John Carver has announced that Paul Dummett is out with his knee injury for up to 12 weeks after he clashed with Yannick Bolasie at Crystal Palace in the 1-1 draw eight days ago.
John Carver – needs to get some points on the board
This is what John Carver said today about Paul Dummett at his news conference:
“He is out 10 to 12 weeks.” “Yannick has rang up to ask if he’s OK.” “The good news is he does not need an operation.”
Newcastle now need to get some points on the board as soon as possible, but Newcastle fans don’t expect much out of the game tomorrow.
But John Carver seems to be confident about the game at the Etihad on Saturday, although if we get anything out of the game, given the way City are playing and the way Newcastle are playing it would be a complete shock – although a welcome shock.
But it’s also something John Carver needs after having a less than stellar start to his position as head coach through the end of the season.
This is what John said today about the game on Saturday:
“Man City have still got a chance of winning the title and they’ll be looking for three points from this,” “But I would like to surprise them.”
“We went there in the League Cup and won 2-0 and thoroughly deserved the win. We will go there with confidence and won’t park the bus. We have a game plan.”
We will be just a little bit nervous throughout the game tomorrow (and in future games) in case any of our back four players go down injured – especially the two center-backs – because we have been left with precious little cover in defense.
Bottom line – the sooner we get another 8 points on the board the happier we will be.
