Jack Colback picked up his 10th yellow card of the season in the first half on Saturday for throwing the ball away after a tackle, and he will now miss the next two games because of suspension.
Jack Colback in action on Saturday
It seems that Jack is almost as bad as Cheick Tiote for his innate ability to keep picking up yellow cards.
Our squad is already decimated by injury, loan deals and lack of reinforcements in January, and to lose players through suspension is not good.
And it seems John Carver in not too pleased with the local las and he had this to say about Colback:
“It was stupid, and I’ve told Jack that.” “I could understand it had it been for a tackle, but to throw the ball away?”
“I spoke to him as well. I said ‘we can’t afford to lose you for the two home games – be available and don’t do anything stupid’.”
“And he does something stupid. He’ll have to suffer the consequences.”
It seems from what John says that Jack will now be disciplined by the club – and that will probably mean a fine.
He will be available for the game at Everton on 14th March, and will miss the homes games against Aston Villa on Saturday and Manchester United the following Wednesday.

Spot on mate, the pressure is created by our midfield and not defence. It would be interesting to see just how many non strikers have scored against us from open play!!

Comment #51Maybe Colback just wanted a break from playing in Carver’s apology of a team ? Personally I’d be embarrassed playing for a side that Carver had anything to do with.
Who do we have to thank for yet another low point in this club’s history ? Guess !
