Anita, Cisse And Gouffran Start At The Etihad

manchester-city-crestnufc emblem

John Carver has just named the team for the tough game at the Etihad this afternoon and John is playing some of his experienced players in the starting line-up.

Newcastle will play in the familiar 4-3-3 this afternoon:

Newcastle: (4-3-3): Tim Krul; Daryl Janmaat, Mike Williamson, Fabricio Coloccini (c), Massadio Haidara; Moussa Sissoko, Vurnon Anita, Jack Colback; Ayoze Perez, Papiss Cisse, Yoan Gouffran
Substitutes: Freddie Woodman, Ryan Taylor, Mehdi Abeid, Gabriel Obertan, Sammy Ameobi, Adam Armstrong, Emmanuel Riviere

Referee: Chris Foy (Lancashire)

That’s one forced change from the side that drew at Crystal Palace 10 days ago, and Vurnon Anita comes in for the injured Remy Cabella.

In fact it’s quite a strong team for today, and it’s good to see the subs bench so strong with Ryan Taylor, Mehdi Abeid, Gabby Obertan, Sammy Ameobi, Adam Armstrong and Manu Riviere all available.

If Coloccini or Williamson are injured, then Janmaat will play at center-back and either Ryan Taylor or Vurnon Anita will play at right back – probably Ryan Taylor.

The midfield three will be Sissoko, Anita and Colback, and let’s hope Jack behaves himself today, because one more yellow card and he misses the next two league games. 🙁

This is going to be a very tough game for Newcastle, but the lads have to show that they are improving with the work being done by John Carver and his coaching staff this week on the training field.

Anything out of this game at all would be very good.

Four in five readers think we will lose this game this afternoon.

It’s just not at all inspiring seeing Gouffran start. Sammy, Obertan should be on the wing instead and Perez on the other.

Just been checking the PL form guide -link

    http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/matchday/form-guide.html

We are currently based 14th in the league based on the last six away and home matches.
The last six away games reveals we have netted only 5 points from a potential 30.
This is slip down the league form.
I can only see us getting whopped today -somewhere in the region of 3 or 4 – 0.

Would have abeid and Obertan in for Anita and Gouffran.

But will be a hard game no matter who plays, good luck to the lads, hope we get that win.

Abeid should be starting, the game will pass Anita by. Chelsea drawing so city can close the gap if it stays the same, I feel a five nil thrashing coming our way.

haha pardew no2 never disappoints. ive got no football qualification but even i know we play best with direct wingers i.e. obertan, aarons or ameobi etc. but carver picks a stupid team just like pardew. gouffran and perez will not give width at all it will all be in middle of pitch.

Its a shame only people who have played professionally are only encouraged to get the highest coaching badges.

See Bony is on the bench – probably make no difference. Cannot see us handling
Aguero at all. Dzeko will probably re discover his goal scoring.

Teams must look forward to playing Newcastle, an almost guaranteed three points.
We should have a good game against Sunderland, mind they usually beat us.

Best case scenario is we make it to 60 minutes without conceding and then substitute Gouffran and Anita for Obertan and Sammy

More likely scenario is Carver consults the fifa rule books to see if it prohibits playing two goalies

I didn’t say I did, what I said mate is what is the fcuken point seeing Hin removed when we are getting an even worse manager appointed, even pardew knows obatan and abeid are better than gouffran and obatan.
