Newcastle Need To Sign This Kind Of Player This Summer

While Newcastle have looked a fairly solid team in the last three games, we haven’t been threatening enough up front, and the team hasn’t created enough chances, and in the 1-1 draw at Selhurst Park on Wednesday night, we had only one shot on  target in the whole game, and Papiss Cisse scored from that with a good header late in the first half.

Newcastle have lost four good French players since the start of last year, Yohan Cabaye, Mathieu Debuchy, Loic Remy and Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, and the only one we have really replaced is Debuchy, by bringing in Daryl Janmaat, who has certainly looked the part in a Newcastle shirt.

Loic was only on loan last season, but Newcastle received around £37M for the other three in transfer fees, and we paid out £5M for Janmaat.

It could be said that Siem de Jong was kind of a replacement for Yohan, and he cost £6M from Ajax, but Siem has hardly played for us this season.

Siem de Jong would have given us some of that much needed creativity, but it looks like the Dutchman will miss nearly all the season, after suffering a collapsed lung earlier this week, for the second time in 18 months.

So we can only hope Siem is fit for us next season, but we should still be adding more creativity in central midfield this summer.

Newcastle been operating with one striker short all season, and one central defender short, which is now two since Steven Taylor was injured again and is out for the rest of the season.

But the area where we are hurting the most in of late is creativity in midfield, and in both the last two games we struggled to create chances.

There’s no way Mike Ashley would pay £20M to bring 29 year-old Yohan back to Newcastle, but there should be some creative younger players available who we can bring in.

We were after Clement Grenier of Lyon a year ago, but the 24 year-old suffered a recurrence of his groin injury in early August, and hasn’t played for the French club since.

But there are also other players Newcastle could sign in the summer, who can offer more creativity.

So in the summer hopefully Newcastle can bring in a top striker and a top center-back, but we also need a creative central midfielder to effectively replace Yohan Cabaye.

What do you think?

A letter back from UEFA to the NUST saying that unless ourselves and Rangers both qualify for Europe as yet there is nothing they can do about dual ownership, all he has to do is keep a Carver/Pardew in charge and give them enough to finish 10th/16th and he hasn’t got a problem.

A letter back from the FA to the NUST basically says as Rangers aren’t in the FA cup there’s nothing they will do about dual ownership. They have already stated that they are satisfied we fielded a full strength team against Leicester !

I’m not sure I agree with that, it seems they need one more body in there. Like Abeid. I wonder if the new coach will try a Liverpool. Something like,

Krul, Jan, Colo (or new), Haidi, Abeid (or Anita), Siss, Colb, Cabs, Perez, CF (or Cisse), Ameobi.

One of those 3 reverting to 4 back when we’re under pressure.

Does anyone else read “We were after Clement Grenier of Lyon a year ago, but the 24 year-old suffered a recurrence of his groin injury in early August, and hasn’t played for the French club since” and think, “Yep, that’s our man”?

Jail…Thanks for that info. I think. Good to know officially that we didn’t throw the cup game. Phew.

in my mind the first thing a new coach must do is find us a leader on the pitch we haven’t had one since nolan

i dont think thats right tbh !

if just basing it on palace game then fair enough but in certainly carvers reign we have created a fair bit and have squandered easy chances to stick the ball in the net.

ober/cabella/sissoko/perez/rolando/janmaat/raylor/abied/siem/colback/sammy in those i think we have plenty of assists and tbf carver seems to have got more goals from midfield now also but my main concern is river is just not a striker / arma’s def not ready and perez as great as he is is only an apprentice and still learning so cant be considered a main striker to get loads of goals yet so is missing easy chances ect the same as cisse still does tbh.

What is basic about NUFC is that we don’t have anyone who can pass the ball.

Well, of course… unless you count Wor Colback who likes to play the most simplest passes on earth. I admit he has decent delivery from set piece and once in a while may pass down field but we are a compact team in hope for a break.

Sissoko can’t pass and since he has sacrificed a bit for Cabella… now everyone can see how one dimensional he is… I hate this set up and team..

One guy to put us in the right direction is Daniel Wass:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cmXBMmFUjbs

We need to fill out team with willing passers and players who can actually hit the ball with there big willies…. Wass looks like the proper RW who can put in a cross, is deadly from set pieces, and actually looks like he has something about him

I really hope we can get CM in who can do the same. I know Cabeye players are hard to come by but lets find one. Lets have two strikers upfront and two proper wingers….

    So as of now…

Ings: would work nice with Perez but we still need a target with those 2
    Wass: proper player
CM: for now id take Carrick for two years until we find another

As for CB, who knows… but ill take’em

Plus, lets not get Ayew… i mean he is just another none striker/ none winger who is just throwin on the field
