanking!!

We look shakey at the back but colo had a much better game against stoke, looked switched on. hopefully he can keep it up although I think palace will cause us problems.

As for going forward de jong and Cisse fit will be key for us to climb the league. De Jong linked well with perez in those early games and cisse can finish….add aarons into that (or even cabella) and its a lethal front 4. Just need the lads at the back to do a better job.

I’d play Sissoko and Abeid infront of the back 4, with those I mentioned above at the top of the pitch.

Almost like a new signing but better as he knows the team already.

A good example of how fans feel at the minute.

A fair few would argue (and have) that we have a better squad than Palace and that Pardew is a below average manager (some stretching it as far as the worst manager ever…), yet we don’t feel confident of a win against them.

I’m quite looking forward to this one, curiosity has got the best of me. Have to admit, I’m not overly hopeful.

“He (Pardew) taught me it’s important not to be around the training ground all the time”

    Priceless.

So that’s why the lads liked the inept one, and now Carve-up, so much, never around.

When you have a squad made up of mainly championship quality players, having a premier league player back in our team is going to be a good boost.

Ed, most fans think we will lose the game not because of P45due’s knowledge, more that we can’t score goals, we can’t defend set plays and we have a coach that has fallen into the job not because he’s any good but because he was “there” when useless P45due left!!

I doubt he’ll start since he’s just suffered from a collapsed lung…..devastated, was really looking forward to him giving us a lift until the end of the season.
