Good News – Jonas Will Get His Chance – And Star Player Fit

There was some good news at John Carver’s press conference today, when the head coach said that he would be recalling Argentine International Jonas Gutierrez to his squad soon.

Jonas Gutierrez – returns to the squad

John Carver is trying to restore the morale and sports of the Newcastle side this week, after their terrible performance at the Etihad Stadium last Saturday.

It was just so painful to watch a Newcastle side so hopeless. 🙁

Here’s what John has said about Jonas today:

“I’m going to bring Jonas Gutierrez into the squad, and there’s a possibility he could be on the bench this weekend,”

“That’s a huge lift for him, and for everyone else around the club, and certainly for the fans because I know how much they like him. I’m sure they’ll give him a good reception.

“My situation with Jonas is that if I need to use him, I will definitely use him. I know there have been rumours out there about the board picking him, or this one picking him and that, but I make the football decisions, and I will pick him when I think the time is right.

“That’s why I’ve included him in the squad for this weekend, with a good chance of him being on the bench.”

We consider that good news because we’d love to see Jonas make some more appearances for Newcastle before the end of the season, at least to give the Newcastle fans a chance to thank him for his service to the club over the last seven years, and to applaud his fantastic fight to beat cancer.

Jonas  has made 194 appearances for Newcastle, and it looks like once he hits 200 that would trigger a clause in his contract that would give him an extension – but that is not going to happen.

And there was even more good news (steady there) that Daryl Janmaat is fit for Saturday.

This is what John said about Daryl today:

“Daryl’s fine”  “We actually took him off last weekend as a bit of a precaution, and to protect him. But he trained normally on Monday, and he’s had a good week.”

We’ll need Janmaat in his best form on Saturday against Aston Villa, and it’s a game we should (must?)  win.

Comments welcome.

Newcastle United stars Steven Taylor, Tim Krul and Jack Colback looked VERY worse for wear after attending Brit Awards 2015 -Metro.

Good to see the lads setting such a good example.
Let’s hope Krul is feeling a bit better by Saturday!

To be fair Keith En France, one is crocked, one is as bland as school blancmange and the other is an imposter of Tim Krul.

So we’re all winding up for the Relegation Party? Woop woop! I still think we’ll get 12 points and scrape by. But it won’t be pretty. Unless of course the unexpected happens and the bottom feeders make a desperate surge to out swim each other and leave us floating down the pan. Aston villa may not be the end of season decider but it’s all looking very…familiar…
