The Newcastle performance wasn’t great yesterday but it’s hard to fault the fight of the Newcastle United players and with 3 points against Aston Villa, that will give our players the confidence to go on and try to get a good result against Manchester United on Wednesday night at home.
Ashley Young – we always find it tough up there
What we cannot have is another capitulation against a Manchester club, that happened at the Etihad Stadium eight days ago.
I watched the whole of yesterday’s game again today, and a number of players for Newcastle were very steady – Mehdi Abeid and Ryan Taylor looked good, as well as players like Tim Krul, Daryl Janmaat (what a player he’s becoming), Moussa Sissoko, Gabby Obertan and yes of course – Papiss Cisse – who scored his 11th Premier League goal of the season.
Many Riviere wasn’t too bad either, but he needs a goal to get his confidence back – and he’s a much better player than he’s shown us so far this season.
So if the lads can gain that little bit of confidence, then hopefully we can give Manchester United a good game, and they are not the side they once were in the heady years under Sir Alex Ferguson.
Ashley Young has also come out and said the Red Devils always find it difficult at Newcastle:
“I think it’s the United way – picking up points after the turn of the year” “We know it’s going to be a tough game on Wednesday away to Newcastle – we’ve always found it tough up there,”
“As long as we can play in the way we did against Sunderland and add to that, then I’m sure we can go on and get three points,”
That comment will (or at least should) inspire our lads that we can get a good result against Manchester United on Wednesday night.
A point would be good and another win would be fantastic.
What do you think?
