Cisse once again proving the doubters wrong by single handidly keeping us in the Premier league for the second time with vital goals .

Might not be the best all round footballer, but the lad scores goals and that’s what he is meant to do as a striker after all .

Cisse was all but written off as a flash in the pan last year, still somehow gets on the sharp end of the goal table here though.

Well, I actually didnt see the first half at all, but if it was as mood swinging as the first half (dull to scary, repeat) then that was a completely dire 90 minutes. Guess I should have looked at the team sheets when I said lack of mid and defence on both sides would mean goals. I thought both sides would have decent goalscorers but thinking about it would have told me ” service no longer available” 🙂

Still, we scraped a win, valuable points and hopefully cobsigned villa to enough demoralisation to usher them on their way to relegation, bonus could be the mackems joining them. Carver lives to babble another day.

Three precious points. Crucial saves from Tim Krul – my MOTM. Perez was so unlucky with the header. What a goal that would have been!

Best game in the whole season.Aston villa are fighting for survival and honestly they were very dangerous and tough opponent. We were very tough with Sissoko and Abeid.Haidara pure class.Obertan great player. We are looking like the real team now.So glad for it.The only plus for Carver at all along with playing Cabella after Pardew left.

The definition of dire was our performance at Palace. Our second half was better than the first. At least we managed to string a few passes together.

It was never going to be a classic but the win is what counts. Villa are apoor team. After the match there was a bit of taunting between the fans.

I am as happy as anyone to celebrate a narrow home victory at home against a side that has now lost its last seven games.
Villa’s worst run for 52 years.
I won’t sob when they go down.

There has been a lot of talk about mid-table mediocrity.

People argue, quite rightly, that mid-table is NOT mediocrity. Not for us. Not historically.
G2 will crop up later, using that phrase.
G2. Mid table is not mediocrity.
The argument that it is, is mediocrity.
But we are not a mid-table team. We will not finish mid-table.
A year ago we were all outraged at the suggestion we could not compete with Southampton and Swansea.
Next week, the club will raise Carver’s arm aloft for defeating a bottom two club on a record losing streak. It might get him the job.
    That’s mediocrity.

Sorely lacking composure, structure and intelligence in the midfield today

The team needs a new CM just as bad as a CB

What a signing Janmaat has been! Another assist by him from a good cross.

Our best defender by a mile.

Raylor did well today good to see him back and showed once again how threatening he can be from set-pieces.

    Cisse keeps saving our bacon
And he gets so much stick here from ungrateful fans
Good to see Sammy Ameobi back in the team
He is a million miles better than Gouffran on the left
Abeid should retain his place ahead of COlback in my humble opinion

    We need:..

Siem ‘Sicknote’ de Jong back fit asap.

Riviere played on any side of a front 3

We need to offer Perez a contract extension

We need to offer Rolando Aarons a contract extension and play him ahead of Gouffran every game.

We need to offer Sammy a contract extension

We need to put Sammy to take every corner from now on.

We should play Raylor more as he is more than a decent defender with a great right foot- proved it today again.

We need to sign 2 or 3 CBs

We need to sign 1 or 2 STs

We need to sign 1 Winger

We need to sign 1 CAM

…we do those things I’ve listed and we will be fine and have a half decent squad.

We need to sell Saylor- Too injury prone

We need to sell Anita – Not good enough

We need to sell Obertan – Not good enough

We need to sell Coloccini – Too old now

We need to sell Tiote – Not good enough anymore

We need to sell Gutierrez – Not good enough anymore

Yeah, carved continues to deliver par.

That should just about guarantee safety, even with a bad run.

The likelihood we will continue to gain and lose point from teams mostly as expected

And where’s the money coming from to replace the ones you say need to go.

We’ve got no money to needlessly squander on more players when we’ve got more than enough to see us through yet another successful season in 2015/16
