If we didn’t know before last night’s game that Alan Pardew and John Carver have a mutual admiration society going, then we do now, after the comments each manager made before the game last night.
Alan Pardew and John Carver before the game last night
And then Alan Pardew had this to say after the game which ended in a stalemate at 1-1:
“I think John’s got the credentials to be a Premier League manager.” . “I look at other managers and see no difference with the qualities that John possesses.”
“I wish him all the best. I love him as a guy, as a colleague and as a friend, and that will never change.”
Although John Carver is a Geordie, it seems that Newcastle fans would prefer a more experienced head coach brought in this summer, who has a proven record of success in getting the very best out of the players he has available.
And in our poll – with over 11,000 readers voting, close to 90% don’t want John as the new head coach of Newcastle.
We still think John has some chance of getting the job, but his record will have to improve dramatically.
From his first six league games in charge, we have only 6 points, and now we start meeting the good teams like at Manchester City a week on Saturday. 🙁

Agree with a lot of that but I have to have Cisse upfront, 1 chance 1 goal yesterday and he’s scoring every 70 mins so bring him on for the last 30 mins means he’ll score once every 3 games, playing him from the start he scores every game…or almost every game.
I like young Perez but it’s time to take him out of the firing line, in fact I’d probably say to the young lad, go and a couple of days with your family seeing as we have a 10 day break. Come back fresh!! For me it’s Ameobi or Perez for the left spot!!

Comment #122It’s funny that a blog that can completely blank someone purporting to be a Rangers fan sounding out co-operation can generate dozens of responses every time Toonbrother posts exactly the same words.

Comment #126It is difficult to say that our attacking play was successful as the fluidity of the players positions created a lack of presence; or using four strikers was effective as they all appeared at times in the midfield and were out numbered on the break.
Our Toon will no doubt complain about Colback when it was the forwards that were not making or completing passes. Toonbrother will complain about Collo when it was the manager that went without defensive cover. If the same starting line up had been used from the Stoke game and we had lost, the comments would have been even more disparaging about not changing and not showing progression. However the inability of the manager was shown up by a flawed plan.

I wouldn’t play Cisse from start as he doesn’t work the defence as hard as Perez does which in turn creates space, if we had better crossers of the ball I’d go for Cisse everytime. Unfortunately it’s individual pieces of skill and not much passing moving or crossing.

I didn’t see the Rangers poster the other day but the non response is exactly what I’d expect. There’s dozens on here saying WE or YOU should be doing this that or the other but nobody saying I’M doing…., then they wonder why nothing happens.

It was about Monday I think. I’ll have a look later.
OP,
I did try to become directly involved. In an indirect sort of way. It came to a pause when one group of fans announced a different time for match day walk-out to the one that had been agreed upon. On the morning of the game. I just thought, well…………

I agree with you. I think Anita is a good squad player. He is tidy on the ball, decent passer etc. The only issue is his stature, and the fact he’s forced to play as a DM which makes him look worse than he is when he is constantly overpowered. But he never backs down, I thought against hull he was one of our better players.
On last night, what the hell was that crap? Carver has not got a clue, he’s totally lost himself up Pardew rear end it would be laughable if it weren’t so depressing.

I get giving say Perez a day or two off, but giving the squad a week is a complete joke, they’ve only just come back from a break in Dubai!
Look at Spurs, and i hate drawing comparisons to them, Poccetino has them doing two sessions a day during training and you can see there light years ahead of us in terms of fitness and stamina on the pitch, plenty of times this season they’ve bagged the win in the dying minutes or gone behind and gone on too win through hard work and fantastic craft
Our mob seem to train for a couple of hours, have lunch and go home, our coaching staff really fail to prepare and execute a programme fit for a top flight club, a staff Carver has been a big part of for 4 long energy draining years!
Same every week, 70th-75th minute rolls round and we’re going through the motions on the pitch looking dead on our feet and breathing out there a**e’s!
It’s more like a social club than a football club!

I stopped season ticket after finishing fifth, I wasn’t happy with a lot of things and I wasn’t enjoying the expirience.
I’ve been twice this year and it was hard at first to stop going but now I’m not bothered about going to SJP as it’s dead, at one time we where united and even walking to the ground was a joyous occasion even if we weren’t that good to watch.
There’s so much atmosphere between the fans yet none in SJP which is remarkable. Most people just don’t want the confrontation so ignore what’s going on. Very sad.
We need a KK figure to unite the fans like the Pied Piper lol

He did say that, it seems it was another line to pander to the fans whilst in reality the seasons over, the effort has stopped and there eagerly awaiting there bonuses….
In reality the players should shoulder some of the blame but realistically where’s there motivation to try?

Perez has 5 goals in the league mate. At the end of the day the most important attribute for a striker is goals. We could play like Arsenal and not score goals. To me a striker should be judged on goals, after that all the pretty or hard graft etc is a bonus

Guys,
Not a Newcastle fan but respect a great club with great supporters and traditions. From a Rangers fan who undertsands what this Fat parasite is doing to both our clubs I would like to add a few comments of my own. While he has been a your club he has continually pocketed the money from the selling of players, the Tv cash, the season ticket money and your retail business and gave nothing in return rather than mid table dross to one of the best supported clubs in England. he is now with Rangers trying to take it a step further with our history, our badge, our worldwide retail and loyal fans. We have decided enough is enough and stopped buying merchandise started on masse buying into supporters share schemes and stopped attending games as the only thing this Fat Cockney blood sucker understands is the penny in his pocket. We will be rid of him in March as in pulling the strings but will still have him with his daylight robbery contracts which will mean nothing as no one will purchase anything and further supporter merchandise will be available to buy and the funds invested in shares for the fans. It has been crippiling for my great club but we will never Surrender and I believe it’s time for the Geordie Nation to follow this lead or he will bleed you forever more. WATP

I’m just worried about the ball retention and think Perez keeps the ball better.
You are right, my point just shows how much I worry about our defence.
Damn that means I’d be a Pardew type manager 🙁

we’re so unprofessional with our fitness programmes that half the squad end up injured, whereas spurs have got very few out, despite having much more intense sessions.

You looked at my posts and drew a conclusion that it was Colbacks fault!! Read through them again please. I can give a brief synopsis.
We drew the game because we were poor in retaining possession and we did very little with the ball….A lot on here wanted Anita out of the team and Colback and Sissoko to play the holding role. Well you got your wish and we were piss poor in ball retention. It’s not 1 persons fault as I stated we play as individuals rather than as a team, we lack movement and are static quite often.
Colback was the golden child earlier in the season, the hype around him was completely unjustified, I’ve always seen him for what he is but I’ve also said countless amounts of times that we don’t play to his strengths, he presses the ball whilst the rest stand and watch!! We do however have better options in midfield and especially in his position so I believe as others are starting to do so that he shouldn’t be starting games.
Unlike most who only see what they want to see I posted Colback’s stats from last night which are shockingly bad, hos pass completion percentage was the same as Mike Williamson’s, he conceded 5 free kicks (Tiote did that most would and do go nuts) he got booked (Tiote does that the blog loses its mind) I’m merely pointing out the double standards and bias some have towards players.
Sissoko is wasted in the deeper his passing is awful but he’s the best we have at transitioning from defence to attack with his lung bursting runs!! Anita, Abeid Sissoko for me all day long!! Do you disagree with any of that?

I think a lot of our fans do those things and a lot don’t, I dare say it’s the same with Rangers fans!
I’ve actually spoke to Rangers fans who think the slug is great and saved their club!
If he hadn’t done what he has here they’d all be welcoming him now, hindsight is great. The fans that aren’t happy have managed to come together unlike us, but they won’t be able to stop him gobbling them up if he wants them!

I guess that is my bad for bringing up the subject of Brentford! It is difficult to know how to respond to smid1690 other than encouragement. All the ideas he says are being done at Rangers have been talked about here but as there is no strong supporters organisation at NUFC these ideas are only enacted by a minority. I get the impression that the stadium is being populated with day trippers who have finally got the chance to attend games, nostalgically hoping the team will metamorphose into the ‘Entertainers’.

Comment #149OurToon & OP…I can only guess as a new poster, that his post was delayed whilst Ed moderated it.
I understand why a lot of fans who want change already feel defeated. What I don’t understand is why so many appear to have just given up?
Not only are we not optimistic about our club, but we have no optimism in ourselves and each other.
That for me is where we need to start. Ourselves. Still, that’s easily said by some guy behind a laptop in Ibiza.

It has to start somewhere. It’s not going to unfold that one day, suddenly 50,000+ fans all buy in to the same idea.
What doesn’t help, in my opinion, is when our own clubs fan groups, like NUST for example, do try and do something, they just get shot down and ridiculed.
It may not be perfect, but at least they try and do something.
We now have a situation where too many are holding their cards close to their chest as they have enemies in people who should be on the same side.
It certainly can’t hurt to open a dialogue with Rangers fan groups and see if there is a way forward. First things first, we need a more united fanbase of our own. A leader, something to believe in.
People do have power. What we don’t seem to have is belief. That only favours one person.

and the players can see the rewards for all the work they have put in
I don’t think we do any training and this is not down to carver its been the same for the last 2 seasons
there is something very lacking at the club on our coaching side stone woodman carver all bought in by pardew

Comment #154smid1690 ‘s post was probably his first post and most likely in moderation as some, like myself, missed his post. I do know of groups who have been in touch with Rangers fans groups for quite a while now.
A big advantage for Rangers at the minute is that it’s not solely owned by one person, yet, and they still have a slim chance of someone else coming in. Of course they can also call shareholders meetings etc. and even if they are held in London there’ll still be fans represented.
I do think that their fans have already put our “Toon Army” to shame though but I suppose a day at SJP is a good day out catching up with your mates.
Changing the time of the walk out at the last minute was ridiculous imho.
