Newcastle’s Best Side For Tonight’s Game

We wouldn’t be surprised if John Carver doesn’t keep essentially the same team that did well on Saturday in getting only our second win in 2015 with a 1-0 victory over Aston Villa.

Ryan Taylor – expected at left back tonight

Massadio Haidara is a doubt with water on the knee, and we’d be surprised if he’s risked tonight, when he can be given 10 days rest before our next game at Everton a week on Saturday.

Head coach John Carver has to be very careful with these injuries with the squad down to its bare bones – so to speak.

Remy Cabella is still out injured and Jack Colback will serve the second game of his two match ban for picking up 10 yellow cards.

Everybody else that was fit for Saturday’s game is still fit for tonight apart form Massadio – as far as we know – so here’s the likely line-up for tonight:

Krul
Janmaat Williamson Coloccini (c) Taylor (R)
Obertan Abeid Sissoko Ameobi
Cisse Riviere
Subs: Woodman Satka Anita Gutierrez Gouffran Armstrong Perez

We’ve included 18 year-old Lubo Satka on the bench, since he seems to be the best available young defender – and we don’t have any left in the first team.

What would your team be for tonight.

And Jonas Gutierrez could make a return to the first team, after last playing in early October of 2013, before he has his battle with testicular cancer.

Only one in four fans think we can win this game.

    Lindisfarne,
I mentioned your banner just to point out that we need clear direction as fans. Which we don’t have. Which is expected. Unless a fascist leader takes over the blog 🙂
I too am waiting and waiting mate. I’m waiting for the entertainers. I’m waiting for us to do what we did to ManU when Kean almost headbutted Shearer. I’m waiting for them two players (combined price: 50 mil!!) who, together with our solid current team, will soar 🙂

    We aren’t that far.
Apart from our regular spankings, even this season we’ve beaten Man City, Chelsea, Spurs etc. We are capable of good football, only it’s well concealed.

It’s such a shame, we have a massive ammount of potential in our team. Especially if we had a fully fit starting 11, i think some of the players are top quality. Poor direction and coaching is our downfall. Hopefully the lads will play well organised football tonight and we’ll knick a win. I’m hopefull!

I am worried about Ryan Taylor tonight as he is not good against strength and power. Obertan was not at all effective and is perhaps best used away or at the end of the match. Will be glad to see Riviere again as he at least was able to get his head on the corner crosses and get the ball in the direction of the goal.

    R.Taylor—Collo—Willo—Janmaat

I have a feeling 442 will be like a knife going through butter for ManU, I only hope the city game has not been forgotten and a strategy is in place.
