It’s Touch And Go For Man Of The Match Yesterday

Newcastle’s defense played fairly well yesterday to keep a clean sheet and certainly Krul, Coloccini and Janmaat were the pick of the defense, and of course Papiss Cisse got another all important goal for us.

Daryl Janmaat in action yesterday

It was good to see Fabricio Coloccini back to some good form,  because when Fabricio plays well we can get some good results.

Daryl Janmaat was again one of Newcastle’s best players, and set up Papiss Cisse’s goal with a quality low ball into the box.

Ir was an excellent team goal  from Newcastle and Cisse’s 11th Premier League goal in just 18 appearances for the club this season.

Papiss Cisse shoots home the winner yesterday

We’d be in big trouble without his goals this season and he’s now scored 41 goals in 107 appearances for  Newcastle – a great buy from SC Freiburg..

And we thought Mehdi Abeid had another tidy game for the side in the middle of the park and didn’t do much wrong and was dependable.

We also thought Ryan Taylor looked good when he came on for the injured Massadio Haidara after an hour.

It’s very close between Coloccini and Janmaat at the moment in the voting so here’s your chance to vote.

Imagine if Haidara is out injured long term! Just imagine for a while (I would probably laugh and cry at the same time)

Game of 2 halves for mom. 1st half Riviere, did everything but score, created so much space and generallybamboozled villa. 2nd half was Janmaat, by a country mile.

Jeff…Garde have even said he might not even return for management! He is definitely not sitting around waiting to see if Newcastle’s cheap gamble pays off!

Good that we got the win yesterday as we could struggle in the next 6 to get anything.
Abeid was ok,very rusty but that’s to be expected as he’s not up to speed yet.
Went for Collo as mom,he was a different class yesterday although I thought Cisse’s hold up play and connecting play with our midfield was magnificent,Ayoze and Rivière should be made study his movement and touch from yesterday’s game.
Willo was also very tidy and Marshalled the defence well.
Great to see Rayls taking free kicks,we can now get them on target.
Hope he has a rocket ready for the Mackems ——0

3 set play goals for a pardew managed palace yesterday

Was he that bad with us or did our players simply not have the movement and ability to create goals from set plays.

Thought Colo was head and shoulders above everyone yesterday, dont think he put a foot wrong nd made a fair few important blocks and interceptions. Colossal performance, especially after last weeks nightmare.

I have Janmaat as our player of the season. Very consistent.

For yesterday is go for colo, he made some key blocks and interceptions. I think villa were similar to us in the final third, very poor with the final ball.

35 points will keep us up, we’ll surely pick up another 2/3 at least anyway. This season is a right off (as are most now) but at least it should see us stay in the league for next season.

Coloccini by a country mile, the worry now is the left back position, hope we have the right to recall Santon and don’t try square pegs again. Can’t believe we are still playing Obertan, can’t beat a man, can’t cross and freezes when in front of goal, like playing with ten men.

Palace game was helped by a woeful hammers defence and a ref who kept the idiot who should have been sent off earlier on the pitch to see them a couple of hills to the good. Tired of hearing about Pardew’s apparent vindication, give him a season to iron out all the good things I say.

Yep, Raylor lb first choice now. Not that he’s not good enough, but it shows the money grabbing mentality of the owner. No backup, no plan, no foresight when it comes to the team on the pitch.just law of averages and muddling through on the cheap.

All the references to revolutionary academies btw are fruitless, we were talking about such ‘ models’ playing out here years ago. Look at the academy progress now. We compete with derby, Bradford, boro academies, and don’t show up so fancy. Someone no doubt will point you our bairns beating Liverpool yesterday but who thinks we have a top PL academy really? After all this time and so called investment?

Vurnon Anita always played at left back for Martin Jol it was only when FdB came to Ajax he was switched to midfield.

It’s obvious to me that Carver is gonna be in post next season as Ashley doesn’t want to pay the going rate (1 to 2 million) for a top coach on a 3 year contract.

Anyway no top coach would go to a club whose sole ambition is to finish mid table thereby making millions from TV money.

It’s a tragedy when you see 50 thousand supporters in SJP whose lives would be transformed by a successful cup run or CL place. It’s immoral and unethical when so much money is being thrown at the PL clubs. Should be investigated by the PL.

That Chronicle article sums things up nicely by saying that it’s whether Carver’s bid for the HC job fails that determines whether Garde’s in with a shout.

That I do believe to be the case and it’ll be the dog’s breakfast of recruitment to a key role if Carver is appointed.

Why has Carver been given the opportunity to demonstrate his undoubted skills and Garde hasn’t? That would be fair. But not as far as Ashley’s concerned if there’s an opportunity to recruit on the cheap!

What has Carver got to do to be overlooked for the HC job? Murder Ashley’s daughter?

As I’ve said before, Garde’s silence is down to the fact he’s been sounded out and said no – respecting the confidentiality requested of him.

Even if a new coach only moved us two places up the table, the TV money would give a clear profit. A couple of mill a year for a head coach is peanuts in the great financial sceme of things.

You know that, I know that ! Why does Ashley not get it ? They have made it clear they don’t want European competition! I don’t get it Ashley seems to care when he attends SJP but no ambition! Why why why ?

The issue regarding HC next season revolves around the millions it would cost Fatash to:

1…..Pay off the remaining 5 years of Carvers 8 year contract.
2….Pay off the remaining 5 years of Stones and Woodmans contracts.
3…..Pay off Lyon for the assistants Garde would require to bring in with him.

Why did he hand out 8 year contracts? There must be an agreed pay-off figure and it can’t be more than we received from Palace for P45 !
