Which Of These Four Strikers Will Newcastle Sign This Summer?

Newcastle cannot wait any longer and must bring in an accomplished top striker this summer, and we should really have done that last summer.

Alexandre Lacazette
23 year-old Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette
One of Newcastle’s top targets last summer was Alexandre Lacazette of Lyon, but he is now out of the range of a club like Newcastle United, because he’s had a great season at Lyon and has scored 21 goals in 25 total appearances for the club in all competitions this season.

There’s just no way we think Newcastle can now get the 23 year-old French International – unfortunately – especially since he’s been linked with Liverpool a couple of days ago.

26 year-old Max Kruse

Since last summer Newcastle  have been linked with German International and Monchengladbach striker Max Kruse,  and he has already said he is honored with Newcastle’s reported interest (that’s code for please sign me),  so Max has to be a decent possibility this summer.

Pierre-Michel Lasogga

23 year-old Pierre-Michel Lasogga

And Hamburg striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga, who was an early target for us last summer when he was still at Hertha Berlin,  will also be available after he’s had a poor season at Hamburg, who are finding it difficult to score  goals this season and in 21 Bundesliga games the club have scored only 14 goals.

However they have climbed up to 12th place in the German League although they were hammered 8-0 at Bayern Munich in their last league game.

One thing that will interest Newcastle is that the German striker could be available at a cut price, because he’s had such a poor season, but on the other hand will Newcastle still want to sign him after having such a poor season?

Pierre has scored only 3 goals in 19 appearances in all competitions for Hamburg this season.

20 year-old  Aleksandar Mitrovic

Newcastle have also been linked with Anderlecht’s 20 year-old Serbian International striker Aleksandar Mitrovic and Graham Carr and his team have been watching the youngster this season.

Aleksandar is the youngest of the strikers we have been linked with,  and probably has the most potential but his form has also attracted clubs much bigger than Newcastle, so we’d be surprised if we could get him to join Newcastle – much like the case with Lacazette.

This season he’s scored 15 goals in 31 total appearances for Anderlecht since joining them form Partizan in the summer of 2013.

He’s scored 31 goals and has 10 assists in his 20 months at Anderlecht – which is a good record for a player still so young.

We are also being linked with Sporting Lisbon’s 23 year-old winger/striker Andre Carrillo, but he’s not exactly ands out-and-out striker.

Of the four strikers we have  listed above,  Newcastle could try to buy Pierre-Michel Lasogga, because he could provide the cheapest alternative (that’s the way Newcastle think these days) – but we’d like to see Alexandre Lacazette at the club.

Which striker do you think Newcastle will go after, and which striker would you like to see at Newcastle bring in next season of the four listed above?

nut meg …Spurs did by no means spend that Bale money successfully!

…it’s been 11 years since they appointed their first DoF and what a bumpy ride it has been.

I agree a club needs a stable youth setup these days that won’t change every 2 years when the management changes. But it’s s huge problem that players get tied down for up to 6 years and managers only live yo see out a third of that.

What’s the hierarchy with in that system and what about communication? Who has the final say since the managers job is on the line.

There are going to be many opinions about this but I am not sold on the concept. By the way that doesn’t mean I believe the manager should be in charge of everything.

Within the PL there are alternatives – just look at Swansea!

Ed…that’s a good question. It probably depends on two matters:

    1. Who will our Head Coach be

    2. Who comes the cheapest

    Answer – none.

Lgfuad previous post @80 – I posted a list of our run in games a good few weeks ago, and what I thought our points haul would realistically be, in response to someone saying we were ‘safe’ from relegation. It was worrying then, and two games later, and four less points than I expected. It doesn’t look pretty. Beware the Ides of March. And April. And May.

“Which Of These Four Strikers Will Newcastle Sign This Summer?”

The one that isn’t wanted by any other club.

Once West Ham, Southampton, Swansea etc have turned their nose up, we can move in for the scraps.

some shower of pessimistic cnuts on this site, honestly the comments non stop moaning and whinging, look ashley is a cnut ok granted, we never sign anyone and we sell our best players-OK, but whats the point moaning on every single post on here about it?

Make a protest or do something constructive about it and stop moaning like keyboard warriors

The Ashley regime is the hand weve been dealt, get on with it, get behind the team and shut up complaining

Were in a decent position in the league and things could be a lot worse, christ!

The question should be; Which (if any) of These Four Strikers is Good Enough for Newcastle”. That it is not the question is down to one man and he should be asking himself how much better off he’d be now had followed the recommendation of his own Chief Scout?
